The characters are what won me over: their camaraderie, the humor and, hells yeah, the Spock/Uhura pairing.

They did a great job establishing the characters. I actually love these versions of the characters more than the originals in almost every case. And Spock/Uhura is pure win. Quinto and Saldana had chemistry coming out the butt.

I'm totally obsessed with Uhura/Spock right now too. They are too dreamy together.

Regarding Zoe Saldana, I agree she should get more attention

Word. Both Zoe the actress, and Uhura need to be on screen more.

but she is Hispanic, born of Puerto Rican and Dominican parents.

Yeah, but when people look at her they see a black woman. It may not be one hundred perecent accurate (or fair), but today (like in the past) if you look black you're considered black. I mean, I compared her to Halle who is half-white, but she is considered a 'black' actress.

Also, if Zoe's father isn't black Domincan I will eat a shoe, because she doesn't even really look all that mixed. Like I've got relatives Cuba (like going on 80 years now), but they're still black, they're just black Cubans, of which there are a lot, just like black Domincans.
