Oh, The Gates! You tease!
The Claire/Devon scenes on this show are made of pure win. It’s like not only have Rhona Mitra and Chandra West decided that eye-fucking constantly is a necessity for their characters, but the writers, director, lighting and set design people also agree that their scenes need to be infused with epic amounts of sexual tension. Seriously, when Claire locked the door and then began to saunter towards Devon, while Devon smirked at her smugly I thought they were going to do it right on the work bench. And that scene with Devon drawing Claire’s blood, Mm.
Speaking of ‘Mm’ that scene between Claire and Dylan was also pretty hot (and I actually liked the song this played during Claire’s walk to bedroom). Rhona Mitra’s mouth touching another person is always a good recipe for sexy times, and when you combine it with Claire provoking Dylan to get him to be more animalistic ... Mm x infinity plus 1. Thank god there was some sexy vampire loving on TV last night (because other than that Pam scene True Blood grossed me the hell out *shudder*)
I’m still utterly bored to tears by Charlie and Andie. I don’t care. Andie being a succubus is kind of cool, but she’s stuck in this useless waste of a storyline which makes me not really give a shit. I can’t even recall most of what happened in the Charlie/Andie scenes because I was so mind-numbingly bored.
The werewolves on the hand, I’m getting more intrigued by. I like the pretty blond wolf boy, and I’m interested in learning more about the werewolf subculture and pack life. Plus, I continue to dig the tension between Brett/Pretty!Blond. I don’t know if those actors got the same memo Rhona and Chandra did about gaying up their scenes as much as possible, but I suspect they did because the boys are bringing it too!
The Chief continues to be an insufferable asshole. It’s like, the guy is right about so much but he just does everything in the most grating, condescending way which makes it impossible to root for him. I totally want a scene sometimes in the future (hopefully near) where Dylan Radcliff gets pimp slap the hell out of the Chief.
I wish we’d gotten more of Leigh Turner’s (Janina Gavankar’s) personal life this episode instead of The Live of Loves of Deputy Whitebread. Honestly, the guy deputy doesn’t bug me, but he doesn’t really interest me either, and Leigh seems to be the one with the secrets and the charisma so I’d rather be spending more time with her than with the other one.
Devon continues to be a fierce bitch, and I continue to be interested and confused as hell as to what her interest is in Claire (beyond my femslash fantasies). I will however throw the idea out there that Claire’s neighbour didn’t seen shit, and Devon made up that story about the spell to obscure her memory to make Claire feel pressured and thus send Claire into Devon’s waiting clutches.
All in all, eagerly awaiting next week!
