Alias 4x19 "In Dreams" Rambling
Killer bees, secret babies, tiny red balls of death, ominious coffee sweetner, and weird father/daughter relationships. I love this show!
1. Bees are scary. Fembuck no like bees, so opening was super-freaky. Also, "Go to hell" "You first", so cliche and yet so enjoyable. Oh, Joel Grey. Also loved the slow reveal of the < O > sign at the monestary, I was like "ohhhhh". Good directing Jen! Also, it was nice to see Mini-Clifford the Spinning Red Ball of Doom. Oh, Clifford, so Red and so deadly.
2. Good directing Jen! (I was so good it gets it's own point)
3. Jack is back. I really loved the scene with Syd and Jack. Whoever would've thought a gag with a guy holding up his hands could be so amusing. It was nice to see them actually talk about what happened last week, and Jack's stoicism and emotional reluctance was nice to see. That's the Jack we all know and love.
4. Where is Weiss? It's okay, I don't really care. It just means no awkward and unconvincing Neiss scenes. But seriously, like no explanation for his very weird absence. Maybe he was visiting his Mom in Iowa or something. Also, where the frilly heck was Sophia? No, seriously ... where did she go? Did she not come back after her rampage of death last week? And if she didn't why wasn't Nadia concerned? I mean, who's gonna make the empanadas now???? Oh, wait, I know the answer to these questions: "It's Alias! When does it ever make sense?" Ah, and order is restored to the world.
5. Sloane Cloane's hench-woman was hot.
6. When Nadia and Dixon were going down the staircase, until Mia spoke I totally thought she was Syd. I suppose it was the wacky wig, that's usually JG's bag, so it was nice of her to share her stash with the little sis.
7. Totally loved UnderCoverNadia, especially when she was staring at HotHenchWoman's chest (um, I mean looking at her name tag ... yeah, that's it). I was hoping for a chick fight between the two, especially when Nadia disappeared in that room after her, but was sadly disappointed.
8. Everything with Sloane Cloane was mint. Especially when he was all looking at RealSlone like "who is this insignificant peon?" Jack was totally at his sarcastic best in the Sloane Cloane scenes.
9. And the trend of at least one of the APO gang wearing the "Worst Spy Ever" hat continues. Vaughn (not surprising) but I expected better from Dixon. As soon as McCullough took that sugar out of his pocket I was like "It's a sweetner of DEATH! Take it AWAY FROM HIM! Ahhh, you guys suck!" Sigh. Worst Spies Ever. On the bright side, at least Nadia wasn't wearing her Favoritest Necklace of BETRAYAL this week.
10. Loved HorrifiedNadia. Mia did a really good job being completely horrified by the 'Sloane was spiking the water with happy juice' reveal. Man, those two have a messed up relationship. ActingMia was also totally on with the 'baby Jacqueline' reveal, getting up so quickly and walking to the side. Subtle but really nice reaction to Nadia realizing that she had a baby sister at one point, and the anxiety of wondering what happened to her.
11. EMILY! Oh, it was awesome to see Amy Irving again. Sloane/Emily scenes are always so awesome. Emily really humanized(s) Sloane in a way that - for me - not even Nadia has. He just seems so human with her. Also, Amy Irving and Alice Krige could totally be twins. Noticed an errie resemblence between them this episode. The hospital scene was totally heartbreaking. Amy Irving, you rock!
12. Where ever those Sloane/Emily scenes were shot I want to go there. That landscape was effing beautiful.
13. Found the last scene with Nadia and Sloane (after Emily disappeared) a little sappy and unbelievable. The dialogue was just really cheesy though Mia really did the best that she could with it. The "Dad" at the end and Sloane snapping out of it was nice though.
14. SQUEE! Irina next week! Can.not. Wait.
15. S/V proposal next week looks vomit inducing. So not an S/V shipper (obviously). I'm not really outraged by the idea of an engagement, the preview just made it look super-cheesy. Hopefully, there'll be enough Irina to counter-act the effects ;)
