Okay, so I'm watching it again, and Rachel's line to Syd is ... are you ready for it ... because here it comes ... no fooling now ... I'm serious ...
"It helps. Having you."
Um, yeah. I'm sure it does, Boobs. I'm sure it does.
Also, the conversation between Boobs and Peyton on the oil rig, it totally is like post break-up groveling. The way Peyton is talking to her, it's like Boobs caught her cheating with the Fed-ex girl and kicked her ass to the curb, and now Peyton has come back to pick up her CD collection, but is trying to sweet-talk Rachel into taking her back.
The conversation actually goes: Boobs/Rachel = B & Peyton = P
B: My god, you're ...
P: Not dead?
B: I was gonna say evil. Tell me I'm wrong.
P: Let's just say we're working for other teams.
B: You know the whole time, you were in on it with Dean
P: I wanted to tell you...
B: You blew up that building and you killed all those people
P: It wasn't personal, I always liked you...
B: It was a lie. Everything we did...
P: That's enough!
B: Now you're gonna kill me
P: That's what Dean wants. You've made it really hard since you left. But like I said I've always liked you. I don't want to kill you. Give me the software and you walk away from this. Come on Rachel, you're in way over you're head. I don't want to shoot you. Give me the disk.
B: Okay.
But when you see their facial expressions and the tones of their voices it could easily translate to:
B: My god, you're ...
P: Here?
B: An arrogant bitch! Get out of my apartment. I can't believe you came back here
P: I never wanted to leave
B: You cheated on me. With Dean!
P: It was a mistake. We'd had too much to drink at the office party and ...
B: For three months! You were sleeping with him for three months!
P: It wasn't personal. It's just that, once it happened ... he's my boss you know, and I didn't want to...
B: It was a lie. Everything we did...
P: Stop! You're not even listening to what I'm saying.
B: I don't want to hear it!
P: He's my boss, I was in a really tough spot. We were good together though, weren't we baby? I don't want to leave. Just come out for dinner with me tonight and we can see how it goes. Come on, Rachel. You know you miss me. I miss you too. Just one night, dinner drinks, and we'll take it from there.
B: Okay.
SEE! It's totally the same thing! *what, what are you looking at? Nothing to see here, move it along*
And the look on Peyton's face when Boobs saved her was pure "What have I done? She truly was the best of us all. Rachel ... *whisper*Rachel..." Seriously, ya'll, it was!
And going along with the alternate reading of scenes, near the end at APO when Sydney was watching Jack and Rachel talk through one of APO's many glass walls, and then Rachel comes out looking relieved and sorta happy, and is all "Your father is kind of scary". It has a total 'bringing the significant other home to meet the parents for the first time' vibe.
Again, this was a fun episode. And so gay, so very very gay.
P.S. The scene with Sloane and Nadia (Miiiiia! We miss you!) Just made me wish that there would have been a scene of Syd visiting Nadia and like, you know giving a shit about her. Even a mention of Syd having gone to see Nadia (like when Sloane was talking about how hard it was to go into Nadia's room, Sydney could've just said something like "I know, it's been hard for me too". And at least it would've let us know that she had been to see Nadia.)
I mean, with the trillion Vaughn references there were this episode, not to mention the complete ret-coning of Syd and Vaughn's relationship in Season 1 (he was on the comms with her all the time? WHAT??? No he wasn't. He just picked up brown bags she threw in the trash, and talked to her for a few minutes in car washes and grocery stores! If anyone was on comms with Syd in Season 1 it was Dixon, and he wasn't teaching her how to spy ... but I digress.)
That last scene with Syd and the tape recorder would've been a lot more tolerable to me if they had taken up like 10 precious seconds to have Syd mention that'd she'd seen her sister. Seriously, I know Vaughn is dead, but we all know that Sydney has enough tears and anguished expressions inside to use a few on Nadia! Come on writers, it's Jennifer Garner we're talking about here, girlfriend cries like 'whoa', let her cry a little over Nadia.

Ah, thanks :D I miss BoP *sigh* Barbara/Helena is perhaps my all time OTP. And I managed to hold on writing Barlena fic for a few years after the cancellation *grumbles* stupid WB *grumbles* but eventually I became blocked for writing BoP without any new stimulus *cries*
I'm partial to the Sachel love, but can definitely rally around to some Rayton shippage.
Sachel is soooo cute. I love the Syd/Rachel 'ship. They're so cute together, and Rachel is so normal, and stable, and cute and funny and exactly what Sydney needs at this point in her life. And Rayton is hot in an angsty way. But you see Rachel's Rayton experience allows her to realize how precious her Sachel love is! ;)
One clueless question: What's up with the Boobs McPhee thing? Getting into LJ is like I've wandered into a country with a different language. o_O
OMG, okay let me see if I can remember the origins of the Boobs McPhee nickname. I think that it actually came the Television Without Pity Alias board. Basically early in the season Rachel was shown at least once an episode with heaving breasts (the most obvious is when she was trapped in the trunk of the car. The Boobs were heaving all over the place.) Anyway, because of this propensity of the directers/writers to emphasis Rachel's girls the nickname Boobs McPhee was born. (as for McPhee I can only speculate that it sounded funny put together with Boobs). In any event I thought it was hilarious and started refering to her as that :D
Re: lack of femslash action on Alias, that's been one of those incomprehensible mysteries. Syd's so slashable, and yet until Lauren popped up on the show, not much seemed even possible seeing as how there just weren't too many other girls around. So sad.
I know, it's ridiculous. Thank god for Lauren because at least when she came on SOME Alias femslash started to trickle out. It wasn't much, but at least there was something. Still Anna was really slashable in a hatesex kind of way with Syd pre-season 3. Season 4 they took away pretty much any female interaction for Syd except for Nadia (*cough* I was just working with what I was given!) And now season 5 is full of hot chicks, many of whom seem at least vaguely gay, and there's still only a minimal amount of femslash.
*tears out hair* Honestly, Syd/Rachel, Rachel/Peyton, Peyton/Irina, Peyton/Anna, Anna/Irina, Syd/Anna, Irina/Rachel. Endless possibilities *sigh*
*Need more Alias femslash, pretty please*. If that's okay, I'm going to friend you so as not to miss any ;)
Friend away! I love meeting new friends. Anyway, now that the show is back on the air I hope to be able to write some more Alias femslash. Next weeks episode with SydAnna and Peyton looks interesting, plus the potential for Rachel jealously is just a beautiful, beautiful thought :D
