Episode 8 of the second season is one of my favorites. Shimako's attraction to Noriko is really delightful and subtle. To be caught bringing in a buddhist artifact into her catholic high school as a present for her girlfriend: the mind pretty much boggles at what love will make these girls do. o_O. Shimako used to be such a good girl, but she wanted Noriko to know who she was...that is so cute. But not as cute as Noriko trying to protect Shimako when they're put on the spot at the first year ceremony. Melodramatic, but in the best possible way.

::grin:: i dunno -- the meeting between them under the cherry blossom tree was downright soft-core. lol. soft-focus and lingering shots of lips and hair and hands and whatnot.

Lol! You're completely right, I'd forgotten about that. Plus with all the cherry blossoms raining of them, they pretty much *have to* pick them out of each others' hair before going back to class. And every time they touch each other, we get lingering shots of Shimako's lips :D. I'm so glad my flist is around to point out these things to me ;).

One of the things I find completely delightful about this part of the story is how japanese it is. At the peak of the cherry blossom season, they do rain on you like that. It is amazing and magical. The street that leads to Senso ji in Asakusa is lined with cherry trees on the temple side. If you walk down to the temple during the peak of cherry blossom season, they rain on you as the gate to the temple appears beyond the end of the steet.
