Merlin is back! REJOICE! That was a thoroughly enjoyable hour of television. Bring on the rest of Season 3!
Oh Merlin, thy name certainly isn’t subtly. If Morgana had a mustache she’d have been a- twirling it all episode long. Luckily evil!Morgana is utterly delicious and a joy to watch. Do I wish there was a bit more subtly in the presentation of Morgana? Yes. But at least she was fun to watch (and Katie looked stunning). Also, Morgana's, “Did you really think I was that stupid, Merlin?” and her smug smirk afterward cracked me up. Finally Merlin’s awful hiding/trailing skills were called out!
TBH, the thing I was most looking forward to in this episode was the Morgana/Morgause interaction and I was not disappointed. They were a dream to behold. The way Morgana gazed at Morgause with utter adoration and love, and Morgause tenderness, concern for and faith in Morgana filled my heart with joy.
Morgana: There's nothing you cannot do.
Morgause: It is you who gives me strength, sister.
*SWOON*
Seriously, Katie and Emilia gay it up like gay’s going out of style and I love them for it. Team Evil FTW!
Speaking of Morgause, Emilia Fox is God’s gift to humanity. Seriously, she is magnificent. Totally pwned every scene she was in. I could watch Morgause walk up stairs and dismount horses forever and be completely entertained. Emilia/Morgause even got me to ship het! I doubted all of the reports about Morgause and Cenred being teh sex together, but they totally were.
Cenred: You are very beautiful when you're angry.
Morgause: Is that why you continue to defy me?
RAWR! Very rawr!
I’ve watched their scene together at Cenred’s castle multiple times already and it remains completely awesome. If Morgana is okay is Morgause hoping on Cenred’s disco stick to further their plans, then so am I. Go git it gurl!
The Morgana/Gwen scenes made my heart hurt. It would have been really nice to at least have seen one happy reunion scene between them before things started to go to shit. Morgana had a nice reunion scene with everyone (even if though she was bullshitting with Uther and Merlin), but poor Gwen just got the cold shoulder the whole way through. I am not going to enjoy watching the deterioration of their relationship at all, especially because I know the writers are going to completely shaft them and not pay any attention to showing why Morgana is being so cold to her.
I liked the Arthur/Morgana interactions and was pleased that she seemed to be genuine with him. The scene where Arthur said he was glad she was there, and kind of leaned against her as his eyes welled up with tears tugged on my heart strings.
I love Tony Head, but Uther gets no sympathy from me. I cannot feel badly for a man that fucking drowned little children. I’m sorry, but I don’t care how teared up he gets when talking about Morgana, or how long he searched for her. The man DROWNED CHILDREN. Morgause and Morgana cannot killinate him fast enough for me. HE DROWNED CHILDREN! Uther is dead to me, and if Morgana would just pick up that bottle marked “Poison” and bring it to Uther’s chambers he could be dead to Camelot too!
Gaius mostly mixed potions. Dude, needs to think about how he labels his potions though. Labeling bottles POISON in giant letters makes it really easy for evil doers to do evil. Just ask Morgana.
Other thoughts:
Morgana and Morgause really need to use less drippy magic. Save the chocolate sauce for when you're in bed with Morgana, Morgause. Magic shouldn't leak all over the place like an ice-cream cone on a warm day!
I want to see Morgause in her chain-mail and armour on screen again with Cenred in his BDSM leather, because it is a visual feast.
GIVE ANGEL/GWEN SOMETHING TO DO!
That drowned boy was creepy as hell. I’d have freaked out too.
I do wish the writers wouldn’t make Arthur quite so mean to Merlin. I like it when they bicker like an old married couple, but Arthur sponging down Merlin’s face and dropping a bucket of water on him wasn’t funny, it just made Arthur look like a huge asshole.
Morgana really needs to wear less clicky shoes. I can’t believe she was sneaking around the castle in heels. I feel like people in the lower village were probably able to hear her clomping about.
I’m so glad the Morgana walking shots are back. I’d almost forgotten how magnificent Katie’s cleavage is, but this episode reminded me!
In conclusion, BRING ON PART II!

It is HILARIOUS (so much quotable quotes, i.e. "Gauis, check your weave! Trying to kill someone is kind of a big deal") and full of femslashy goodness. I don't know who these girls are, but they are hilarious and THEY SPEAK THE TRUTH. Also, Emilia Fox will now forever be Milly to be because of this podcast. Seriously, listen to it, you will not regret it!

The Dark Side is looking seriously hot indeed. In all of M&Ms scenes together they both looked absolutely scrumptious. I loved that Morgana seemed to make herself extra glam for her meetings with Morgause.

So much word on the M/M, their interactions are just so strong and full of love. And pretty. And it's kinda crazy that when Uther drowns babies, we're somehow not supposed to be on Team Evil.

This. They are the definition of having each others backs. Honestly, I cannot think of a better representation of 'soulmates' than these two. It's like they were made for each other. I am an endless cycle of swooning whenever they are around each other.
And so very, very pretty. Morgana in her endless cloaks and free-flowing hair of evil were blowin' my mind with her fierceness. And Morgause in that armour does wonderful things to me!
And it's kinda crazy that when Uther drowns babies, we're somehow not supposed to be on Team Evil.
I know. I'm having to avoid some Merlin message boards because I can't handle the woobifying of Uther while reading posts about how mean and irredeemably evil Morgana is because she has the audacity to try and take Uther down even though he let her live in his castle and bought her pretty dresses. It's like, okay maybe the evil smirks were a little out of control, but honest, Uther has had it coming for a LONG time!
