Lost Girl - 2x04 reaction post

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:  Lauren Lewis (a.k.a Doc Hot Pants) does not appear on screen this episode.  Not for a single frame.  Her name is said twice three times I think. 

Now that that’s out of the way … the episode wasn’t terrible.  With no Lauren on screen there’s no way it could be considered good (or even satisfactory), but I’ve lowered my expectations - and the show has crushed the optimism in my heart  - enough that I was able to just kind of shrug when the end credits started and mutter, “Eh.”

The one thing I did like about this episode was Bo and Kenzi’s friendship.  Even though they can be obnoxiously stupid together, I enjoyed that they were both willing to basically risk everything for each other. 

And now onto the bitching.

Bo is still pining like a 13 year old over Dyson.  Pining!Bo and Kenzi being stupid and thoughtless were the driving force behind this weeks plot, so yeah, the plot itself was irritating too because if these two could act like adults there would have been no trouble.

In WTF-Land, this episode made me side with Dyson on something over Kenzi.  *glares at show* Why must you toy with my emotions like this?!?  But, he was totally justified yelling at her.  She is a bit too flippant about all most of the things she and Bo deal with, and she really is far too invested in Bo’s personal life.  I’m sorry, Kenz, but [Dothraki Slave Girls]It is known.[/DSG]

Can the show please stop trying to shove down my throat how irresistible Dyson is to everyone with a vagina?  It’s getting out of control.  Like Kris Holden Reid is shaggy and delicious and the man can wear a vest, but Dyson really doesn’t strike me as some smooth as frak, wine drinking, opera attending, Oscar Wilde quoting ladies man who can talk anyone out of her panties in minutes.  Dude hardly talks, and when he does it’s in this terse, overly intense, scowl-y, growl-y way that I can’t imagine is a great hit at bars.

How come Dyson can still appear on screen a couple of times, be shirtless, and make-out with Bo in a “Lauren episode”, but in a “Dyson episode” Lauren doesn’t even appear on screen?  PEOPLE IN CHARGE OF THE SHOW, HEAR MY CRIES!  It doesn’t matter how many times people mention Lauren’s name, if she’s not on-screen the “love triangle” doesn’t come across as anything but ultimately doomed pandering.  *epic lost-girlian sigh*

Are you kidding me? ANOTHER hour of pining!Bo? And no Hotpants? *cries*

Yeah well when Bo and Kenzi gets together they are obnoxiously stupid sometimes...most of the time...but you gotta admire the sisterly relationship they have compared to say, the vomit inducing relationship of Bo/Dyson [Dothraki Slave Girls] It is known [/DSG] . Maybe Lena Headey should appear as a Fae who hunts wolves *shrugs* Like Zoie Palmer said in the Fan Expo Panel, we shall see if anything can come between the sisterly relationship.

I mean I didn't mind dream!Dyson - but like seriously, I don't see how the show can claim to have a triangle when one part of said triangle gets 10% screen time throughout the whole season.

Seriously if this is what we are getting every episode, I may just stop watching. Yet another ep where Bo is whining about Dyson not loving her and actually moving on with his life, which Bo can't seem to do as she mopes about him all ep. I don't want mopey Bo every episode, I don't want her adventures dictated by what Dyson does or doesn't do with her. Seriously, the guy did the only thing he could to help her and all she's done is whine about it since. Just let go Bo!

So we finally get confirmation that Kenzi is indeed Russian, something that I think was alluded to last season but never verbalized. Alas Kenzi had to be pretty stupid to invoke that Fae. Really she hangs out with different Fae at the bar, has battled Fae for the last year and yet she dismisses the 'Baba whatever' right out of hand? Come on that was a huge plot contrivance.And now her stupidity has locked Bo into being the Ash's bitch? You just know it won't end well.

Had to feel for Dyson this ep, as it seems he just can't get on with his life with out ex girl friend Bo stalking and sulking about him. Honestly I think I would move away from someone that obsessed with me.

Oh no. This does not bode well. But I withhold judgement till I see the episode. That said, I do not see what
the problem is with the writers. We have a hot succubus that should be burnin up the screen with way more than just Dyson and Doc Hot!Pants actually, and the Fae fur should be flying and Kenzi should still be zingin her one liners all over the place and they should be taking us into this strange Fae world they introduced us to in the first season. I know it's called Lost Girl but maybe it should be High School Suck-u-bus! Oh snap! I was gonna withhold judgement!

Ok. I've seen the episode and now I can judge. I just can't quit it, even with the Dyson whining. I do like this show, I like the stories they come up with. They give us an entertaining romp through strange worlds with strange beings. I've been thinking and I think I'm willing to share. I think I would be ok with Bo being with Dyson IF! IF she has EQUAL time and love and affection and sexy!tiems with Lauren. It would be a true bisexual succubus arrangement! Bo and Dyson without Lauren is a no go. I don't think I'd watch. Bo and Lauren without Dyson probably just won't happen. But a little bit 'o Lauren, a little bit 'o Dyson, it might work. I think they could do a lot with it if handled well. I still don't want to see anymore Dyson whining, and maybe they're paving the way for "friend" Dyson with Bo (which would make me verrah happy) but here's hoping they amp up the Dr. Hot!pants quotient in the very near future. They can't just leave her with the new Ash. They just couldn't in all good conscience. Aagh! this show!

And I think it was cool they did an episode on Baba Yaga.

Thanks for the travesty warning. I shall do what I always tend to do with the Lauren-less episodes and put it aside for when I can be bothered and then promptly forget about it. I hope to God they get Bo past the Dyson-pining pretty damn quick because it's boring.

Dyson is far from irresistible. He's got a good bod, I'll give him that, but he's not exactly the most handsome of fellas and personality wise he's swimming in the shallow end. Not that I can't see why certain women might not go for that type but he just doesn't have universal appeal.

Yesterday I realized that this is most likely what will happen since they conveniently got rid of Lauren by locking her up somewhere. Once again my expectations have vanished to thin air. I really wish I could quit this show for taking me on this insane rollercoaster ride but for once I simply can't. Just because of Lauren. Dammit.
