LOST GIRL - 2x06 - It's Better to Burn Out Than Fae Away

Fucking, Lost Girl

Haven't the PTB ever heard of a fucking honeymoon period?  Like, damn!  Couldn’t Bo and Lauren have gotten to do it at least one more time before you twat-blocked them?!?  Shit, I wanna punch someone in the face like I'm a Doctor of Ass-Kicking!

This show, this show man ... It gives us that cute as hell opening Doccubus scene. It gives us dreamy, protective Bo. It gives us a hot ass sex scene, and sweet morning after gazing, hair-stroking and kisses. And then ... LAUREN HAS A FUCKING GIRLFRIEND?

WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK SHOW? I reject this coma-girlfriend! I reject her suspended animation ass! I reject her glowing Cylon Hybrid glowing milk bath and all of the emotional baggage that comes with it! I want her to get the hell off of my screen!

Ugh! I wanted Doccubus to bang more! Lots, lots more. And all urgent and desperate like they were this episode. At least once in the kitchen! Maybe in a washroom stall at Trick's bar!

Y even did you do this to me, show?

Anyway, based on that last scene I’m thinking Lauren was involved in something shifty/risky/Fae-related that got Nadia hurt, and out of a sense of honor and/or guilt Lauren sold herself to the Ash in order to get access to the resources she’d need to save/resurrect Nadia. I’m interested in what’s going to happen, but still shit show! Couldn’t they have had a weekend feeding each other strawberries and taking a bubble-baths before you dropped the Nadia-bomb?

[identity profile] unxpectedlove.livejournal.com 2011-10-31 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
I'm going into denial. Just like I did with the whole Warehouse 13 bomb explosion why did you kill HG thing.

[identity profile] fembuck.livejournal.com 2011-10-31 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
At least Lost Girl isn't about to go into a months long season break, but still ... DAMN!

I don't understand why they always have to split Bo/Lauren up the minute they stop boinking. We couldn't have had even one more episode of them being cute together before twat-swatting the relationship?

I guess the bright-side is that Lauren now has an actual storyline, and that Bo will likely give her a chance to explain herself instead of immediately freezing her out like last time.

[identity profile] unxpectedlove.livejournal.com 2011-10-31 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
Painfully waiting for some indication that HG will be back in season 4.....

Meanwhile, Lost Girl seems to be EXTREMELY CRUEL. I mean come on. Why can't Bo/Lauren have a period of loads of fluffiness (aka Bo/Dyson throughout the whole of season 1).

But damn. Lauren's past is intriguing. I wonder if Nadia is Fae related and that's how Lauren got into the whole Fae thing.

I wanted Doccubus to bang more! Lots, lots more. And all urgent and desperate like they were this episode. At least once in the kitchen! Maybe in a washroom stall at Trick's bar!

THIS TO INFINITY.

[identity profile] ishfeeny.livejournal.com 2011-10-31 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
Well I'm decidedly anxious for this episode now.

The Lauren fangirl in me right now is actually squee-in at the news of a girlfriend of Lauren if only because I remember more times where I'm annoyed at Bo than times that I like her, so this makes me be like, "Take that Bo! Maybe now you'll think twice of only running to her when Dyson says no".

Knowing me though, once I actually get around to seeing the episode with all the happy!Bo/Lauren times, I'll revert to being all pro!Bo/Lauren and be equally as devastated as you are now at the Lauren/Nadia thing.

Now if only a download link would pop up...

[identity profile] fembuck.livejournal.com 2011-10-31 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
It's a pretty good episode. No Dyson, lots of good lines, the Morrigan, and Duccubus action.

The thing is, that the show actually kind of got me back on the Bo/Lauren bandwagon after I was militantly protecting my heart because of what happened in Season 1 AND THEN THEY DID BASICALLY THE EXACT SAME THING THAT BROKE MY HEART LAST SEASON AGAIN! I mean, Vex was even in the episode for fraks-sake!

*sigh*

At least it seems like Bo will actually talk to Lauren this time and get her side of things, and Lauren will have a storyline that does not resolve entirely around Bo.

[identity profile] ishfeeny.livejournal.com 2011-10-31 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
...the show actually kind of got me back on the Bo/Lauren bandwagon after I was militantly protecting my heart because of what happened in Season 1 AND THEN THEY DID BASICALLY THE EXACT SAME THING THAT BROKE MY HEART LAST SEASON AGAIN!

See, I was being all protective of Lauren due to the fact that whether this is a good thing or not, I decided to hold a pessimistic outlook on the likelihood of Bo/Lauren being endgame, and it's always certain moments that sucker me in once again to pure, blind hope that perhaps I'm wrong...and then they take that away from me and make me a disbeliever once again.

Aside from that though, I am looking forward to the storyline...if only because (in theory) Lauren's gonna get more screentime now since she has a storyline that doesn't seem to revolve around Bo. And if Lauren does ever save Nadia, I'm hopin for some jealous/competitive Bo to try and sweep Lauren off her feet and out of her hot pants.

[identity profile] fembuck.livejournal.com 2011-10-31 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
...and it's always certain moments that sucker me in once again to pure, blind hope that perhaps I'm wrong...and then they take that away from me and make me a disbeliever once again.

Word to all of that.

That's the thing. I was doing such a good job being like, "Whatever, bro" about the Doccubus stuff this season because of crotch-kicking the pairing got in season one. Then this episode rolled around, and for the first time since "Vexed" I actually let myself get swept up in Doccubus and then ... BAM! They got me again!

And if Lauren does ever save Nadia, I'm hopin for some jealous/competitive Bo to try and sweep Lauren off her feet and out of her hot pants.

If the show actually does this, I might just forgive them for this latest twat block. I think I need to see Bo fight for Lauren, not just on behalf of Lauren. With Bo's questions about Dyson's love life, it really does still seem like Lauren's a convenient option for her - despite what Bo says - so seeing her actually pursue Lauren is something I'd be interested in seeing.

I just don't like how shady Lauren is coming across. I love Lauren, and so I'm all like, "Let her explain, okay!" but the show is sure making it easy for haters to hate. Please be letting Hot Pants actually answer some questions soon, show.

This a thousand times over. I feel like half (and by half I mean like...all) of the time that Bo does go after Lauren, it's either as flirtation for flirtation sake or because Dyson isn't a viable option for her atm, which makes me dislike both Dyson and Bo even more so than I usually do.

I just don't like how shady Lauren is coming across. I love Lauren, and so I'm all like, "Let her explain, okay!" but the show is sure making it easy for haters to hate.

I admit, my obvious bias towards Lauren does make me blind at times to the fact that yes, secret!girl isn't necessarily the best way to gain fans (which does explain the Lauren!hate that I see on Tumblr every now and then that makes me sad/confused) so I really do hope they finally get around to having Lauren talk. While I'm fine w/ her being mystery!girl, Lauren really does have some explaining to do.

[identity profile] karatam.livejournal.com 2011-10-31 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
wait, WHAT?

Why must I have to wait until tomorrow to download this episode??

[identity profile] fembuck.livejournal.com 2011-10-31 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah ...

The Morrigan was all like, "This is the key to saving Nadia." And Bo was all, "Who's this Nadia bitch?" and the Morrigan was all, "LOL Lauren's girlfriend. She didn't tell you? *smirk*" I was like ...

Image
Fuck this show!

I am curious about the whole Nadia thing though, and I am hoping it leads to more Lauren screen time and Lauren getting the opportunity to finally answer some damn questions!

[identity profile] rachel-and-ivy.livejournal.com 2011-10-31 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
Can't wait to see this ep. I really like this show despite the way they treat Dr HotPants, but I hate waiting for the links to pop up. It's torture I tell you! These are the times I hate being an American haha.

[identity profile] pf-c.livejournal.com 2011-10-31 06:24 am (UTC)(link)
Everything you've said is right on, but seriously, I wish this post was on tumblr so I could reblog with the gifs you've used. I'm over here lmao

Even days after you posted this, I'm still laughing so hard at this gif. It's so perfect.

Sorry to hear the TV verse isn't treating you well. I've stumbled across something that might cheer you up, though (that is if you haven't read it already, which you might considering you've been in the business of femslash a lot longer than I).

http://www.boldstrokesbooks.com/products.php?product=Missing-Lynx-%252d-by--Kim-Baldwin-%26-Xenia-Alexiou-

I recently read it myself, and while I doubt it will change yours or anyone's life, I found it a nice, effortless read. It reminded me a bit of your episode summaries of Nikita (deadly female operatives with a huge protective streaks staring longingly at each other, that kind of thing :p).

Basically, the plot follows Cassady (AKA Lynx), the newest member of an international task force of do-gooders called the EOO, and Jack (once known as Phantom), one of the criminal underworld's deadliest hitwoman, as they both hunt for a serial killer across the world.

Like I said, the book isn't likely to change your life, and it's (briefly) corny enough at some points to make you roll your eyes once or twice if you give it a shot, but there's some good fluff, some good action, fierce girls in love and no real frustration in sight. The sexual tension between the main girls was the high note for me, but I can't really get into it without spoiling. Suffice to say one of them is significantly older than the other (I think it was a quirk you enjoyed in your pairings, but maybe I have you confused with someone else... sorry if that's the case), and in my mind at least totally looks like your latest crush Joanne Kelly. The eye candy alone could be worth the price of admission... ;)

It's book six in an ongoing series, but it's the only one I've read and I've had no trouble following. If that doesn't sound appealing, you could also browse the rest of the site, if you don't know it. It's a publisher that focuses on LGBTQ content, so you might find a gem or two. I haven't done any extensive searching, so I can't really help you there, but they do have a lesbian fiction section. Who knows?

I apologise for the long message if I'm reporting old news. It just made me think of you, and since you've been an endless source of entertainment for years now, I figured I'd return the favour. Hope you enjoy(ed)!

Sav

Nikita with actual gay? That sounds just up my alley! And I've definitely been longing to read something where the F/F is TEXT instead of something I have to invent. Subtext has sustained me for a long time, but text is nice sometimes dammit!

Thanks for the heads up :) I'm always appreciative of F/F recs. Now I'll just have to try and get my hands on it!

[identity profile] telepresence.livejournal.com 2011-10-31 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
I have to say I was amused that they did a complete replay of the Dyson "Toothpaste?" scene from season 1 with Lauren.

[identity profile] slavefaith.livejournal.com 2011-10-31 07:47 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't catch that. That was awesome.

This is my tumblr tribute to you.

Haha, thanks! You can use my name, although anyone looking for a ton of LG fannishness in my own journal is going to be disappointed I've only posted about it a few times.

[identity profile] fembuck.livejournal.com 2011-11-03 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I thought that was cute too (until Kenzi decided to do a 'barf' dance with Lauren instead of a 'way to get it gurl' dance like she did with Dyson - sigh, classic Lost Girl, making me smile and then making me rage)

[identity profile] telepresence.livejournal.com 2011-11-03 10:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I have always believed that some crucial scene got lost on the cutting room floor early in season one, or some pages of a script just got cut for time or something. They've never explained Kenzi's antipathy for Lauren properly. She mentioned Lauren "spybanging" Bo, but Kenzi was super hostile to Lauren way before that happened.

However, at least in this ep Lauren talked back to Kenzi about pushing other people away from Bo. And at least Kenzi advised Bo hearing Lauren out on the Nadia thing. So maybe they're trying to undig that hole they dug for no apparent reason.

[identity profile] liberty-stewart.livejournal.com 2011-10-31 06:59 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't watch the episode tonight cause I'm still caught up in the Halloween season. However this summary now has me curious. Finally we get to know something about Lauren and it's that she has a girlfriend. And Emmanuelle Vaugier is back? Okay that's always a plus. I guess I'll be looking forward to the reruns this Thursday.

However I'm just not feeling it all that much for Lost Girl these days and there seems to be 3 reasons for it.

1) The season has been mediocre at best.

2) Halloween season took my attention away, but the biggest reason of them all is...

3) I'm still mourning the loss of that other much, much, MUCH better gay show. You know which show I'm talking about.

http://vimeo.com/30155176

^^Why must you leave my life so early? That series showed us that we don't have to put up with mediocrity. Then we loss it after a mere 3 episodes.

Now it's hard to watch other gay shows because they feel so cheap in comparison. I mean really, I didn't thought it was possible, but that series managed to obliterate any interest I had in shows with other canon lesbians like True Blood and Lost Girl.

This is like those special ones that get away. It wins over your heart, you became really attached in such a short period, then the next day it's just gone with a huge gaping hole it left in you. It doesn't matter how much you try and fill in that void, it just makes you miss it more. If I could kill Lost Girl, and my number 2 & 3 fave new shows of the fall season in order to bring back that show, I gladly will. I'll probably be watching those 3 again within the next two weeks. Now I feel like getting back into my corner and moping again.

[identity profile] telepresence.livejournal.com 2011-10-31 11:46 am (UTC)(link)
What show are you referring to?

[identity profile] liberty-stewart.livejournal.com 2011-10-31 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
The Playboy Club. The title is very misleading in what the show is about.

I thought it was easily the best new show of the fall season. Fembuck has seen the show too and several other users whose LJs I visited feels the same way about the show as I do.

[identity profile] telepresence.livejournal.com 2011-10-31 08:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah. (Earlier I couldn't play the video, which makes it obvious which show is being talked about)

I have to say, I thought the pilot episode of Playboy Club was just about awful, terribly paced with way too much plot and not nearly enough characterization, and with so much other TV to keep up with I bailed on it, though I did hear later episodes were better.

Fundamentally I think the Playboy tie-in was a bad idea. It attracted people who didn't get what they were hoping for (boobies), and turned off people who might have liked what the show really was. I also think Eddie Cibrian is terrible casting when you know the direct comparison people are going to make is to John Hamm.

I'd have just made a show about the women working as staff in a swanky Chicago nightclub in the period. Dump the Playboy stuff, dump the bunny costumes.

[identity profile] liberty-stewart.livejournal.com 2011-10-31 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I liked that their was alot going on in the first episode of the show. It was basically a setup for the characters. Later episodes definitely had more character development and characterization to it. Heck just the 3 episodes of Plyaboy Club had more development and a better understanding of the characters than the entires series Lost Girl gave us so far.

Episode 2 had like a good 1/3 of the episode being focused on the lavender couple. They even found a way to make the part of the show I found most uninteresting (Eddie's mob/political story) interesting.

The Playboy name definitely caused problems as far as attracting the wrong viewers to it. I don't watch Mad Men, so the Jon Hamm comparisons never entered my mind. But I could see the problems with him. He's the actor in the whole cast that gets the most complaints and he's also the weakest of the bunch. I have seen Jon Hamm and January Jones in other things. Although I agree Jon Hamm > Eddie Cibrian, however it's Amber Heard > January Jones.

I don't think they could have done a simple 60s Chicago nightclub series on it's own because most likely the Playboy name was what got the series greenlit. Rather ironic the name was both it's upbringing and it's downfall.

[identity profile] fembuck.livejournal.com 2011-11-03 10:19 pm (UTC)(link)
There are some good aspects of this episode, but there's also some typical Lost Girl WTF. The Nadia reveal could be good, but with this shows track record I'm so scared.

And while the Playboy Club wasn't perfect, I do miss the shows serious and respectful treatment of the gay storyline (I can't believe they gave me Cassidy Freeman as a gay and then took her away! Francis Dunhill was the Queen of my pants - and Alice's lol).

Considering the shit that is still on the air, it does hurt that Playboy Club got axed so quickly. It's sad, but I think I've actually gotten used to most of the shows I love being taken away from me (though this one was taken away much earlier than most)

[identity profile] liberty-stewart.livejournal.com 2011-11-04 02:33 am (UTC)(link)

This. If a show has a history of disappointing you, don't expect it to change overnight or anytime soon for that matter.

I do miss the shows serious and respectful treatment of the gay storyline

Hence my remark about Playboy Club showing we don't have to put up with mediocrity when it comes to gay characters. Now the best thing I got is the TV version of the Hollows and 2 Brokeback Girls.

(I can't believe they gave me Cassidy Freeman as a gay and then took her away! Francis Dunhill was the Queen of my pants - and Alice's lol).

[livejournal.com profile] jetgirl78 feels the same way. She got excited that Tess was a gay character who was about to get it on with Alice, then the series got yanked before it was about to happen.

Considering the shit that is still on the air, it does hurt that Playboy Club got axed so quickly.

Well it goes with the saying of mine that the only good TV is cable TV because network TV is where crap reigns supreme. Which just makes me hope by some miracle a cable network does pick up the series.

It's sad, but I think I've actually gotten used to most of the shows I love being taken away from me (though this one was taken away much earlier than most)

Same here. You know that line "Misery, misery, misery. That's all you've given yourself" that Green Goblin said in the first Spider-man film? That basically sums up my experience with network TV. Anything I have an attachment with I can expect the worse for and anything I hate will live on forever.

[identity profile] ralst.livejournal.com 2011-10-31 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
The Nadia storyline could turn out to be good; if Lauren's allowed to explain, and the reawakening of sleeping beauty prompts Lauren to be the centre of a different love triangle, but I'm trying desperately not to get my hopes up.

The things is, I'd pretty much resolved myself to the fact that Bo just isn't good enough for Lauren and I should be hoping for a new lady love to enter Doctor Hotpants' life. Then they have to go and be so cute together on the couch and my good sense is betrayed by my love of cuteness, even though Bo was once again prepared to jump to conclusions without speaking to Lauren first (well done Kenzi for finally getting off your Doc-hate train long enough to point that out).

So now I just want more sweet Doccubus kisses and hot steamy sex... is that too much to ask?

[identity profile] fembuck.livejournal.com 2011-11-03 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
See, the thing is the Nadia storyline does have potential to be really interesting ... just, like not on this show. This show is just too dumb to do anything actually interesting, or new with the storyline. I have no faith in Lost Girl and so when something like this is set up I get scared, because I'm convinced the show will do the stupidest, worst, most rage inducing things with it. *sigh*

The things is, I'd pretty much resolved myself to the fact that Bo just isn't good enough for Lauren and I should be hoping for a new lady love to enter Doctor Hotpants' life. Then they have to go and be so cute together on the couch and my good sense is betrayed by my love of cuteness

This! My heart has been like stone when it came to Lauren/Bo for most of this season. Nothing made me excited, and the things that were supposed to actually just made me mad. Then this episode comes around and I began to hope, just for a second, and the BLAH BLAM the Nadia bomb is dropped.

Ugh, this show. It's the Hollows on TV.

[identity profile] zearbear.livejournal.com 2011-11-03 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
Got to point out one thing that had me laughing was when kenzi was leaving the bathroom an did that Lil dance would make an awesome GIF

But ugh they do know how to keep stringing us a long
poor Bo all she wants is some loving an straight answers always being thrown for a loop

Hopefully Lauren has a good explanation

[identity profile] fembuck.livejournal.com 2011-11-03 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry about that last one, I'm not braining well today *sigh*

I like the 'toothbrush' scene right up until Kenzi's dance actually. When Dyson was in the washroom Kenzi was all fist-pumpy but then with Lauren she does a barfing motion. I just saw it as more unnecessary hating on Lauren from Kenzi. Typical Lost Girl making me smile and then making me rage ... usually within seconds of each other.

Hopefully Lauren has a good explanation

Considering we never even got to hear what she had to say about the last time things went to shit for her and Bo, I have no expectation that we'll get a satisfying answer (if they even talk about, which I'm not convinced of either). And odds are if she does explain, it'll be B.S.

And I'm gonna stop typing now because my irritation with this show is gaining strength and even I can only handle so much hatin' at one time ;)

*exits stage left*
