Lena Heady Cast in Ultra

Lena Headey ("Imagine Me & You," "The Brothers Grimm") has joined the cast of CBS' Ultra as Penny, reports Variety.

Ultra, from CBS Paramount Network TV, revolves around a female superhero who must contend with saving the world while pursuing a life as a single girl in the city. In the comic book, which parodies celebrity magazines, Ultra's alter ego, Pearl Penalosa, is a semi-icon who graces billboards advertising popular products.

Barbara Hall will executive produce the pilot; David Engel and David Alpert are co-executive producers.

They had me at Lena Heady, but chained me to the bedpost (um, couch) with 'female superhero'. Plus, semi-icon and billboards equals Lena glamour shots, yay! Now lets only hope that she has a best friend/side kick and that there relationship has an undercurrent of sexual tension. Could this finally make up the hole the demise of 'Birds of Prey' left in my femslashy heart (with the added bonus of being intentionally funny)? I hope so.

Ahhh, thanks. I'm such a procrastinator so it's nice to know that people don't forget my existence during my sabaticals (which in this case was due to my new obsession with Sarah Water's books and bbc adaptations!)

I would love to. I'm obsessed with the Spashley, I loves the Spashley. I'm positively Gollum-esque when it comes to Spashley, but I've been in a bit of a writers slump lately. Hopefully rewatching season 1 obsessively like I've been doing will inspire me. *pokes brain into thinking about episodic fics*

Gah! Lena! Superheros! TV. Gaaaaaaaah! The pretty. It hurts my eyes. I sat through Gossip and The Cave for the woman, you'd better believe I'm sitting through her TV show, no matter how BAD it is. But will she use her "American" accent in it? That's the real question.

That was pretty much my reaction. Okay, maybe there was some drooling too.

The pretty. It hurts my eyes. I sat through Gossip and The Cave for the woman, you'd better believe I'm sitting through her TV show, no matter how BAD it is.

Word. I used to have Gossip on tape and despite its horribleness would watch it every once in a while for the pretty. And "The Cave" with the combined hotness of Piper and Lena was too much to resist. And god did I pay for my weakness with that one. Man, it was like being punched in the stomach repeatedly after eating way to much chocolate, it HURT! But there was 'teh pretty' and thank god she was in it til the end (or maybe damn her for being in it to the end so that I couldn't turn it off 45 min. in!)

But will she use her "American" accent in it? That's the real question.

I can't remember what her american accent sounds like, I haven't heard it in so long. Does she use it in Brother's Grim?

I just saw "Gossip" so her fakest American accent evah is fresh in my mind. I also just saw her in "Abredeen" where she was sporting a Scottish accent, so in my head her voice is kind of wonky at the moment.

So her American accent is "Gossip" wasn't that great?

Well, that was five years ago. Let's hope that hanging out with Piper has lent a certain naturalness to it or something! *looks at the ceiling thoughtful as she considers if 'checking out Lena's ... um, accent is a good enough excuse to rent 'Gossip'*

Rent Gossip! Do it. DO IT. James Marsden is pretty. That's enough of an excuse, me thinks. It was an adequate accent, but there were words where she slipped. Also, ICON LOVE. Jean Grey.. uhmmmm!

They're adorable together. The 30 seconds that they were allowed to talk to each other in "The Cave" was the only 30 seconds of that movie that didn't completely suck. I would kill to see them live in an interview together, the print interviews are so cute that I think my monitor/tv screen might explode at the cutifulness.

Unfortunately the prettiness of Lena wasn't enough to stop me falling asleep during The Cave

I don't blame you a bit. I dosed off during parts of it as well, and really I'm glad because I think it lessened the psychological trauma, like blacking out during a hold-up or something. Frilly heck that movie was bad *shudder*

some movies are simply beyond saving. *sigh*

So true. But I never seem to learn that lesson. I always managed to convince myself that maybe the pretty really will be enough ... but it never is (yeah, I'm looking at you "Evil Remains", "Bats", "The In Crowd", "Darkness", "The Sleeping Dictionary", "The Big Bounce", "Mindhunters", "Stealth", etc.)

Over here they've just - days ago - released the entire three series of Band of Gold on a DVD box set. So if you've a multi-region DVD player???

Thanks! The new character posters (http://www.comic-con.org/wc/assets/xmen_lg.jpg) they just released are sooo pretty esp. Angel, Jean, Storm and Rogue (Beast kinda looks like he's wearing pink leather which is all kinds of wrong).

And I'm lovin' that we're Jean icon twins! Go Jean icons! So pretty.
