Nadia exhaled sagging into the warm body in front of her the moment Sydney’s arms wrapped securely around her; her arms snaking around her sister’s waist, clinging to her, almost clawing at her in a desperate attempt to verify that the older woman was there, touching her, breathing her in.
“My god,” Sydney whispered, her hand stroking Nadia’s cheek gently, her lips on her cheek, and then nose. “Thank god,” as her lips dusted Nadia’s.
Rachel let out a shuddering breath and stepped away from the hospital room doorway, her heart pounding as she watched the sisters embrace.
Dazed, she made her way down the hall, wondering where she would fit into this new equation.
