Gayhouse - 1x03 "Were You Grown in Lab?!?!?" um, I mean "Stage Fright"

OMG! This show is so gay. It is glorious. I hope things stay this way forever!

That first scene with Echo and Sierra was crazy gay. CRAZY GAY. Echo literally catching a swooning Sierra, and then the two of them gazing soully into each other's eyes. "Friends help each other out", yeah okay Sierra. I can decode your Doll-speak. I know what you really meant as "meet me in my glowing pod-doodle so that we can mad sex when the lights go out". They looked so guilty at the end of the scene. I'm convinced it's because of the dirty thoughts they were having they didn't want anyone else to pick up on. Oh, forbidden love. I'm a sucker for you!

I love that Boyd has realized that the way to make Claire do things is to use Echo to coerce her. Somebody's been reading Adelle's (the one in my head at least) playbook *tisk tisk*

Olivia Williams was looking particularly stunning this episode. My Adelle lust was out of control. We even got to see her being charming!

"Jordan" and Rihanna's Rayna's duet of gay. "I've got to find the freedom, that's promised me. Freedom from our struggles and misery ..." clearly, Jordan and Rayna are still fighting the good fight about Prop. 8. Keep it up girls! You sing that song of freedom! Seriously, there was some major eye-fuxage going on, and not just from Eliza like we're used to.

"Boyd? What are you guys, buddies now? ... ... Of course you are. You both disapprove of everything. You're going to get married and have scowly babies." LOL! Oh, Topher. Seriously, he gets some good lines. I loved this one, because Boyd and Claire totally do subscribe to Liz Lemon's "Everything's the worst" philosophy of being.

Rayna interrupting her own routine after seeing "Jordan" topless. GAY. It wasn't any mint that distracted you, it was BOOBIES! Don't front! You gave yourself away by promptly inviting a tube-top wearing Jordan to ride with you in back of your limo to "practice", Rayna. I doubt much singing went on back there if you know what I mean, and I think that you do!

Geeky!Sierra is charming. I found her to be unbearably cute. Dichen wears glasses well.

Jordan and Rayna immediately becoming like BFF. GAY. If Echo was sitting any closer to her on that couch, she would have been in her lap. I saw you creepin' Echo!

"Audra"'s mad girl-crush on Rayna. Seriously, that whole scene at the bar seemed like Rayna and Jordan were trying to get Audra drunk so that they could have a hot multi-racial threesome. Also, I love that Echo like immediately jumped to "would you take your clothes off and ..." when she was trying to see just how big a fan of Rayna's Audra was. "Oh, with or without my undies?" *swoon* Audra, sweet dirty Audra. Be still my trembling heart.

Victor:  Mostly people are crap.
LOL!  I've felt this way most days some days.

Rayna was totally turned on by how Faith Jordan took that pap down. "I"m a Southie." LOL. Awww. Faith jokes. Good stuff.

Tahmoh needs to have a wicked hot fight scene every episode. Show off those Muy Thai skillz baby! Let's not have him shot in the future though. It harshes my mellow.

I think what I loved most about this episode was how subtle it was. [Rayna being lifted up in a cage] I'm not crazy. I just want to be free. *head desk* Paging Maya Angelou, paging Maya Angelou. Apparently, Rayna also knows why the caged bird sings.

Echo: Are there any drugs you’re not on?
LOL

The subtly continues ...

Rayna to Echo: "What did they grow you in a lab?"

Rayna: I don't exist. I'm not a real person. I'm everyone's fantasy. And god help me, if I try not to be.

Rayna: I don't feel it. I don't feel anything.

WRITERS! YOU ARE BEING TOO SUBTLE! I DON'T GET IT!

Echo: You don't like your life. Change it.
Rayna: They won't let me!

So, Rayna was made in The Factory and Echo was made in the Dollhouse.  .... .... ... o_o  SPELL IT OUT FOR ME, WRITERS! WE ARE NOT ALL CLEVER CLEVERSTEINS LIKE YOU!!!

"You are not okay, okay. You are having a breakdown. Not a shave your head, show your junk wacky phase. You are truly unwell."

Echo: You can fire me. But bitch, don't think you can take me.
HOT!

Echo: I don't know why, but ... even after everything that's happened [looks at Sierra] I have to help her." I LOVE that it was seeing Sierra on the monitor that made Echo go after Rayna instead of her programming to protect Rayna. After she hit Rayna over the head and was all, "Friends help each other" I was squeeing like mad. IT"S LOVE PEOPLE! A TRUE, PURE LOVE THAT DEFIES THE BEST MODERN TECHNOLOGY HAS TO OFFER!

Echo got to catch a swooning Sierra AGAIN! Dashing!Echo and Damsel!Sierra are very qt together!

I liked Adelle standing up for our girl. Homicide Life on The Streets needs to GTFO! You are not putting anyone in the attic, you douche! Thank god, Adelle is enamoured with Echo a business woman. I'm so glad they cast an actress of Olivia Williams ability. She manages to make the mundane, like playing Exposition Fairy interesting. "In fact I believe she did quite the opposite. She stopped the person who wanted to hurt Rayna the most, it just happened to be Rayna herself ..." OY VEY. Thanks for the recap, guys.

I loved how happy Sierra looked when she spotted Echo in the Dollhouse. She just wanted some cuddle time with her boo. Very interesting that Echo knows they are being watched. The fact that Sierra is totally aware of it and picking up on Echo's cues is also interesting since she is so new. Maybe, Handler McSucksBalls was right and Echo's emerging individuality really is catching!.

In conclusion, I'm totally hooked!

P.S.  Does anyone know if that was really Eliza singing?  I kind of just assumed it wasn't, but the voice seemed to fit her and know I'm wondering if I'm selling her short.  If it was her, she has a nice voice.

*BIGGEST SQUEE MANAGEABLE WITHOUT PASSINGOUT!*
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO SUBTLE! *shakes head* *sigh*
But I am sooo glad that it wasnt my lack of GF leading me to see a huge quantity of GAYNESS! in this episode...i tend to do that :S
Also- I have a thing for glasses and BOY did Sierra pull it off! I also loved that she pulled off that accent as well as she did. And i got soooo psyched/edgy/excited/all workedup when Echo knocked out Rayna in order to go save her girl! And SOOO MUCH SWOONING!SIERRA/DASHING!ECHO!
and the Faith refrence!- i had just been watching a buffy s3 dvd so i was uber pumped!
I was so pissed that that jackassy handler was there at the end- you totally know Sierra & Echo were about to fall into to some intense hugging/snuggling right then and there if he wasnt there! Im convinced that they just kept walking that circle until they met up again in the back and did...naughty things :p
I wish there had been more Claire but I like that whole "mention Echo and she'll jump through hoops" thing. And it had been bugging me where I knew Olivia WIlliams from- now that i figured it out, it makes me that much more happy!
I'm sooo excited for this show! Joss is so not afraid to put the gayness out there in the best way possible! not to mention, he gives ppl the leiway to be funny :p

I know, right!

But I am sooo glad that it wasnt my lack of GF leading me to see a huge quantity of GAYNESS! in this episode...

Wasn't just you. There was MASSIVE amounts of gay in this episode.

I also loved that she pulled off that accent as well as she did.

Dichen Lachman is actually Australian, so I'm wondering if Seirra is going to be Austrailian on all of her missions. I can't remember if she had the accent in her speaking scenes at the Dollhouse, and I'm too lazy to go back and check.

you totally know Sierra & Echo were about to fall into to some intense hugging/snuggling right then and there if he wasnt there!

Totes. The way Sierra's eyes lit up ... she wasn't looking for more than conversation.

And it had been bugging me where I knew Olivia WIlliams from- now that i figured it out, it makes me that much more happy!

Where did you recognize her from? Rushmore?

[identity profile] alexz6.livejournal.com 2009-03-01 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
hahaha that facepalm---BRILLIANT!
but wow- i feel stupid :p i guess thats why she sounded soooo freakin great;)
im pretty sure she didnt but then again...ive been WAY outta it lately:p
actually yeah- but it was bugging me cuz i rewatched Xmen3the last stand with my little sister (whom has just recently discovered the xmen *rollseyes*) and i couldnt place her and then when i saw her in Dollhouse, it started bugging me again so i looked her up and remembered ...actually from Peter Pan and the Sixth Sense :p

eliza's singing

(Anonymous) 2009-02-28 09:21 am (UTC)(link)
yes that's her voice. Not too shabby either.

And what the hell was the head-shake that Echo gave Sierra at the very end?!?

Re: eliza's singing

[identity profile] ic1pher.livejournal.com 2009-02-28 11:14 am (UTC)(link)
The head-shake was obviously to stop Sierra from kissing greeting Echo, because then everyone (especially Sierra's handler) would know that they are intimate friends, and they would get thrown into the attic.

This.

Seriously, this episode was so good for Echo/Sierra shipping. I don't know when hitting a pop princess over the head became a declaration of love, but it is now like one of the most romantic things a person could do in my eyes ;)

I loved that ep so much.

The Lubow/Paul conversation at the party rocked, I really want more scenes with those two together.

And Yay! for a doll friendship.

I loved that ep so much.

Yeah, this episode was good times :D Humor, action and femslash, what more could I want?

The Lubow/Paul conversation at the party rocked, I really want more scenes with those two together.

Yeah, that was great. I love those two together. Tahmoh and Enver have a good chemistry together.

And Yay! for a doll friendship.

Totes. I'm looking forward to seeing it developed. One tiny head shake should not have made me so happy, but it did. Damn, Mutant Enemy is good. Third episode and something like a head shake can already get me squeeing.

Tahmoh and Enver have a good chemistry together.

Yes. And I didn't expect Envers to be such a good actor.

[identity profile] fembuck.livejournal.com 2009-03-01 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
:D

I'm really happy that Tahmoh's actually getting a chance to act here as well. I fond him pretty but a bit wooden on BSG (A wooden Adonis ... shout out to Al Gore!) so seeing him emoting and stuff is fun.

And I didn't expect Envers to be such a good actor.

I didn't really know what to expect from Enver or Dichen, and I'm really impressed with both of them. Joss does a good job casting relatively unknown actors.

OH man, when I saw the previews for this - Echo Joins the Pussycat Dolls - let's just say I wasn't looking forward to last night. So color me surprised at how much I enjoyed it. Especially the last fifteen minutes. I loved that look between Echo and Sierra at the end!

And, yes, those two are so very, very gay for each other!

when I saw the previews for this - Echo Joins the Pussycat Dolls - let's just say I wasn't looking forward to last night.

LOL! I know. I was like, "Doesn't this episode usually happen in the 4th season when you're starting to run out of ideas?"

Especially the last fifteen minutes. I loved that look between Echo and Sierra at the end!

That look was a thing of beauty. I totes loved Echo expanding her mission parameters to save 'her friend' as well. Good stuff. I can't wait until like episode 6, which is where Eliza says the show really hits its stride. It's good now, so I can't wait to see what it's like when it gets it's sea legs.

And, yes, those two are so very, very gay for each other!

Exceedingly. I'm very happy that Dichen Lachman is bringing the gay as well. We knew Eliza would, but it's nice to see all of the other actresses stepping up to the plate as well :D

I still haven't seen the first two eps.

I loved the sub-text, but I'm still a little if-y about this show.

I miss BtVS and Firefly, dammit.

:/

[identity profile] fembuck.livejournal.com 2009-03-01 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd saw watch the second, and the third. The majority of the pilot kind of sucked, though the last half hour was pretty good.

I'm digging the show so far, though I know some people are up in arms about it being exploitative. The show keeps me interested and entertained, and three episodes in I'm not going to condemn it. I have no idea where it's going, but I want to find out.

*seconds the missing of BtVS and Firefly ... though mostly Firefly since Buffy had a good run*

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_slutknot_/ 2009-03-03 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
Same here.
I'm just happy I friggin' remembered to watch it and Terminator.

I always get distracted by the damn ghost shows.
CURSE THEM.

[identity profile] putakeepareyou.livejournal.com 2009-03-01 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
Oh man, that was awesome! :D
And yes, Dollhouse just keeps getting gayer and gayer. Seriously. Haha.
Geeky!Sierra was so damn cute! And her "friendship" with Echo is really endearing.
I think it was Eliza singing, though I'm not sure. It sounded like it. *shrugs* If it was, she's really good.
And is it just me, or that little dance when Jordan got the job was just like Missy, on Bring it on? I mean, really.
And Adelle? Oh, Adelle. That accent just kills me! So freakin' hot.
Topher is amazing! I just love him. He's so damn cute too. And his lines are just priceless. Hahaha.
I don't know if I like Claire and Boyd being "buddies". *shrugs* I'm not sure why, though.
Anyway, great chapter. I just want more and more. Dammit Joss Whedon. Dammit Eliza. Dammit all the gayness in that show. :P

Adelle icon! Love!

[identity profile] fembuck.livejournal.com 2009-03-01 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
And yes, Dollhouse just keeps getting gayer and gayer.

One of the many reasons to love this show! lol

Geeky!Sierra was so damn cute!

I loved Geeky!Sierra so much! So cute.

And her "friendship" with Echo is really endearing.

So true. They are so sweet with each other. And it brings out Echo's inner-butch, which is fantastic. Eliza is best when she's allowed to be a little butch.

I think it was Eliza singing

It's been confirmed it was. I'm impressed.

Oh, Adelle. That accent just kills me! So freakin' hot.

I know! Every time Adelle opens her mouth I swoon. Her accent is just so crisp, and wonderful and ... I'll be in my bunk!

[identity profile] seriousfic.livejournal.com 2009-03-01 06:39 am (UTC)(link)
I can decode your Doll-speak.

It's not that hard. Just add "in bed" to the end of every sentence.

Echo: I didn't want you to get hurt in bed. You're my friend in bed.

Adelle: Friends help each other out in bed.

Echo: Yes, they do in bed.

[identity profile] fembuck.livejournal.com 2009-03-01 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
lol.

This = Truth.

[identity profile] pictureplaces.livejournal.com 2009-03-01 06:58 am (UTC)(link)
Okay this whole recap made me LOL a lot!

and it was totally Eliza's voice! Ssomeone linked me to her singing karaoke with friends on youtube and her voice is awesome :D I mean its not AMAAAAZING but its nice to listen to :)

Sierra seeing Echo in the Dollhouse was such a cute moment i though she was going to jump on echo and be like "OH HAI BABE. *SNUGGLES*"It would have been adorable. Now, lets hope that Joss picks up on the subtext he's creating this time.

[identity profile] fembuck.livejournal.com 2009-03-01 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)

lol, I'm glad my insane ramblings amused someone! I was so hyper when I wrote this ;)

Sierra seeing Echo in the Dollhouse was such a cute moment i though she was going to jump on echo and be like "OH HAI BABE. *SNUGGLES*

Oh, I know. She looked SO happy. That smile on her face when she saw Echo was dazzling. They are so into each other.

Now, lets hope that Joss picks up on the subtext he's creating this time.

What, all this talk of Eliza singing and no one's going to say it? Okay, I will.

Dear Joss,

Where is our bonus musical number to Once More With Feeling where Faith sings jaunty prison tunes? Jailhouse Rock? Scenes from Chicago? Anything? Bueller?

Now, I have to go work on fic where the Dollhouse is an AU Wolfram and Hart, where Fred ended up after Illyria took over her body. Thank you and good day.
