RANT POST!
So, RL has been monopolizing all of my haterade for the last week or so (working with a raging narcissit is really, really, really not fun, FYI). RL ranting however, is not nearly as fun as Hollows ranting because I'm faced with the irritation every day. This means that I am really, really in need of fun ranting, and thankfully CB has posted some more answers to fan questions providing the perfect opportunity for such an event! Yay!

Hey Kim, I was wondering if I missed something in the last two books concerning the kiss that Ivy gave Rachel and the questions that it made Rachel ask herself concerning how she feels about Ivy? Unless I missed something in the last books they dealt with the blood balance issue but never mentioned the kiss. Also I never saw Rachel answer any of the question she had about herself such as was it Ivy that made her feel so good or just the blood etc. Has these issues been resolved or are they going to reappear in the future?
4/21/09 -- The resolution between Ivy and Rachel won't happen until the end of the series, which is why they are both exploring other options right now. There is no way I can carry on that sexual tension for a dozen books and not have everyone yawning ho, hum, but we will return to it in the last book to settle the issue, one way or the other. --Kim.

'If U Seek Amy' gently with a chainsaw! I mean, really ... DAAAAAAMN, gurl! Jesus H. Christ, woman! I'd say ...

But I can't even front and pretend that I am surprised by this. Actually, I fully expected that she wouldn't conclusively address "Ravy" until the last book. That was fine, when the series was supposed to be six books long. That's not cool now if we're only halfway through the series. I'm sorry, but the issues between Rachel and Ivy are really big effing issues! You cannot ignore the sexual tension (and declarations of love) between them for like five more books! It's insane. People do not stop having feelings for each other because they got series extensions. Seeing other people hasn't stopped the issues between them for seven books, so why would it suddenly be a non-issue between them? You cannot ignore it because it is inconvenient. It has to go somewhere!

Ugh! GROW A PAIR! IT'S TIME TO HOPE OF THE FUCKING FENCE! Seriously, Shit or get off the pot, my friend.
The subtext between them IS NOT going to stop. Cock Block is incapable of not writing Rachel subconsciously being attracted to Ivy, so the sexual tension is going to remain no matter who the two of them are dating. So deal with it. Find a way to make it work. Ignoring it is not making it work.
Have Ivy and Rachel go for it. Get them together. Ivy's still got issues, and Rachel is still an immature jackass so it doesn't have to work out perfectly . Just because they admit their attraction and sleep together it doesn't been that angels will sing and that's the end of everything. Cock Block, listen to me, you're good at cock-blocking ... so use you're powers for good this time!
I know Cock Block could think of some way to temporary break them up after having them get together. She can spend a book getting them together, a book cock-blocking after they get together, a book of angst that deals with the break-up, and then two more books having them slowly work their way back together.
What about the het fans you may say, I've got a solution for that as well.
In the angst section when they are broken up, Cock Block can have them try with other people. She can see what the characters tell her to do. From there, she could decide to:
1) Keep them broken up. But hey, at least they got a shot together. At least seven books of sexual tension wasn't completely fucking wasted. From there, maybe Ivy gets together with a chick that will actually appreciate her, and Rachel ends up with some boring idiot.
2) They get back together eventually. Their new love interests don't work out, just like none of their love interests did. It's an angsty battle but eventually Ravy find their way back to each other and live happily ever after (as it should be).
The point is, this allows for movement forward, but it still gives Cock Block room to cock-block while acknowledging what has been building for seven books without painting Cock Block into a corner for the end of series!

And I'm done.

I only got started reading these @#$#%%@@% books because of your fanfic so now I'm hooked (on your fanfic, not necessarily the KH books :).... I too am frustrated with the back and forth, not quite getting there nature of the Ravy relationship but I have to say, I would be more upset to see them get together now to have KH then break them up for awhile, than I will be if she were to have them dabble in others then ultimately "see the light" at the end. She can have all kinds of storylines for the next few books that just focus on general non-romantic things (though I suppose for Rachel that would be asking too much) that would 'delay the talk' for them for another few books. I also have to admit I didn't really grasp an inevitable Ivy/Glen relationship in WWBC and will be extremely disappointed if KH goes down that road. The least she can do is give us Ivy in a not-totally-dysfunctional relationship with a woman so that we can all say "un huh, Rachel, see there, that be what you missin' Chica!" To me, KH having Ivy in a relationship with a man won't be nearly as threatening to Rachel's "Ivy worships me so I can have her whenever I want' mindset as having her in a relationship with another woman would. Just my 1 cent (because the dollar sucks right now ;0)

Consider yourself lucky. The books are going from awesome into a swirling vortex of suck that I am having the damnest time trying to pull myself out of. It's like an abusive relationship. I know better, but I keep coming back for more. *sigh*

My thing is that I am becoming more and more and more convinced every day that she REALLY doesn't intend for them to be together in the end. I honestly don't think that it will happen. If I did, I wouldn't want a temporary hookup. But she's beaten me down to the point, where I just want SOMETHING to happen between them so that I haven't wasted X amount of money and a butt-load of time reading these books only to be
at the end of the series.

Honestly, I would love it if she dialed back the romance (ALL romance, not just Ravy). The reason why I love the first book so much is because it was a lot of plot, and very little romance. But I don't think that CB will ever go back to those simpler (more enjoyable) times. I think the next book is going to be full of Pierce shenanigans, will probably introduce another male character who will be Rachel's next love interest, and will shit on Ivy as usual by having things go horribly wrong between her and Glenn.
To me, KH having Ivy in a relationship with a man won't be nearly as threatening to Rachel's "Ivy worships me so I can have her whenever I want' mindset as having her in a relationship with another woman would.
Exactly. Which is why I think she chose to have Ivy with a man at this point. She's really pushing the whole 'friendship' thing. Rachel got batshit jealous when Skimmer was around which came off really fucking gay. When Glenn, Rachel won't feel threatened, will probably be supportive (when she pulls her head out of her ass long enough to even realize they are dating), and therefore Cock Block manages to avoid the Ravy UST.
I just have no faith in K.H.
right now. She's playing both sides of the fields, but when she's forced to pick one side I think she'll come down on the side of Rachel/random dude.
