Fringe - 1x18 - "Midnight"

Two Singles Together?   LOL.  I love Olivia for being all ...

You know she was thinking, "Rachel and I love doing EVERYTHING together.  Especially naked."  Because she and Rachel continue to be stupidly couple-y.  Rachel invited over another PTA couple and Olivia was all like, "OMG, company?  I just got home from work!" about the whole thing.  Nodding while secretly looking at the clock.

Also, Olivia moved really fast on that getting a divorce attorney thing.  That makes her really eager (and in my non-dream world, a really great sister, cause she didn't even back down when Broyles gave her the hundred-yard stare)

Is it wrong that I kind of like the killer!lady because she has freaky Underworld vampire eyes?

Olivia is a really good sister-girlfriend.  I would want her to comfort me if my douchy almost ex-husband was trying to steal my child.  If her comforting words failed, I'm pretty sure she would shoot him.  And then probably come home and fix me dinner and snuggle with me.  Then I'd slowly take out her pony-tail until her luscious Serena van der Woodsen-esque hair cascaded around her shoulders and I'd lean forward and slowly ... *cough*   Uh, yeah ...

Syphilitic Spinal Fluid Vampires?  Eww.  I mean she is kinda hot, but ewwwwwww.

Aw, Walter and Syphilis!Doctor discussing the Mad Scientists burden.  Such a moving moment of  ... wait, stfu!  You make Syphilitic Spinal Fluid Vampires, you don't get to cry me a river.  Both of you are create-first-think-second assholes (good husband, but still...)

Major science fail, guys!

And yes, I will chuckle at Walter (I mean, dude did order a The Clapper) but he is still a HUGE bastard.

Astrid, you have my respect for even trying at this point.  You talk sense, but you are surrounded by MADNESS!

"I think she liked you."  Hee.  Everyone likes Olivia.  She's like an Urban Fantasy heroine.  No one can resist her.  In other news, almost being strangled to death is a good look on Olivia.  It does wonderful things to her hair.

THERE HAS NOT BEEN ENOUGH NINA SHARP IN RECENT EPISODES.  Okay, the previews showed that she's going to be in the next episode so I am pacified ... for now ...

Also ... Hilary Duff, are you on Law and Order: SVU?  WUT?????  OMG, Hilary Duff are you acting, like in a way that's not completely embarassing?  WUT?  Also, "Well, get in there and get a confession before she remembers her favorite episode of Judge Judy and lawyers up,"  "And you're full of the usual,"  "What's next, the Black Plague?"  LOL.  I love you Cabot.  Also, you get better and better looking every time I see you.  Seriously, I would tap that like Fred Astaire, for serious.

My only question is, why was she crying in the first place when the divorce papers came? Living with Olivia > living with Greg.

Living with Olivia > living with Greg.

Gospel Truth.

I choose to believe that she was crying when she got the papers, because they had guests over, and all she wanted to do was push Olivia down on the table and have her way with her. So, she was real sad though people were there and should tap that like it was hot, and cried about it.

Agrees much...

This actually was a pretty good episode, I do believe. I felt kind of bad for Olivia and Rachel and the whole "Two Singles Together" odd couple. I felt kind of uncomfortable, especially for Olivia.

I am really looking forward to next week's ep. I brought the frelling first three episodes on iTunes so I could get my Nina fix. I'm hoping Nina gets screen time that is indirectly proportional to that in all the other episodes...

Thanks for the review!

I was so amused by her in this scene. Anna Torv does an amazing, "I'm smiling but I think you're both fucking weirdos" face. And yeah, that couple was really uncomfortable. Rachel should have known better, so I didn't feel bad for her awkwardness. But, Olivia just got stuck. You know Rachel threw that shit at her like right after she walked in the door so Olivia couldn't say no 'to drinks with friends'.

I like Fringe. It's my kind of show. A lot of same elements as in X-Files but the plot seems to go forward instead of being constantly stuck on "Truth is out there." I would probably watch just for Anna Torv and John Noble. I actually like all the characters in the show and the pseudo-science is done well: I can suspend my disbelief enough.

I actually even look forward even to the custody battle of Olivia's sis' kid. Which makes me chagrined of myself.

Olivia is a really good sister-girlfriend. I would want her to comfort me if my douchy almost ex-husband was trying to steal my child. ROFL. You should warn first before saying something like that so the reader can prevent shooting energy drink from his or her nose.

Mine too. This is the kind of show that I can watch for seasons and seasons without getting bored.

I would probably watch just for Anna Torv and John Noble.

This. I'm so happy that's Anna's loosened up in the role and is being so great now. I was worried the first few episodes, but now she's charming and captivating as hell.

Also, can we throw Astrid in there. I feel like Olivia and Walter would need someone to talk sense into them every now and again, plus it would allow for slashing Olivia.

I actually even look forward even to the custody battle of Olivia's sis' kid. Which makes me chagrined of myself.

*small voice* Me too. Because I know Olivia will be in super-duper awesome sister mode, and they'll be hugging each other a lot, and there's no way Rachel will move out while this is going on so there'll be more domestic bliss scenes. Olivia being the protective big sister is the dreamiest thing ever. She is totally the Ivy to Rachel's ... uh, Rachel (ohh, weird man. I just weirded myself out with that!).

You should warn first before saying something like that so the reader can prevent shooting energy drink from his or her nose

You must be prepared for ANYTHING on this journal to end in "Then I'd slowly take out her pony-tail until her luscious Serena van der Woodsen-esque hair cascaded around her shoulders and I'd lean forward and slowly ... " territory. It's the way my mind works ;) So, drink with caution!

Because she and Rachel continue to be stupidly couple-y.

God yes, they are! Like, I know Anna Torv's straight and Olivia's *supposed* to be straight, but Anna Torv *never* looked at Mark Valley (who she's friggin' *engaged* to) like she looks at the chick playing Rachel!! So I'm going to continue to forget that they're playing sisters and maintain my delusion of them being two exes re-connecting and raising their little sprocket together. Sure, Rachel's a little wary because it was Olivia's addiction to getting blowjobs from strippers that broke them up in the first place but 'the Dunham' can NOT be denied.

"OMG, company? I just got home from work!"

... "And was totally planning to screw you on the kitchen table!"

Also, Olivia moved really fast on that getting a divorce attorney thing.

Ha, I love how she was all 'Phillip, could I have your divorce attorney's number so I don't have to killinate some bitches!'.

Such a moving moment of ... wait, stfu! You make Syphilitic Spinal Fluid Vampires, you don't get to cry me a river.

Seriously. Made Syphilitic Spinal Fluid AND experimented ON HIS WIFE!! And Walter, though I love him, doesn't get a free pass either. Someone who goes all 'mad scientist' on HIS OWN CHILD, let alone other people's children, doesn't get to be all 'boo-hoo, can I has redemption now?'. I can't *wait* for Olivia to realize it was Walter that experimented on her 'cuz SHIT'S GONNA BE ON!!

Married to now. AND I KNOW! Like, Anna just looks so charmed by the woman that plays Rachel all the time. Like she gazes at her softly, like she's the most precious thing in the world. The bliss just shines through when they're together (I'd even like to take this opportunity to point out that Anna's acting as even improved this Rachel was added. Olivia was stiff as hell at the beginning, but once Rachel came into the scene Olivia the character has loosened up and become way more fun - and thus Anna has loosened up too).

So I'm going to continue to forget that they're playing sisters and maintain my delusion of them being two exes re-connecting and raising their little sprocket together.

This. Everything is so much more enjoyable that way.

Sure, Rachel's a little wary because it was Olivia's addiction to getting blowjobs from strippers that broke them up in the first place but 'the Dunham' can NOT be denied.

LOL, omg you crack me up. I think getting blowjobs from strippers makes the Dunham even more attractive. Mm, Olivia getting blowjobs from strippers ....

I love how she was all 'Phillip, could I have your divorce attorney's number so I don't have to killinate some bitches!'.

Word. Broyles was totally giving her his 'I am scary, scary man' angry face

Image

and Olivia was all, "I don't care man, we're talking Rachel in my bed forever, I want that number!!!!!"

This. It's like I'll watch Walter, and laugh at him, and hope he solves the case, but I am aware and always will be what a major douche he is.

And Olivia's rage will be EPIC when she finds out about Walter. I cannot believe that shit. Epic shit will go down. Epic.

[identity profile] trancer21.livejournal.com 2009-04-29 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I think getting blowjobs from strippers makes the Dunham even more attractive.

I don't think I could live in a world where Olivia getting blowjobs from strippers makes her *less* attractive. Like, Olivia in her 'Undercover Underground Club Gear', back up against some seedy alley wall, jeans pushed down to her knees while some random strippers face is buried in her crotch.. I'm sorry, I seem to have lost my train of thought there!

God, we really need an Olivia Dunham Kink meme or something, but that shit is hot like burning. That image is now seared into my brain and I thank you for it because it is glorious. And ... uh, I gotta go other uses for the hands now ...

LOL I'm totally with you on that!

What I love most about the episode was probably Olivia in leather jacket~ Nyahaha.

You know she was thinking, "Rachel and I love doing EVERYTHING together. Especially naked." Because she and Rachel continue to be stupidly couple-y.
LOL. Totally. I heard a podcast today that said Rachel looked like she wants to make out with Olivia every time they're on screen together~ Olivia doesn't exactly help matters with the way she looks at her 'sister'...she doesn't even look at John Scott or Peter that way. And Rachel's SOS phone call when they were all preparing for a 'meeting' cracked me up. I'd so have her as my sister (if I can't have her as a gf, haha). Seriously, if they censor out the 'aunt' and 'sister' out of the script, I can totally imagine a gay household scenario.

But...I think there are some deeper stuff going on with the whole Rachel/Ella being introduced other than injecting some colour into Olivia's life. Rachel seems like she's hiding something. There were a couple of times where they were interrupted when she was trying to talk...I don't know what. Something like 'I'm not your sister'? Lol...as ideal as that would be, I wouldn't want them to be a part of the 'fringe' mythology. Just a normal part of Olivia's life to keep things grounded.

Yes! Thank god others see it. I mean, they really really do look at each other like they want to rip each others clothes off, devour each other and then snuggle up together in a blanket while watching the daily show.

Seriously, if they censor out the 'aunt' and 'sister' out of the script, I can totally imagine a gay household scenario.

So true. Hell, I think they keep throwing the word sister in there just to stop people from thinking that, but IT'S NOT WORKING! They are just too gay for each other for anything to stop the homo-rays from escaping.

I wouldn't want them to be a part of the 'fringe' mythology. Just a normal part of Olivia's life to keep things grounded.

This. I really don't want either of them to be 'special' you know, to have something to do with the bigger picture. I just want them to be Olivia's support system. That normal stabilizing factor in her life that keeps her from going nutty. Give her something to come home to and something to believe in/fight for, not to mention someone to hold her after a really bad day.

LOL love the post but i can't see the first pic. *whines*

<.< so... are you gonna write any Olivia/Rachel fic?

[identity profile] fembuck.livejournal.com 2009-04-30 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
but i can't see the first pic.

Weird. Are you getting the bandwidth exceeded message? If so, the picture should be up again tomorrow.

so... are you gonna write any Olivia/Rachel fic?

I'm not opposed to the idea, but no bursts of inspiration have come to me. RL is stressing me right now, so my fic writing it suffering at the moment. *sigh* I'd totally go there though. If RL wasn't cock-blocking me right now, I'd already have started in the the In Plain Sight Brandi/Mary stuff again, so Olivia/Rachel would be right up my alley, lol

[identity profile] ic1pher.livejournal.com 2009-04-30 07:11 am (UTC)(link)
In Plain Sight Brandi/Mary
*cries a bit* (so beautiful)
If I just didn't find it so weird between family members... :(

Have you watched the latest In Plain Sight (second ep of second season)? I really NEED someone to write hot shrink/Mary fic. It would be gold. Please. I love that ep.

"I think she liked you." Hee. Everyone likes Olivia. She's like an Urban Fantasy heroine. No one can resist her.

When Peter said this line I was LOL because I thought the girl attacked just guys but then she chose Olivia instead of Peter, how convenient.
Just the kind of convenient like they bringing Olivia's boyfriend in the first episode. Their way of saying "she's not gay OK? we have a boyfriend to prove it" *coughblakelivelycough* But we know better of course.

Also, with the whole experimenting thing Olivia had in her childhood, I still waiting for them to say that she's adopted so I can ship Rachel/Olivia properly :D lol
