Legend of the Seeker - 2x09 - Dark
It's a bit late, but my hangover's finally gone so here goes ...
This episode was such a mixed bag!
1. Cara and Kahlan are fucking adorable. As has been stated before, their conversation on feelings was the highlight of the episode for me. I adored Kahlan's bemused patience with Cara. Kahlan really does get now that Cara isn't intentionally a rude asshat, she just needs things that she doesn't understand explained. In fact, I would have died a little if Cara had responded with "Thank you for explaining" after the talk. Cara's offer to help Kahlan fix her emotions was too sexy for words, as was the sultry way she emphasized 'pride'. Also, I just loved Tabby's delivery of "Then why are you sitting on the ground weeping over a sword?"
2. Leo. Oh, so conflicted. I kind of hated him when he showed up, but the chimpmonks coversations (and Cara's reaction to it) kind of won me over a little bit. I felt much like Cara, I was chagrined with myself for actually finding him kind of funny/cute in that scene. Ultimately, I think the character is going to have a short run on the show, and the actor has some charisma so I think I'll be able to stand him while he's around. Especially is Cara keeps on giggling, which was precious. Maybe it was a little out of character for her to smile in front of him, but Tabby's so cute that I couldn't hate on it.
Plus, I don't think Leo will be presented as Cara's one true love or anything. The girl just wants to get some and found him amusing for half a second. TPTB have done a good job setting up Richard and especially Kahlan as the ones who will teach Cara about feelings and have show those two (especially Kahlan) as the ones to drawn real, genuine emotions out of Cara, and I don't think they would mess that up. If they do pull any Leo + Cara = True luv shenanigans THEY BETTER WATCH THEIR BACKS! He's the type you 'hit and quit' Cara, Kahlan's the type you take home to the temple and introduce to the Head Mistress ;)
3. And since we're talking about that scene ... I LOVED THAT CARA AND KAHLAN LIKE SLEEP RIGHT NEXT TO EACH OTHER NOW! Oh, they've come so far since the days of Kahlan sleeping with a dagger under her pillow. Kahlan likes to grin at Cara and speak to her like she's a little puppy, and Cara's all "Shut up!" but then secretly smiles. *pinches their cheeks* So cuuuuuuuute.
4. Richard proved to be not quite as dumb as I feared. Honestly, I'm always surprised when Richard isn't dumb. I'm glad he managed to work that shit out though, if only so that he can be named the Seeker again and kick Leo to the curb so that Kahlan can go back to being the one who makes Cara smile.
In conclusion, this show makes things that I'm not even that thrilled about kind of work and therefore it is awesome.
