Legend of the Seeker - 2x09 - Dark
It's a bit late, but my hangover's finally gone so here goes ...
This episode was such a mixed bag!
1. Cara and Kahlan are fucking adorable. As has been stated before, their conversation on feelings was the highlight of the episode for me. I adored Kahlan's bemused patience with Cara. Kahlan really does get now that Cara isn't intentionally a rude asshat, she just needs things that she doesn't understand explained. In fact, I would have died a little if Cara had responded with "Thank you for explaining" after the talk. Cara's offer to help Kahlan fix her emotions was too sexy for words, as was the sultry way she emphasized 'pride'. Also, I just loved Tabby's delivery of "Then why are you sitting on the ground weeping over a sword?"
2. Leo. Oh, so conflicted. I kind of hated him when he showed up, but the chimpmonks coversations (and Cara's reaction to it) kind of won me over a little bit. I felt much like Cara, I was chagrined with myself for actually finding him kind of funny/cute in that scene. Ultimately, I think the character is going to have a short run on the show, and the actor has some charisma so I think I'll be able to stand him while he's around. Especially is Cara keeps on giggling, which was precious. Maybe it was a little out of character for her to smile in front of him, but Tabby's so cute that I couldn't hate on it.
Plus, I don't think Leo will be presented as Cara's one true love or anything. The girl just wants to get some and found him amusing for half a second. TPTB have done a good job setting up Richard and especially Kahlan as the ones who will teach Cara about feelings and have show those two (especially Kahlan) as the ones to drawn real, genuine emotions out of Cara, and I don't think they would mess that up. If they do pull any Leo + Cara = True luv shenanigans THEY BETTER WATCH THEIR BACKS! He's the type you 'hit and quit' Cara, Kahlan's the type you take home to the temple and introduce to the Head Mistress ;)
3. And since we're talking about that scene ... I LOVED THAT CARA AND KAHLAN LIKE SLEEP RIGHT NEXT TO EACH OTHER NOW! Oh, they've come so far since the days of Kahlan sleeping with a dagger under her pillow. Kahlan likes to grin at Cara and speak to her like she's a little puppy, and Cara's all "Shut up!" but then secretly smiles. *pinches their cheeks* So cuuuuuuuute.
4. Richard proved to be not quite as dumb as I feared. Honestly, I'm always surprised when Richard isn't dumb. I'm glad he managed to work that shit out though, if only so that he can be named the Seeker again and kick Leo to the curb so that Kahlan can go back to being the one who makes Cara smile.
In conclusion, this show makes things that I'm not even that thrilled about kind of work and therefore it is awesome.

Also, I kind of liked Leo? If just because he made Cara smile with jokes about chipmunks (which brings to mind the books' plot line about the chipmunks, which was the most adorable thing EVAR).
And he wasn't actually a horse-thief, something I was afraid they would really make him

Awww, I can picture it and it makes my heart happy. Cara would be all grumpy, like, "I don't want to, go to your side", and Kahlan would be all bemused like, "You know you like it. You sleep better when we spoon. Or maybe you'd prefer spooning with Leo?" and Cara's be like, "Just shut up and hold me."

I didn't like him up until the chimpmunks thing, but I thought that was pretty funny, and he made Cara giggle and now I kind of like him. Not enough to want him to stick around for a long time, but enough to see his storyline through without being constantly irritated.

What's this chimpmunks plot you speak of? Is it as hilarious as the chicken that's not a chicken plot?

Richard uses chipmunks to help the Mord'Sith learn how to care about other people. They were all predictably (and hilariously) irritated by the whole idea at first, but then they kind of bonded with the chipmunks and started liking feeding them and stuff. When Raina (one of the two lesbian Mord'Sith) dies, she asks to go out and feed 'her' chipmunk on last time. It's all rather touching in the end actually.

This needs to be fic-ed, ASAP

lol, brilliant. Now I kind of want Cara to have a pet chimpmunk on the show. She could keep it in her pack when they're traveling, and then she could pet it around the fire at night, and teach it how to sneak under Kahlan's skirt and tickle her.

UGH!
Re: UGH!
Cara and Kahlan really do make this show for me.

I do wish there'd been some kind of talk in regards to Cara's motivations. Because now that a new Seeker has been named, she's still there because she made a promise to Richard/Lord Rahl to protect Kahlan. Lol, he might be cute and a great lay but I think she'll use him as a human shield if it means protecting Kahlan!

This is pretty much why I like him as well. I know he's not going to be a long time obstacle/interest for Cara, he's entertaining enough, and finally someone recognizes the pure sex that is Cara. I mean she agieled him the first time he saw her, and he was still all like "so how you doin'?"
Plus, it led to the revelation that KAHLAN AND CARA SLEEP NEXT TO EACH OTHER!!
I was so happy about this. They've come so far, those two! Kahlan's teasing, and Cara's "I'm just gonna turn my back and ignore you" cracked me up and made me awwwwww.

I liked that as soon as Kahlan said she was going after Richard, Cara was like "I'mma come with you" because Kahlan and Richard ARE her priority, and a cute piece of ass isn't gonna distract her. She'll giggle for Leo, but she's got Kahlan's back.

Oh ye gods how much would I love to see that? Lots. Lots.

Cara and Kahlan were, again, the highpoint of the episode and I love the progress in their relationship. There wasn't enough of them together but what there was, was pure win.
I agree that Cara's smile in front of Leo was out of character but it was rather lovely to see, and even lovelier when Kahlan teased her about it (they've gone from mortal enemies to teasing sleep mates in nine episodes, just imagine where they could be by the end of the season?).

I'm right there with you. Richard often annoys the hell out of me. Leo at least was kind of charming and funny, whereas I just find Richard too heroic to be interesting. Craig is awesome, but Richard is often a frustrating bore.

This. They as individuals and their development of their relationship are the best parts of the show. I'm glued to screen when they're on.
but it was rather lovely to see
Totally. Tabrett's face just lit up. It was so adorable. Also, right when she lost it and smiled was when I lost it and smiled too, so I felt like I bonded with Cara. Leo won us both over at the same time.

I know. I'm so pleased with how their relationship has developed. Every episode I'm waiting to see what new cute moment there will be between them. They make my heart happy.

So much yes, she's dying to use her Agiel on her some more, among other things...
I won't mention what I think about the Leo character because I'll just get homicidal.

I highly doubt they'll kill off Cara (but it would be nice to still make her the gay Mord'Sith we all know she is).
