Alice in Wonderland
I saw Alice in Wonderland in beautiful IMAX 3-D last night. It was a fun little adventure and visually really stunning. Helena Bonham Carter is the official HBIC of the film. She really does steal the show. Not only did I find the Queen of Heart hilarious, I also really sympathized for her. Even with that planet sized cranium and Lady Gaga lipstick Helena managed to infuse the Queen with a lot of humanity. I felt like if someone had just given her and her huge head more hugs as a child that all of
Anne Hathaway was HBIC in training. I was skeptical about the White Queen based on the few glimpses of her we got in the trailer, but she ended up being my second favorite character after the Queen of Hearts. She was also in a lot more of the movie than I thought she would be which was nice. Kudos to Anne for the way she made the White Queen move so delicately, but also managed to make her creepy as hell and intimidating at certain points. I also have to say, that was not expecting The White Queen and Alice to be so femslashy together. I loved the White Queen wanting Alice to be her champion and then dressing her up in flashy pants suits and sparkling armor. And the two of them exchanged some looks that were just, 'oh get a room you two!'
Mia Wasikowska did a really good job as Alice too. For the most part her role was a lot less flashy than the other roles in the movie, but when Alice decided to get her Muchness on, Mia was really able to step up and became quite engaging. Plus, she was very good at making eyes at Anne Hathaway.
Overall, it was a really enjoyable movie.
TBH though, one of the best things about watching Alice in Wonderland was ...
The TRON LEGACY 3D TRAILER!
*shaking and crying*
That movie looks sick as hell! Honestly, I didn't even really love the first TRON and I was fangirling like crazy. And ladies! LADIES YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE! You get your first look at Olivia Wilde in the movie, and she is glorious. Seriously, it's like think of how hot Olivia Wilde usually is, and then like triple it. She's lying coquettishly on a couch people. That image is seared into my mind. I cannot believe that this movie does not come out until December. The wait makes me want to cry.

anyway, AH was quite creepy and I am glad I wasn't the only one who thought so.
and the whole thing was quite femmeslashy on top (srsly, the knight thing?).

Yeah, HBC did a great job. And I appreciate that the character wasn't written as complete evil. I think most people would have been able to see a bit of themselves in the Queen's character.

Most definitely. That scene in the kitchen where she was making the de-bigifying potion was creepy. As were her "it's against my vows" comments, cause you could tell she'd just find an even crueler way to screw you over, lol.
srsly, the knight thing?
I know. So wonderfully gay.

I haven't seen any fic yet, but I'm definitely keeping my eyes out (and will probably attempt to write one myself)

Still, "Champion" *swoon* I loved the suave pants suit the White Queen dressed Alice in for their romantic talk on the balcony as well, lol.

HBC rocked my socks off. I'm in love with her first scene, because the poem they based it off of is my favorite nursery rhyme EVER. You're totally right about her making the character sympathetic- I felt so bad for her when she found out everyone was lying to her! "You're right...it is better to be feared than loved." You could pretty much see her heart hardening. And the speech impediment was endearing..."I'm the eldest! It's my cwown!"
Anne Hathaway was totally rocking the "Creepy Aunt" vibe. Especially when they were in the kitchen. The way she dodged the Hare's flying concoctions was epic :)

lol. One of my favorite parts, at least. That trailer was kickass.

This. I totally got a little misty-eyed. I really felt for her with the "I'm the eldest! It's my crown" line as well. It's hard to be the one that's left out of things or looked over.
Plus, I'll love her forever for her love of her fat boys, lol.

Word. Buttered fingers. EWWWWWWxinfinity. Still, the way she fed the potion to Alice was kind of sexy. Anne really managed a perfect mix of hot and creepy.

That was def the creepy aunt part I was thinking of. "Blow." Ummm...yes ma'am...
And I totes want the outfit she gave Alice.

And I was totally digging the femslashy vibe I was getting from Alice & the White Queen. I thought Anne played the character quite beautifully, and now I officially have a crush on her. lol.

Yes. They were delicious together.

Heh! You know, this movie (and to a smaller degree Valentine's Day) have really renewed my Anne crush as well. I totally came out of this movie wanting to be Alice so that I could impress the White Queen and have her fawn all over me and dress me in fancy clothes, lol.

and Olivia Wilde is in tron? *adds to 'to see' list*
Oh did you see that apparently Resident Evil: Afterlife is coming out on September 10 of this year(and apparently in 3d as well)?
[From an article linked to IMDB]
On her Twitter feed earlier this evening, actress Milla Jovovich announced that the first trailer for the fourth installment of the "Resident Evil" franchise, "Resident Evil: Afterlife", will be premiering at the end of April in front of New Line's remake of "A Nightmare On Elm Street". The first 3D installment of the action-horror series is scheduled for September 10.

and Olivia Wilde is in tron?
Correct and correct. And OW being in TRON was originally why I was excited for it, but the trailer was also pretty amazingly kickass as well.
RE: Afterlife this september? FUCK YEAH! In 3-D is even better. Anything that brings Milla and Ali closer to me is a-okay in my books. Bring on the 3D

They were delicious on screen.

THAT WAS BEAUTIFUL AND FANTABULOUS AND PRETTY AND FEMSLASHY AND THERE WAS ~DANCING AT THE END! NOW THAT'S HOW YOU MAKE A MOVIE!! :D
I wish I had paid more attention to everyone's names, and places and things and basically if I could have taken my eyes off of Alice's purty exposed shoulders for like 2 seconds that would have been very helpful, because I want to write fic but I have no grasp of anything loooooool. /:
I actually kinda wanna see young!redqueen/young!whitequeen fic. Sibling rivalry always makes for gooooooood slashyness. And you were absolutely right! I feel for the red queen and her mummsie and daddsie issues :'(
AHHHHHH *moar squeeing*

LOL! I know right! I LOVED Alice gettin' down at the end. It was unexpected and just perfect.

lol, I know. I'm trying to write a fic for this and I had to write 'the queen' for like the first half of it because I couldn't remember what her name was. Now I know it's Mirana thanks to a post below, but there are definitely little plot points I wish I'd been paying closer attention to.

So true. All one needs to do is look at Blackcest (oh, HBC keep on having chemistry with your on screen sisters, you know that we love it!)
I feel for the red queen and her mummsie and daddsie issues :'(
She was schmoopy. I wanted to hug her.

Oooh, thanks for reminding me that's out. I needs to get the DVD and watch the commentary tomorrow. Oh god, I hope that commentary is epic. Those girls are so funny, if the commentary isn't the greatest thing since the Resident Evil commentary I'm going to be so sad.

Also, for the purposes of possible fic, the White Queen's real name is Mirana. I imagine typing out 'the White Queen' over and over might get awkward. :)
no subject
Me too. I thought that was great. And of course the White Queen had this woman eating out of her hand so I could see how true it was, and how irritating it must have been for the Red Queen.
Les!yay + Anne Hathaway = a very happy me!
That's math I can get behind!

Thank you! I'd actually been looking for her name because typing 'the queen' HAD been getting old and I couldn't find it anywhere.

Helena is my favorite actress of all time, I've seen nearly all her films haha. She is so versatile, and I think one of the best character actresses out there right now. I srsly want some Helena gifs. but I can't seem to find any.
And Olivia Wilde in Tron = UNF!

They were so gay for each other, I loved it. I doubt most people would have picked up on it, but femslashers have keener eyes than average folk!
She is so versatile, and I think one of the best character actresses out there right now.
For real. She is wonderful and captivating and amazing. And she has an amazing rack to boot! Mmm. I was uncomfortably attracted to her and her boobage in Sweeny Todd.
I srsly want some Helena gifs. but I can't seem to find any.
Internet, I am disappoint. *sigh* Your right those the only HBC .gifs I can think of are Bellatrix ones.
And Olivia Wilde in Tron = UNF!
UNFxinfinity plus one! I was hoping for a glance of her, and I wasn't disappointed. I'm going to have to bring a change of underwear to that movie.
