Review of The Runaways

So. Good.
First of all, Dakota Fanning is amazing. Always. In everything. I own Push because of her. Push! And she owns this movie. Yes, it is a little uncomfortable watching her strut around in like a corset and garter, and to see people taking pictures of her crotch, but Cherie was 15/16 when all this was going on so feeling uncomfortable is a good thing. But, back to Dakota. Stunning, magnificent, wonderful. The change you see Cherie go through is heart-breaking, but expertly portrayed.
Second of all, KStew. Now, ya'll know I've been tough on KStew since the whole Twilight thing started, and honestly, justifiable so because she sucks in those movies. This movie however reminded me why I used to like Kristen. It has to be said that she's no Dakota Fanning, she didn't blow me out of the water, but she was good here, and really quite charismatic and moving in some scenes. The scene where she freaks out in the recording studio was really good.
And now the thing everyone cares about ... The Joan/Cherie plot-line.
Now, it's a true story so we all know they don't end up together, but watching their friendship (with benefits) grow was one of the best parts of the movie. KStew and Dakota have great chemistry together! The first time Joan saw Cherie looking through the open door of the women's washroom in the club and their eyes make contact in the mirror before Cherie saunters by her = me hooked. The scenes with the two of them together on screen were always riveting to watch, and often tons of fun. Joan was such a protective big bear of Cherie, I loved it. Joan wins Ivy Tamwood Award for being a super-awesome sort of girlfriend to a troubled drama queen (though I have to say, Cherie is much, much, much more sympathetic than Rachel Morgan). The way Joan gazed at Cherie and always found a way to touch her/snuggle up with her = AWWWWWxinfinity plus one.
Seriously, I'm girl-crushing on KStew real hard right now, it's freaking me out.
Also, it has to be admitted that the kiss scene is hot. There's honestly not much to it because of the anti-groping laws KStew had to abide by (lol) but the way it's filmed is just *moans* I was beginning to think that KStew was incapable to displaying human emotions let alone anything that resembled romantic attraction, but I take it back. She was great. The scene where Cherie tries on the corset for the first time was also amazing. Joan looked like she wanted to eat her up with a spoon. Also, the scene in the plane washroom was way hotter than it had any right to be.
Michael Shannon was great as Kim Fowley. The music was awesome. And the parts with the formation of the band and their early career were just tons of fun to watch. Later shit got heavy, but it was the good, captivating type of heavy.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians fans, if you watch the movie tell me if you don't think Lita Ford is exactly what Clarisse would be like! Lita was kind of a dick, but she was hot and her Clarisse-ian attitude endeared her to me.
And now it's time for me to spend the afternoon listening to the soundtrack while marking *sob* God, I hate working.

Also, KStew and Dakota in interviews together = ADORABLE!! Like, KStew is normally incredibly awkward (as in, I couldn't watch interviews of her because of second hand embarrassment), but she's so relaxed when she's with Dakota that the two of them are just plain awesome :)

I'll be going in for Kristen, since she's my #1, but I like Dakota too, and DakotaStew? Equals hotness and awesomeness :)
I can't wait! Thanks for your review! And good luck with the marking :)

Also also, agree with Lita being Clarisse, and the actress who plays her screams lesbian to me (there was a video of her where she showed you her trailer, and when she showed us her TV she was all, "I've been so obsessed with watching season 2 of the L word, and I'm about to start season 3!"). Definitely Clarisse :P

I still can't believe that's actually Dakota singing in there - kind of mind blowing since it doesn't annoy the crap out of me
I couldn't stand dakota fanning when she was younger - don't ask why because I have no freaking clue why. I used to think it was because of Uptown girls, but I kinda like that movie now that I've seen it on tv...

Edit: You already have the soundtrack? I wanted it, but I thought it didn't come out until the 23rd.

Yeah, the whole Twilight thing kinda ruined her for me as well but then I remember Panic Room and the fact that (with the proper cast) she can act so she stopped being annoyed and starts to be kinda hot.
I don't think they will release this movie on my city, sadly. But I'm pretty sure I'll get my hands on it at some point. KStew is not really my fav person right now though but your review give me hope. Besides Dakota. She was like the only good thing on that Heroes movie.
