Water battered against the side of the boat sending clouds of mist into the air. Claire breathed in deeply and closed her eyes, relaxing as the vapor washed over her. The air was chilly and the spray stung her cheeks, but Claire didn’t mind. She had spent so long in a stupor that she was desperate to feel again. Even the cruel caress of wind, and cold water biting at her skin was treasured.

Water stretched as far as her eyes could see. The seas were as calm as they were endless, and as olive eyes swept over the deep blue expanse Claire felt a sort of peace settle over her.

The emotion was so unexpected, so foreign, that Claire’s heart skipped a beat. Her body jerked back in surprise, her eyes snapped open and her hand automatically rose to cover her heart, as if she hoped that she could force it into beating normally.

“It’s strange, isn’t it?”

A small smile touched Claire’s lips as Alice’s voice reached her. She hadn’t heard the brunette approach, but then again she never did. She had gotten used to being surprised when it came to Alice.

“What is?”

“Feeling secure,” Alice murmured, her lips curving up slightly as if she was amused though her tone and her eyes remained staid. “Civilization fades so quickly,” she sighed thoughtfully. “We’ve forgotten stability. Tranquility makes us nervous.”

Claire sorted indelicately and smiled ruefully.

“It is strange not to be constantly surrounded by death and decay,” the redhead sighed as she turned so that she was facing Alice. “I want this to last so badly, but everything in me rebels against it. Out there,” she motioned towards the seas and all that lay beyond it, “nothing will ever be the same again. I think I’m finally starting to understand that I’ll never get back to who I was before either.”

Alice walked forward until she was standing directly in front of Claire, her thoughtful cerulean eyes lancing Claire with their intensity as they gazed at each other.

“Even before the world went dark nobody ever stayed the same,” Alice whispered, looking down to take Claire’s hand into her own, smoothing her thumb over the sparsely freckled back of it soothingly.

“Still,” Claire sighed though she unconsciously leaned towards Alice, “I miss how at ease I used to be with the world. As awful as it sounds, I miss the, I don’t know, the arrogance I had before.”

“Of youth?”

Claire shook her head and then smiled humorlessly.

“Of species,” she sighed, rolling her eyes at herself before she looked over at Alice through her eyelashes.

Alice smiled at the response and then leaned into Claire, wrapping her arms around the redhead, holding her tightly as she buried in her noise in flaming hair that smelt of the sea and the future.

“It’s no fun being on the menu, is it?”

“On the menu?” Claire sighed. “We’re the whole menu.”

“Not now,” Alice said seriously, pressing her lips against the soft skin of Claire’s shoulder before she nuzzled her face into Claire’s neck. “Not out here.”

“The rest of the world---”

“Is too big and diseased for us to save,” Alice sighed as she squeezed Claire’s hands with her own. “Noah couldn’t stop the flood. All he could do was survive it to ensure that when the waters cleared and the earth was fit for man and beast once more, that there were men and beasts to populate it. We’re doing all we can by living.”

“That’s … an extremely depressing thought,” Claire sighed, her eyes fluttering closed as she leaned back into Alice’s lithe but strong body, comforted by the warmth and solidity of her.

“I know,” Alice murmured, tracing her fingers lightly up Claire’s arms. “But this life isn’t all bad, is it?” she continued kissing Claire’s neck softly.

Claire smiled widely as Alice explored the soft skin of her throat and then she turned in Alice’s arms so that they were facing each other.

“No,” Claire breathed out. “Re-animated corpses and all, there is still much beauty in the world.”

Claire stared at Alice unblinkingly as she spoke, her hands lifting to take the brunette’s face into her hands.

“And many pleasures to be had,” Alice drawled, her voice a dry rasp as Claire’s thumb caressed her plump bottom lip.

That tone in Alice’s voice had a way of undoing Claire and the redhead found herself leaning forward to capture Alice’s lips in a deep, lingering kiss that left her feeling unsteady on her feet.

“We should go inside,” Claire said feeling parts of her body begin to warm though it was still cool out on the deck.

Alice smiled and took Claire’s hand into hers. The world had been wild for long enough that having a bed was a novelty to those onboard the ocean-liner, and Alice and Claire had been making the most of the large bed in the Captain’s – now Alice’s – quarters since they had commandeered the ship.

Claire leaned into Alice’s body as they made their way through the narrow halls and Alice held her hand more tightly.

It was an imperfect world they lived in, but Claire knew that she was lucky to be part of it, and that she was even luckier to have a woman like Alice at her side, waiting out the flood with her until the waters cleared and they could walk together on the earth once more.

yeah this should be a deleted scene for the movie cause any one who saw the movie would be blind if didnt think this story could happen for reals cause Alice+Claire=femslash win and I so cant wait for Jill in the next movie I missed that sexy bitch in action

ESPECIALLY after they slaughter the huuuge executioner guy. That was so femslashy that I almost rolled out of my seat and lost my 3D glasses in the process!

and dont forget the scene when they where on the plane? and when Alice knocked out Claire the way she lookd at the red device ( forget the name I so have to play RE 5 again lol) she nearly made that tank top a deep V.

When those scenes happened I nearly lost my shit and I couldnt do that next to my brother while we talked and made jokes through out the movie.

And seeing Jill at the end in the tight o-so-sinfuly-tight outfit! I almost made me lose my panites.

I totally noticed when Alice did that too. Its like she was already so comfortable with Claire’s body. I went to see it with my brother too but I’m at the point where it was so hot that I didn’t even care what I said =]

I’m glad you mentioned that! I was wondering if it was Jill. It doesn’t look like the movie version of her so I wasn’t 100%. But oh YES, a love triangle!

well in the game version in the 5th game she was wearing someing like it and had long blonde hair

Alice+Claire were a total femslash explosion. There were so many little things that screamed 'couple' and 'totally in love'. Like how Claire immediately went to Alice's side after Chris tried to approach her, and Alice stood protectively with her body sort of shielding Claire from him.

I really hope Jill gets some play next movie. I was ridiculously thrilled to see her at the end. I was getting worried that rumors of her return were exaggerated at the end of the movie.

omg it was so weird when the credits came up I wasnt facing the screen cause duh my bro and I was still talking lol but said 'woah what the fuck', and I said 'what?' but after I said that they showed the Jill scene, so I'm guessing he said that cause her name was in the credits.

so couply I kno right? and Alice's flashback of Claire, 'I hope Claire and others made it' cause of course she was thinking of Claire more lol.

omg that scene when Chris came up to them was pure femslash gold and the whole bending his arm with her still being sexy was a plus.

and after the the fight with that 'big tall fucker' was just femslash heaven for me, cause when I saw the trailer and with the scene of them huging under a flying hammer like thing I was Squealing for days after that lol but watching the full scene had me pass out from teh sure greatness of it all.

oh did anyone else notice how th English actress was like goo goo eyes on Alice or was it all in my femslashly head?

You did post something! Yay! I really very much love your Resident Evil/ Alice/Claire stories but I was momentarily confused on which position they were both in. I imagined Alice standing behind Claire acting as the “big spoon” but then there were points when they were facing each other. Maybe it was just me misreading everything… or just getting too lost in the hotness that is Alice/Claire. Ugh, loved it! I may sound like an unappreciative broken record but, more? *gives you candy*

They were both. Alice was holding Claire from behind for most of it, but then there was this little, easily missed line: Claire smiled widely as Alice explored the soft skin of her throat and then she turned in Alice’s arms so that they were facing each other.

Claire, just like the rest of us, couldn't resist staring at Alice's beautiful face, lol.

The part in the movie where Alice drags Claire up on deck to watch Wesker explode was so adorable and Claire's sheer excitement at it all was great. It was nice to have a movie where they weren't being heavy handed with the Alice/Carlos or Alice/Matt because honestly, Milla always has more chemistry with the girls

I also loved their awkwardly scripted little chat in the plane because you could see how much Alice wanted her to remember their past relationship.

I also really swooned when Alice snuggled up to Claire and covered her hand with own when Claire had Chris in a chokehold. There was a real unconscious intimacy to too it, and the fact that Claire was so comfortable with Alice pressed right up against her was great.

Claire's irritation with Luther horning in on her territory was also pretty great.

They were just pretty perfect in this movie. There seriously better be another one because I need more of these two kicking ass and gaying it up. Especially because you know that Claire and Jill will end up having a pissing contest over Alice.

Totally. So dreamy. I also got the sense that she believed him, and felt badly for him (knowing herself what it was like to have Claire hostile with her because she didn't remember her), but Claire was her first concern and top priority. If she had to choice between who to side with, it was Claire no contest.

And OT3 with them would be hot, hot, hot. But like you said, I don't think it would really work because of their territorial personalities. Also, on-screen it's like Claire/Alice, Jill/Alice, but with Claire/Jill having no interaction it'll focus all of their emotion on Alice because she's the one they have the history/connection with.

OT3 like Richard/Cara/Kahlan work because all three of them have significant relationships to each other and emotional bonds with each other.

Alice/Claire/Jill would be hot though.

lol, I know right! Zombies have very little to do with why I love these movies so much. Milla Jovovich, Ali Larter, Michelle Rodriguez, and Sienna Guillory kicking ass, in addition to sizzling femslash in each movie has everything to do with why I love this series so much.

And I too hope they keep making these movies as long as Milla (and Ali and Sienna) can kick-ass.

I can't believe there isn't a ton of fic out there for these two because Afterlife is so super gay that Alice/Claire is practically canon. My gf and I were chortling all the way through at the blatant femslashiness.

Resident Evil never does disappoint in the femslash department, does it? At least not in the movies. I've always been more of an Alice/Jill shipper myself, but damn if Afterlife didn't make me ship Alice/Claire too! There was so much subtext in that movie that it officially ceased to be subtext at all. It's canon, people. CANON.

Random question: You never posted your thoughts on the second half of the Merlin premier. I loved the follow-up story you wrote (and pretty much treat it as a deleted scene). I spent the entire episode entertaining the utterly hopeless notion that Camelot would actually fall to Morgause. I was truly disappointed to see the "good guys" triumph. Stupid Merlin. I was just wondering what your overall thoughts were.
