I just watched this movie ...
This is what it's about: On the surface, Saya is a stunning 16-year-old, but that youthful exterior hides the tormented soul of a 400-year-old “halfling.” Born to a human father and a vampire mother, she has for centuries been a loner obsessed with using her samurai skills to rid the world of vampires, all the while knowing that she herself can survive only on blood like those she hunts. When she is sent onto an American military base in Tokyo by the clandestine organization she works for, Saya immediately senses that this may be her opportunity to finally destroy Onigen, the evil patriarch of all vampires. Using her superhman strength and her sword, she begins to rid the base of its evil infestation in a series of spectacular and elaborate showdowns. However, it is not until she forms her first human friendship in centuries with the young daughter of the base’s general that Saya learns of her greatest power over Onigen may well be her ability for human connection…
This move was basically made for me. It's got everything that I love in it: vampires, lesbian subtext, cool fight scenes, lesbian subtext, vampires, swords, cool (if sometimes a little over done) action sequences, hotass female villians, lesbian subtext, a dreamy protector in the vein of Ivy Tamwood, spunky heroines, people flying from trees, blood sharing ... you know, all that good stuff.
The movies not brilliant, but I found it entertaining, and I really liked the relationship between Saya and Alice (Alice is like totes the new go-to name for hot chicks isn't it?) If you liked the things I listed above, then you'll probably at least reasonably enjoy this movie.

Also, be warned, there are no subtitles for the flashback scenes. Most of the movie is in English though, so you wont' miss too much, and I was able to tell what was happening in the flashbacks even without subtitles.

Yeah, in the showdown between Saya and Onigen, I was like "What? Whaa ... what?" and then I just decided to look at the pretty and imagined my own generic threats being exchanged, lol.
Allison Miller (Alice) was actually a lot better in this than I expected. That's probably because I really dislike Michelle on "Kings" though. Those, in her defense, she's surrounded by brilliant actors on Kings (Susanna Thompson, Ian McShane, etc.) whereas in this movie ... uh, not so much.

Ok, now that I completely lowered my expectations I think I can watch it.

A) I want to teach the army girl how to actually do CPR. The idea is to push air into the target's lungs and pump her heart so the oxygenated blood circulates. You're supposed to press your lips against hers.
B) I learry roved the virrain. She was gleat. Visuarry, aurally and dlamatulgicarry. I learry learry roved hel. Like woaah.
C) Just small little changes here and there, and it would've been this tragically beautiful romance. Well it was, but a less subtle one instead. It was basically doing the entirely traditional conflicted brooding hero rescuing this beautiful girl and getting her mixed up in his problems and them getting hopelessly intertwined, falling for each other... except it was two girls. It was almost by the book storytelling. I'm disappointed at the producers, directors and whatever for not going there all the way. Perhaps it would've sold less, I dunno. It's still somewhat obvious what they were doing.

Word. I was all like, "Yes! CPR!p0rn!" and then Alice totes didn't even try to give her mouth to mouth. I was like "The fuck!?!?" But I think Alice cut her hand then and fed Saya her blood and I was like, "Yes! Blood!p0rn" and forgot that I was mad about the lack of mouth to mouth.

This! I mean from Alice and Saya exchanging glances in the classroom when the mean girls were being mean, to Saya constantly saving Alice's life (and holding her hand while doing it), to Alice giving Saya the "never doubt you are human" pep talks, it was like this epic love story being built up. In my imaginary sequel, Saya finds her way back and she and Alice totes find each other again and admit their love for each other now that Saya is free of her blood feud.

i like how the villainess is wearing white.
Yeah, I loved that she was in white throughout as well. In the showdown between her and Saya, it's really visually striking that she's all dressed in flowing white like an angel, and Saya is all dark and brooding.

ouch *winces at cut* that has gotta hurt. ok, Alice, it would help to get the blood in Saya if you open her mouth first. but good job on the blood sharing. i must say i approve of Alice's feistyness and her faith in Saya.
