OMG!  A sequel that's as good as the orginal!

Title:  The Descent Part 2, 2010
Directed by: Jon Harris
Written by:  J. Blakeson and James McCarthy
Starring: Shauna MacDonald, Natalie Jackson Mendoza, Krysten Cummings, Douglas Hodge, Anna Skellern
Rating: R for strong bloody horror violence, grisly images, terror and language.
Genre: Horror|Adventure|Thriller
Runtime: 94 min.
Synopsis: Distraught, confused, and half-wild with fear, Sarah Carter emerges alone from the Appalachian cave system where she encountered unspeakable terrors. Unable to plausibly explain to the authorities what happened - or why she's covered in her friends' blood - Sarah is forced back to the subterranean depths to help locate her five missing companions.
Notes:  The Descent Part 2 is a really frakking good movie.  I am shocked, but oh so pleased.  I honestly thought that the movie was going to be terrible due to the fact that the first one didn't really seem to leave room for a second, and that a new director was coming on board, but this movie was very, very, very true to the original.  And what is truly remarkable about it is that it actually fits perfectly with the events of the first film.

I don't want to say anything more about it now and risk spoiling anyone.  Just watch and then comment about the awesome!

Enjoy!

Jennifer's Body was totes worth the wait!

The movie is legit good.  Aside from being a Megan Fox fan!girl, and being thrilled by the fact that Megan can act, the movie is just a blast!

And ... and .... and ... Megan Fox can act!  I'm so proud of my, bb.  She creeped me out (Holy fuck, who knew eating a chicken from the fridge could be so freaky!), made me laugh out loud (a lot), gave me a wettie, and managed to break my heart (depressed!Jennifer made me want to hug her with the same powerful intensity that sad!Ivy makes me want to hug her).

Megan stole the show for me.  Amanda was awesome (as she always is), but the movie was the Megan Show for me.  She was luminous on screen, she perfected bratty charm, and she fucking killed the one liners (even ones that probably shouldn't have really worked like the, 'Do you have a tampon?' bit).  Every time Jennifer was on screen it was impossible to look away from her.

And now to talk about what everyone on my f-list is really interested in, lol.  The Needy/Jennifer make-out scene is one of the hottest I can recall seeing.  I don't know if it was how intimately the scene was framed with the close-ups on their lips, or if it was the way Needy collapsed on top of Jennifer so eagerly when she realized that she had been given an invitation or what, but that scene = JIMP.  Like, major JIMP-age.

Needy/Jennifer is totally my new ship of pain.  They were so beautiful together and so tragic.  DAMN YOU ADAM BRODY! (AND YOUR AWESOME HAIR AND GUY-LINER).

I'm gonna stop talking now because anything else would just be random sounds of happiness.  My love for this movie is still to fresh to really be coherent right now.

This is what it's about:  On the surface, Saya is a stunning 16-year-old, but that youthful exterior hides the tormented soul of a 400-year-old “halfling.” Born to a human father and a vampire mother, she has for centuries been a loner obsessed with using her samurai skills to rid the world of vampires, all the while knowing that she herself can survive only on blood like those she hunts. When she is sent onto an American military base in Tokyo by the clandestine organization she works for, Saya immediately senses that this may be her opportunity to finally destroy Onigen, the evil patriarch of all vampires. Using her superhman strength and her sword, she begins to rid the base of its evil infestation in a series of spectacular and elaborate showdowns. However, it is not until she forms her first human friendship in centuries with the young daughter of the base’s general that Saya learns of her greatest power over Onigen may well be her ability for human connection…

No Lisa Ray this time, but I still come bearing gifts :D

srs bsns:  Daphne, a drama staring Geraldine Somerville (Gosford Park, Harry Potter), Elizabeth McGovern (Freezing), and Janet McTeer (Five Days, Tumbleweeds) brings the secret love life of this renowned storyteller to the small screen. Based on the acclaimed biography by Margaret Forster, Daphne charts the story of du Maurier's unrequited passion and shows how Daphne's inner struggles with her sexuality informed the writing of her compelling stories. The 90-minute drama focuses on the most emotionally fraught yet creatively fertile period of the author's life – the years between the Rebecca trial and the writing of her short story The Birds.

Deep Thoughts by Janine:  Movie good.  Captivating.  Watch.  Elizabeth McGovern UNF!

Lisa Ray,  Sheetal Sheth I bow down to you (and more importantly, your incredible hotness, and amazingly hot gay sexin')

Now that I've dazzled you all with my wit ... onto complaining about Jumper.

1.  Rachel Bilson used to be attractive I think.  She's not anymore.  Every time she was on screen I kept thinking that she looked like - and believe me I know how cruel this will sound but it's honestly what I was thinking - that she looked like the half-human, half-alien that was created from Ripley's DNA in Alien Resurrection.  True story.  Psst, hey Rachel ... EAT SOMETHING!

2.  Samuel L. Jackson is always watchable.  Seriously, he still managed to be good even in this pile of poo.

3.  Jamie Bell saved this thing for me.  I was nearly nodding off to sleep until he showed up.  I won't say I wish he was the main character, because the main character sucked balls, but thank you Jamie Bell for not sucking and for proving that people under the age of 30 can actually act.

4.  The main character in this movie sucked balls.  Seriously, David was a huge douchebag.  From about ten minutes in until the end I hated him.  Hayden Christensen is pretty, but looking at him in his very nice jackets (and they were very nice) was not enough to save the movie.  When the protagonist is a selfish prick it's really hard to root for them (or to want a sequel).

5.  This movie needed more Diane Lane.  I almost want a sequel because I think that it would involve Diane Lane (and likely Kristen Stewart) hunting down Hayden's ass and trying to killinate him, which sounds like fun.  But the sequel probably still wouldn't have enough Diane Lane, so let's just forget about the whole thing.

6.  I really liked the idea of the movie, it's just too bad that it was so relentlessly average.  Cool special effects and some funny lines from Griffin (Jamie Bell) but other than that it was like straight to DVD plotting and characterization ... ha, oh silly me, there was no characterization, what was I thinking.

In conclusion the best part of the movie was the Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull trailer (and I missed half of it).  The half of it I saw had Cate Blanchett in it looking totally hot though, and that's good enough for me!

Oh, and Lena Headey.

You know what's better than a hooker with a heart of gold? Two hookers with hearts of gold, who are in love with each other!

Other things I've learned from The Dead Girl...

1. If an old lady is throwing clothes into a fire, you should NOT yell "Don't take off anything more!" because she will! And you definitely shouldn't mutter, "No, no, please, no more!" because then there will be boobs and you and your friend will look at each other uncomfortably and then ignore what just happened on screen by eating a spring roll.

2. You can know exactly what a character is going to be like by the actor playing the role. Toni Collette played a homely woman with issues. Giovonni Ribisi played an awkward, creepy character with social interaction issues. Rose Byrne played a serious girl who was often weepy and rarely smiled ... and was a doctor. Brittany Murphy played a drugged up crack ho. Marcia Gay Harden played a put upon woman with a southern accent. Mary Steenburgen was shrill. Piper Laurie played a crazy, mean old lady. And Kerry Washington played a crack ho ... um, okay that one was against typecasting. Usually Kerry Washington plays smartly dressed executives, smartly dressed blind women, or streetwise mothers.

3. Brittany Murphy can act. Trust me I was as shocked as anyone else. She literally had me in tears at the end. Brittany Murphy! I can't wait until dogs start walking people, and fish build reverse boats and hunt us for sport.

Also, despite this post, The Dead Girl was a really good movie that I would totally recommend. And the crack ho's really are in love.
