What a waste of celuloid that film turned out to be. Wooden doesn't begin to describe most of the actors and what was wrong with their voices? Were they meant to have some kind of accent? Very odd. Not enough Rayne/Katarin - they should have at least tried to add some smouldering, hate/lust scenes in there, instead of just that one sword practice and underwater fight - and too much gushing from nowhere blood.
Or, in other words, you were totally right
Now I have the strange urge to re-write the entire film with added subtext.
