Neville! Being authoritative and manly! *loves* I would have loved to get Luna in there as well, but there was just no room for her AND Andromeda's misery, lol. Andromeda's misery took up a space roughly the size of Holland!
it's like you said, no matter how much you know where the story is gonna head to, you can't help but root for them.
As I was writing it, I wanted so badly for them to find a way, for Bella to be redeemed AND live, and for them to like ride off into the sunset together because I love Androtrix THAT much, but it just couldn't happen. The Ship Of Pain, will only end in heartache.
but the clincher is that she reconnects w/ the only family that she has left and in that one moment, toujours pur is redefined.
I'm happy that the scene with Narcissa at the end felt right. I was struggling with how to end it, and then I was like "Narcissa!". And I had to rework the last little section a buttload of times until it felt right. But that reconnection was exactly what I was going for. A kind of symmetry where even though Andromeda's lost so much, she gets something back that makes the loses more bearable. She's such a good person that I couldn't stand the misery being heaped on her (especially since she doesn't even get a mention in the epilogue as being the one that took care of Teddy, it was all about 'oh, he practically lives at the Potter's' with no love for Grandma!)
I must say, I'm glad to have this one done though, it was depressing me. I've almost finished a FUN Black sisters on vacation from Hogwarts fic to cheer me up, lol
