but the scene at the beginning with Tonu and Giavanni really freaked me out so we ended up turning it off.
Yeah, I'll admit I didn't love that section and if the whole movie had been those characters I don't think I would have enjoyed it at all. That sequence was really weird and creepy, and we were talking throughout most of it because we didn't like it much.
The movie picked up with the second set of characters though in "The Sister" section, and the third section "The Wife" was good but disturbing though no where near as bad as the first section, and the fourth section "The Mother" and and the fifth "The Dead Girl" totally broke my heart. Section, 2, 4 and 5 really made the movie for me.
But, yeah I can totally see how the Collette/Ribisi stuff would've put you off. I think it was a terrible way to start off the movie, but the rest of it was quite good.
