Alice (and Jasper and sometimes the other Cullens) are pretty much the only thing I can stand about the whole series. And when Bella isn't being made into a mindless zombie in the presence of Edward, she can be tolerable. And they come off really, really gay for each other.
There's a scene (that I think is in New Moon) where Bella's like 'if Edward won't change me, I'll just have Alice do it'. Damn, girl, isn't that process supposed to be kind of intimate?
And yes, I'm working on the fic. It's kind of an odd plot device, but I think it works, heh.
