I thought Bella needed to realize that she's no longer in love with Edward since the middle of the series.
Yeah, I think it's painfully obvious to everyone who's not Bella that she hasn't been in love with him since he came back from Italy. Once she and Alice had that time alone together, and became intimate Edward never stood a chance.
