I don't know, I'm shipping them based on the fact that in the flashback in ep.2 when Claire is introduced to Boyd she's really very snippy, and Adelle is clearly displeased with her attitude, but she just bites her tongue. To me, that is proof that she LOVES her, lol.
Girl, the fact that they look at each other for more than two seconds is proof that they are secretly doing it on Adelle's desk every Tuesday morning in my book. *eyes glazed over* Yum.

In the script for the unaired pilot this issue is addressed, with Topher saying that "The Phantom" (his oh so charming nickname for Claire) is creepy because she doesn't get the scars taken care of. And Boyd (who I want to hug endless because he looks like a younger version of my Dad) says that Claire keeps the scars because she doesn't want to forget what happened.
So, I'm guessing it's some guilt/shame/penance type mental thingie that makes her keep them.
Really? I didn't know that. I gotta get my hands on this pilot. Topher actually calls Claire "The Phantom"? That's so... predictable. And geeky. And now I'm so having visions of Claire looking all dashing in a cape and mask. Oh well.
