yeah but why do they bother to get them to sign? It has to be so that if they are discovered it's all above board...

Yeah that's a good point. Though what they are doing there has to be seriously illegal and contracts might not help much. Then again, the law is always years behind technology, so there's probably legal loopholes that they could hide behind when first discovered. The contracts, might just make the "volunteers" feel better though. Like, signing a legal document makes them feel better about everything, like they are protected in a way, even though the contract really means nothing.

I mean... why would you keep using someone who'd was beginning to loose that youthful vigor if you can get a new one?

I don't think that an Active would necessarily be useless past the age of 30. I mean, they serve all sorts of clients and people have different preferences. Quite frankly, I'd sleep with Olivia Williams any day of the week over someone my age like Scarlett Johannson. But, I could totally see the wear and tear of missions taking it's toll on their bodies, though I think that dangerous missions are the supposed to be the exception (though it won't end up being that way on the show because we wouldn't have episode then, lol).

I mean the longest seems to have taken a 3-4 days so far. I know this is in part due to the nature of the show. But with that technology if you could permanently imprint someone with another personality why arent they producing perfect wives instead of the perfect weekend fling?

That's a really good point. Actually, I remember in the unaired pilot script that there was a line about Echo being on a mission for 3 days straight and Claire was really worried about her being out there for so long. So that gives a lot of credence to the idea that they can only hold the personalities for a while. Cause, yeah, the perfect spouse would be alot more appealing (And their clients are rich so I'm sure they'd be willing to pay the $10 million or whatever for one).

Therefore if they want to leave permanent imprints on the dolls after they're no longer of use... it would be based upon who they used to be.

Yeah, they kind of like tweak their memories, maybe make some subconsious 'suggestions' to make sure that they don't 'want' to do anything that could hurt the company and then put them to use in non-Doll roles.

Honestly, I wonder if they even know what they're going to do with the Dolls. The technology seems pretty new, and if Alpha really was the first that means that they could only have been doing this for a few years.
