He's just way too young to have invented the thing... since it's so complex so... who did and where are they.
I don't think he's supposed to have invented the technology, he's just good at using it. He's right in that what he does is kind of an art, making new people on a daily basis. I could see that taking a genius level IQ. Topher is probably one of the most valuable assets at the Dollhouse.
since it's so complex so... who did and where are they. My idea was that maybe it was an old flame of Adelle's... she recognises the potential, neatly eliminates him from the picture by wiping his brain
Deliciously evil. We know that Adelle answers to bosses though, a board of directors or something so she can't be the one who created the Dollhouse. She's like a CEO but not the owner of the company.
One thing I've been wondering is if there are other Dollhouses in major cities across the world. If it really is such a lucrative business and you have the technology, why limit it to Los Angeles? There could be Dollhouse Tokyo Drift, and Dollhouse London, and Dollhouse Paris.
So maybe the other dolls thought paths had already hardened into certain tracks so that they cannot hold certain imprints for long, but hers weren't given any direction yet so she can easily do anything. or something.
I don't know, I'd say that Echo is the one with the hardened thought paths since she seems to resist her programming more than the others. Part of this might be that Eliza has really strong physical mannerisms to there always seems to be a little Eliza in every personality, but Sierra seems to transform more completely than Echo.
I like the idea that their base personalities are still in play though. That even though you erase their minds, there is something instead of them that is always them (a soul?) that can reassert itself over the programming. The stronger the original personality, the more aggressive the Doll fights to regain themselves. It makes them excellent field agents, but also make them burn out/become a threat sooner. Like Claire said, you don't want to be special in the Dollhouse. Good enough, is what you want to aim for.
I write too much for one post and do I cut it down... oh no... I just make two. I ramble...
No worries, I'm a rambler too! I like rambling with another rambler. I'm getting obsessive about this show too, and other people get bored if you go on about it for too long, so this is great!
