It's nice to see a scenario where it's the geeky one getting the girl. Team Nerd forever!
While I do appreciate this notion, I don't think that the nerd/jock dynamic is at work here. Spock dominated Kirk both physically and mentally. Took him to town, bought him breakfast and made him his bitch. I'd say that Kirk was the nerd because of how he "defeated" Spock. Through cleverness instead of brute force (I believe there's such a thing as intellectual brute force). Spock's emotions were his undoing. Thus, he was the jock in this case. Sure, Kirk was the brash adventurer and Spock the introverted scientist, I give you that. But you have to realize who is dominant and who is not. Also one thing that the stereotype includes is arrogance, I didn't see that in Kirk.
I believe Uhura was attracted to Spock's status. Very traditional. Nothing to see here.
All in all, it was a fun reversal of roles and gives me a lot of brain-food.
