The thing is that nobody in the gen. pop. really looks for femslash. I've never really heard people bring up how gay Alice and Bella act, outside of femslashers like us. So I'm hoping that because the gay seems to be under so many people's radars (how this can be I don't know, since like you said it's so obvious that it's practically canon) that they won't have done anything to tune it down. Ashley Greene (if the 1st movie is any indication), doesn't understand the difference between platonic affection and smoldering lust, so hopefully in her attempt to convey "friendship" she'll make Alice super gay for Bella like she did in the first movie.

If anything, their interaction in the trailer is even gayer than that scene was in the book. I swear that Alice didn't actually lead Bella down any stairs by the hand (I'm never picking up that book again, so I can't check and see). But if they play up the friendship in the movie (like the insinuation that Alice helped Bella get dressed for her party) then the movie could be even gayer than the book. The only downside is that KStew is incapable of acting, so Ashley will have to bring the gay almost entirely by herself.
