They are a couple, the show just isn't revealing it yet. It's like when you work with people and you totally know they're dating but they won't come out and admit. That's this show with Jane and Maura. WE'RE ONTO YOU GIRLS!
And there is no earthly reason that they should have been hanging out in Jane's bedroom, other than to settle down for the night. Also, I loved Maura's "It's just me" to Jo Friday in the morning. She could as well have said, "Jo, you see me every morning when we get up. Why are you acting so crazy today?"
I honestly don't know if it can get any more gay without having them make-out in a bubble bath together. But I'm looking forward to them trying to gay it up even more
