That H.G. Wells spin-off cannot come fast enough for me.  Jaime Murray is glorious.  Seeing her as 19th Century Helena, naughty, glowing, in her element, charming and good with just a hint of danger was ... aces!. ACES! 

Things H.G. Wells has done:

1.  H.G. Wells has single-handedly given me a necklace clutching fetish!

2.  H.G. Wells' sleuthing outfit has single-handedly given me a fetish for female sleuthing outfits.  Gotta love that vest.  Hey, hey, H.G., can I Ophelia tetons?

3.  H.G. Wells' bun-of-justice has given my shivers.  I love her long, luxurious, flowing locks of raven hair, but the bun-of-justice was very nice, very nice indeed.

Pete: So, you built a rocket ... in 1892 ...
Helena: You yourself have used my time machine, but a tube that shoots straight up into the air strains credulity?

4. H.G. Wells has proven that it is possible to make the word 'credulity' sexy. 

Random Observations

I heart Claudia for stanning so hard for H.G.  It was nice having H.G. around, Claudia.  It really was.

Bronzed Helena was fucking terrifying!  I hope I never have to see that again.  Not only is it the usual amount of awful just thinking about being bronzed for that long, but the visual was also fucking terrifying!

As much as I love H.G., Pete riffing on her produced some of his best material.  Those two are fun when they're cat-fighting.

Pete: Whoa, check it out.  Astounding Tales. I didn't take Jack as an Astounding Tales kind of guy...
H.G.:  One of my short-stories is in there.  Imagine the royalties.
Pete: Yes, just what the world needs.  A rich homicidal maniac.  You could buy yourself a secret island liar and hire somebody to twirl your mustache.
Ouch.  But LOL

Kudos to Jaime for even managing to sneak a little girl-girl action into the scenes in the 1890s.  When Helena was all, "actually he gets them from me" to the girl asking where her brother gets his ideas from, Helena was totally playing with the woman's necklace/lace bow thingie.  What a flirty McFlirtster she is!

I never need to see Jack and Rebecca again.  Damn, show.  They're awful.  The episode about them was only a hit because it was Joanne and Eddie dressed up like they were from the 50s and it was about a cool freakin time-machine!  Never show these two again.  Awful.

The scene that followed continued on from the sneak peek was nice for Pete/Myka interaction, and Myka just turning H.G. off (while rude) was a fun visual ... but, I still like my version better.

Pete: What?  I didn't want to waste any.
LOL!  Oh, Myka.  The indignant tone of voice and prolonged stare were mint.  Oh, Joanne, never change.

"I should never have let that glint of madness in your eyes attract me.  It always becomes a lovers least attractive trait." BWAH FOREVER! 

I love you writers.  I'm sure Myka was thinking the same thing as she watched the Regents drag you away in cuffs, H.G. ... only she was less smiley and giggly about it.  I liked how the Helena/Crowley romance sort of mirrored by Helena/Myka romance what with the hint of madness, deception, trying to destroy a massive amount of people thing ... only Helena/Myka is what it looks like with real feelings.  Instead of karate chops, zingers and rocket launches, Myka and Helena were all tentative, awkward longing, regret, sadness, intimacy and hope for future reconciliation.



The only thing that matters Myka and H.G.



These two.  I can't even.

I love that within 10 seconds of materializing H.G. was hitting on Myka and Myka was looking like she wanted it real bad.  "You're right, Myka.  I do know what this is," cause she knows you so well, right Helena?  And by knows you well, I mean used to go down on you regularly *wink wink*.

"I'm quite glad to see you here, Myka."  Heh.  I bet you are H.G, why don't you just slide on closer! 

I love how Myka looked intrigued by Helena sliding closer and a bit mortified, like, "OMG, don't tell them I've been having secret live changing meetings with your consciousness.  This is like when you told them I was a biter all over again.  Boundaries, Helena.  There is such a thing as sharing too much!"

H.G.: Daniel.  I am responsible.  But please, you have to listen to me.  We've all lost loved ones unfairly.  I lost someone I loved too.  For me it was my daughter.  I was so angry and in such pain, I almost hurt a great many people.  I didn't care.  Like you.  But it won't make you feel any better, and it doesn't break our loved ones back.

Unbreak my heart, Jaime!  So good, she's so good.  Yes Myka, Helena is subtextually talking to you, so pay attention okay?!

The fine edge that Myka was walking for the majority of the episode "trying to be there for Pete" while also "trying to support Helena without giving Helena the impression that things are magically better with them".  She was so quiet and subdued during the scenes with Pete and Helena. It was tearing her apart!

*stand up and applauds Jaime and Joanne* cause those ladies worked that last scene with Myka and Helena, it was like they were going out to sea and wouldn't see a woman let alone touch one for months.  They gave that scene all they had, they hit their marks hard, they didn't let up, and the audience felt the sensual burn.

HG:  You should feel quite proud right now.
Myka: Why's that.
HG: Three teams of agents over more than a century have dedicated themselves to this case, but you and Pete are the ones who succeeded.
Myka:  With your help.
HG: We did make a good team, didn't we?
Myka: We did. And then you ... I just wish you would have realized that sooner.
*Jaime does that open mouth silent gasp thing that sounds stupid when described but is ridiculously sexy and woobiful in action*
HG: So do I.

That wasn't even subtextual. That was a straight up ex-girlfriends chat.  Nobody was frontin' with any of that.  Everything!  Just everything about this!  So intense and ... and yearning (everything surround this line, "We did.  And then you ... I just wish you would have realized that sooner" was perfection).

But Mostly Helena's face.  Sometimes Myka's face, but mostly Helena's face.  The sad music of love gone wrong (or is it ... maybe just astray?) made me feel like I was watching the CW, but still that the type of music they play for scenes that are clearly romantic in nature.  But still ... mostly Helena's face! 

I know that in part this episode was about people coming to understandings in regards to Helena:  Artie and Claudia (mostly Claudia) missing H.G. but accepting the loss of her as a consequence of her actions.  Pete coming to a detente/understanding with H.G, and Pete and Myka finally talking through his issues with her leaving at the end of season 2.  And of course, Myka forgiving Helena but not forgetting, and Helena getting forgiveness but not magically being freed of from facing the consequences of her actions.  I get it, I do.  Myka needed to forgive herself and start to move on. 

BUT ... but ... Jaime was working the wooby so hard in that scene.  She looked so scared before she went back into that magic holo-ball and Myka just didn't seem torn enough.  I legit couldn't believe she was laughing 5 seconds after that.  If Helena hadn't looked so broken, maybe I could buy it, but Jaime was hitting the wobby button like a pro and Myka's reaction seemed almost cold.  Damn, son.  When Myka Berin freezes you out it don't matter if you're going back to a disembodied state of limbo, Pete's got hats to wear and she's got laughing to do!

But other than that hiccup, that last scene between them was kind of perfect.

I know Helena is going to show up again because of the Joanne's ass-Jaime's head pic, but I miss Helena already!  I want to believe we're in for a few more Helena episodes, but I'm so scared we won't see her again for a while.  Come back, Helena.  We want you to tell us stories about your fabulous adventures in sleuthing and pyrotechnics!  We do not forsake you, so come back to us!

It was a brilliant episode, but I want Jaime back and I want maintext relationship-like things for HG and Myka and I kind of want a scene with Jinks where he can show Myka that HG isn't lying and that she loves her and her FEELINGS.

I know, right. And I was so happy because I wanted to SEE Myka's reaction to everything. I was like 'Show my of Myka's reactions' even though they showed a ton of them, because Myka/HG is my jam.

And that last scene ... I can't even! It's like the Warehouse 13 writers are ALL Myka/HG shippers.

I know, right! That last scene was intense. The J's worked it so well, and the writing gave them so much to work with. I really hope we get to see more of these two before the last episode of the season (2 and a 1/3rd Helena eps. is not enough to sustain me!)

I know. This was the only real misstep in the whole episode for me. I hate the Jack and Rebecca actors, but there's nothing that could have been done about that since they were cast last season. Myka's reaction after H.G. went back into the holo-ball was just not in character at all (not even within the episode chronology). Even if she put on a brave face ("Let's go save the world, Lattimer"), she should have pensively looked back to the last place she saw H.G. or something. Her flippancy was really jarring (and not at all Myka).

I want Jaime back and I want maintext relationship-like things for HG and Myka

This. As much as I'm loving them right now, if there is never a kiss between these two, I'm going to feel so cheated. The worst part is that I'm pretty sure that will never happen, so I'm just setting myself up for disappointment. But you watch that last scene and how can you not hope?

Jinks where he can show Myka that HG isn't lying and that she loves her and her FEELINGS.

I get why Jinks wasn't there this episode, but I too would love a moment where after watching them interact, he has a quiet moment with Myka where he's like, "She really means it, you know. When she says she cares about you. I don't know what happened between you, not really, and I won't mention it again after this, but she's not lying. It's up to you what to do, but you should know she's not lying."

All the Myka/Helena interactions, especially the ones w/out words (the eye contact, dear lord) just struck something in my heart that had me wanting nothing more than for them to somehow miraculously end up together forever in a happy little home somewhere kicking booty while finding and kicking artifact ass.

If there isn't more Helena in this season then I will be thoroughly disappointed. I know there's going to be at least one more episode, but would it be too much to ask for more? Preferably like...all of them?

Also, Myka having Helena's sphere thingy. She has Helena in the palm of her hand, literally and figuratively.

Seriously, if that wasn't a pilot test, I don't know what was. And the fifteen minutes was MOUNTAINS better than the five minutes I saw of the godawful Poe, which could also be described as '101 ways to make Tabrett Bethell unsexy'! HG was like a combination of Captain Jack, Doctor Who and Sherlock Holmes all rolled into one sexy vest wearing package!

Bronzed Helena was fucking terrifying!

We know Helena volunteered to be bronzed but they keep referring to her doing 'something terrible' both by Artie and now boring 1962 Agents. I wish TPTB would either reveal it or make up their minds as to whether Helena was 'evil' before she was bronzed or it was the bronzing that made her 'evil'.

I almost don't want to know when she's coming back because, honestly, last week's episode totally felt like filler and I'm not sure I can handle the week's in between knowing when HG returns!!

My two observations....

I never need to see Jack and Rebecca again.

I really, really think their only purpose, besides tying in with the kid who grew up to be nutballs and the HG apology, was so they could juxtapose that last "Que sera." scene between two lovers only to be followed by....HG & MYKA! Or, at least, that's what I thought.

And I thought the whole goodbye/hat/laugh scene was maybe Pete saw/knew/felt Myka was gonna be down/depressed/withdrawing after saying goodbye, and did what Pete does best, make a joke/make her smile to lighten the mood. Again, in my mind that's what happened.

LOL! I know. It was a travesty what they did to Tab. The whole show was a travesty, but what they did to our glorious Tab was especially horrifying.

I don't think she actually did something horrible, the agents just didn't know she voluneteered to be brozed. I don't think Artie knew that until Helena told Myka. I think it's just mostly a case of people assuming she did something horrible (especially with the 1962 agents).

From what H.G. has said there was some kind of accident that got someone killed (Wooley?), and after that she asked to be bronzed because she was afraid of what she would do, but it was more about what she was afraid of doing as opposed to having actually done something.

*sigh* So true. It's like I know they needed some screen time to bridge the gap between 1892 and 2011, but they didn't need THAT much screen time. They only needed two scenes, the one where they met Daniel, and then the one where they shot at the trumpet. All of the filler, romance crap with them was completely unnecessary (as were the shots of them repeatedly trying to get the job done).

She tries not to show it but Myka wants HG back and BAD!

Joanne's body language in the scenes this season with H.G. is amazing. Myka reveals everything about how she feels about Helena with the way she carries herself (and the way she looks at her). Everything about her conveys Myka's longing.

And Jaime is just as good (she blew me away in that last between them - actually she blew me away all episode. She conveyed many different sides of Helena and two very different Helena's in tonight's episode and she was riveting throughout. The woman is gorgeous, but she's also a very fine actress).

I'm not sure I can handle the week's in between knowing when HG returns!!

This is my fear too. I've been counting down to this episode, and my I'm just going to be tapping my foot waiting for the next H.G. appearance. I like the show well enough (and my new girl-crush on Joanne Kelly is helping with that), but H.G. and Myka/H.G. is what I love the most.

Yeah, Jack and Rebecca were needed. I just didn't think there needed to be that much of them. The episode was tackling enough juicy plots that we didn't need a Jack/Rebecca romance plot too. The time wasted with them making out in the car, and trying all those different ways to get the trumpet and Rebecca deciding to go for it was Jack were B-O-R-I-N-G. All I cared about was the Warehouse 12 plot and the Myka/Pete/Helena threesome of awkward and broken hearts.

I hadn't thought of the scene that way, and that interpretation does make it a little bit better. Just I still feel like in the "Goodbye Helena" and the moments just after that Myka wasn't quite emotional enough. H.G. seemed to be on the verge of breaking down, and Myka was almost blasé.

I think I'm just gonna roll with what you said, to keep the wonderful feelings flowing.

I just love how they got to the heart of it though. Pete was angry at Helena for driving Myka away. I was all, "ET TU, MYKA?!" when she turned H.G. off, but when she yelled, "But I'm back now!" made me flail ~hard about the awesome dynamic between these three. Also, Pete's cheese licking? OMG JOANNE KELLY'S REACTION FACE. Amazing. Pure amazing.

She was so quiet and subdued during the scenes with Pete and Helena.

I was clutching a non-existent necklace when Myka turned H.G. off. To me, the indifference in Myka looked like she was trying too hard to ~act indifferent. Because we all know she's totally not. ;)

I definitely get the feeling that Helena won't be back for a couple of episodes, but what I wouldn't give to see Claudia or Pete catch Myka sneaking chats with H.G.

I'm only watching the show for this ship now, so I don't think I'll be tuning in for the interim. The wife will do that for me and fill me in. ;)

My immediate reaction upon hearing Jaime's voice introducing the recap was exactly this:



My heart was fit to burst the entire episode and then I just broke down at the final scene. Dammit Myka you can't just immediately go and laugh at Pete's hat while I'm sitting here still blubbering like a baby.

Plus H.G. totally flirting with that girl and then her face being all "Fucking straight girls, man." afterwards. AND THE DRESS. AND THEN THE FINGERLESS GLOVES AND EVERYTHING, AND CLUTCHING HER DAMN PEARLS ALL THE TIME.

One episode should not be able to inspire such lustful feelings and then immediately turn around and break your heart while planting more seeds of hope. I can't handle it. They're so in love, I can't.

Sorry to hijack (found your LJ through fic) but another thing to consider is that Myka has always been kinda closed with her HG related pain. Her taking that deep breath after watching Helena disappear, before turning to Pete again felt like she was literally composing herself again. It reminded me of her actions in the car during Reset, where she's all jokey and, "Well, hike up your skirts cuz we've got a bad guy to catch," despite the fact that she was utterly shattered at the time. It's her self defense mechanism, something she probably learned from Pete, and him wearing that goofy hat and smiling was probably just the distraction she needed because she's stuck in a "this sucks so much I am either going to laugh or cry, so I'm gonna go with laugh right now until I'm alone at night and will spend an hour or two curled up in bed wishing things were different" kind of way.

Also, side note, Myka does this little eyebrow lift right before Pete gives HG her dues, and you just know that she had a talk with him and he only said that because his little sister made him apologize to her ex for being an ass. Kinda makes you wonder if she took HG out of the ball and had her own side conversation to apologize to her too, for cutting her off to deal with Pete. Wouldn't be too hard to slip into the bathroom for some privacy while he is out getting food.

Final question- how does that little ball work? Because HG jumps right into that conversation in the beginning complimenting Myka about being right, and I found it odd that it was seamless, despite coming in the middle of the conversation. Can she hear outside that ball? How did she know they were arguing about it?

Oh dear... what really killed me about this episode was how optimistic Helena was about the future during the W12 days. Like that was the one thing that allowed her to continue on after Christina.

Then we fast-forward to her being woken up by a artifact-stealing-villain and noticing 'no, future kindda sucks - here have a look at all these wars and atrocities you missed'.

I was so heart-broken for her the moment she uttered "Mark my words...future will be a wondrous place".

I've decided to be greedy and want both Warehouse 12 and Warehouse 13 with HG on tv. Now that would be heaven. Myka/HG in the present and HG flirting with the ladies in the past... oh my heart.

The feeeelings killed me. I so totally felt the lesbian love in the last scene. Jaime was... I have no words to describe that woman anymore. I was a little disappointed by Myka's quick smiling at the end but I decided to pretend Myka's been learning how to hide her feelings in order to cope with everything and she just expertly shoved them to the background so she wouldn't show her true feelings in front of Pete. When she was left alone maybe she still had the holo-ball and... now I have the image of Myka fondling the holo-ball in my head.

Near-perfect episode. I still can't believe all the STORY they packed into those 48 minutes, especially considering the 1962 deadwood. Myka/H.G. was beautifully handled, I thought, and I really have high hopes for corporeal Helena's return. Damn if I want to wait until the season's end, tho.

If the spin-off happens, I would love to see some of H.G.'s clever, sidelong flirtations with ladies, 'cos you know she had to keep that under wraps while Queen Vicki was on the throne. How tough it would have been to find a woman with her interests, or even with a competitive intellect! Spin-off Helena should hop in that time machine and go backward a few decades, hang out with Ada Byron Lovelace. Now THAT would be an awesome team.

I found it scary and annoying how much H.G. and Myka are styled alike. I miss Myka with her curly hair and jeans and belts.

And yes, I do think your Myka-Helena talk from your fic was better.

I actually didn't feel the subtext as heavily as I did from "The New Guy" and their previous encounters. I think a director or someone told Jaime and Jo to pull it back.

Pete was so much with the: you broke my big sis' heart but she made me swear not to mention it so I'll pretend I'm just mad about the world-ending thing.

Dammit Myka you can't just immediately go and laugh at Pete's hat while I'm sitting here still blubbering like a baby.

I know, right. Like even if she had looked devastated right until Pete came up to her with the hat, then I could her smiling bravely for him. But she just didn't look that upset.

Plus H.G. totally flirting with that girl and then her face being all "Fucking straight girls, man." afterwards.

OMG! "Fucking straight girls!" is like the perfect description of HG's face after that chat. LOL

what really killed me about this episode was how optimistic Helena was about the future during the W12 days.

Ugh, I know. That speech she gave Wooley and then the smile on her face before it faded to her in bronze, just ... ugh, broke my heart.

Heh. I liked Rachel McAdams, but Jaime truly would be perfection. The funny thing is that somewhere I had seen Sherlock trailers with video of Jaime as Irene Adler inter-cut. Would be amazing TBH.

I don't feel ashamed at all that I glow a little every time HG mentions Christina since it's my name too.

I've decided to be greedy and want both Warehouse 12 and Warehouse 13 with HG on tv.

TBH, there's no reason it shouldn't happen. H.G. should be like a consultant in a long-distance relationship with Myka who drops by to visit/help/sex a couple of times a season. Just have Myka mention talking/visiting with HG every once in a while to show they are still going strong even though H.G. is often off screen.

That way, the audience can enjoy the prequel, knowing that even though the prequel will be building towards H.G. grieving and suffering and kind of losing her mind, it'll be okay because we'll know that in the end, she ends up with a gorgeous kickass Warehouse agent who loves her, and the two of them get to ride off in the sunset together eventually.

I was so massively impressed with her. I always love to watch Jaime on screen, but I really enjoyed getting to see her be subtle, and withdrawn yet still magnetic and captivating in the episode. She plays the 'broken' side of HG so well, and I don't get to see her be vulnerable like that very often.

Near-perfect episode.

So true. Less Jack/Rebecca and Myka looking more sad at the end would have made it perfect. But I thoroughly enjoyed this episode.

Damn if I want to wait until the season's end, tho.

This is it. I trust Joanne's enthusiasm for where they take Myka/HG, but I just don't want to have to wait forever to see HG again. I need all the HG possible in my life!

I would love to see some of H.G.'s clever, sidelong flirtations with ladies, 'cos you know she had to keep that under wraps while Queen Vicki was on the throne. How tough it would have been to find a woman with her interests, or even with a competitive intellect!

I would need the show to happen just to see an exploration of this. I would still expect the majority of HG's flirtations to be with men, because it would be far, far easier for her. But I'd love for their to be one or two female love interests and to see how they manage a relationship in a society like that.

I found it scary and annoying how much H.G. and Myka are styled alike. I miss Myka with her curly hair and jeans and belts.

I didn't know how much I loved Myka's hair until they took it away. Joanne is gorgeous, but I miss her natural hair (and the brown colour) so much.

I actually didn't feel the subtext as heavily as I did from "The New Guy" and their previous encounters. I think a director or someone told Jaime and Jo to pull it back.

I just think that we were able to see Myka and HG alone together until the last scene, and so the connection wasn't as apparent until they were alone again, though it was there.

Even in the Season 2 episodes, in the group seasons there's not to much going on between Myka and HG, it's when they're alone together that they crackle.

And even if the director or writers tried to tone anything down, I don't think that Jaime and Jo listened, cause they were both working it hard. Though Jaime was working it super-duper hard, especially in that last scene.

Ultimately, this was a really bittersweet reunion between them, and the "Goodbye, Helena" stung, even though we know she'll be back. It some ways the ep was really fulfilling and in other ways it just killed me.

Mad props to Jaime for making H.G. so awesome, for conveying so many layers of character through her acting.

Jaime could use this episode as an audition reel to show the range of things she can play. Cause they had her stretched all over the spectrum and she NAILED everything! Woman is amazing. So much love.

Word. The writing actually has been kind to these two, but it's Jaime and Jo's chemistry with other other that gives Myka/H.G. this amazing star-crossed epicness. They set of sparks together.

It reminded me of her actions in the car during Reset, where she's all jokey and, "Well, hike up your skirts cuz we've got a bad guy to catch," despite the fact that she was utterly shattered at the time.

That's a very good point. I remember thinking that Myka was taking things strangely well in that scene as well (though she was clearly thinking about H.G).

It occurs to be that seeing how H.G. was and knowing what H.G. was going back to that Myka wouldn't have wanted to break down in front of her. She wouldn't have wanted H.G. to go back into limbo with the image of Myka shattered in her mind.

Myka does this little eyebrow lift right before Pete gives HG her dues, and you just know that she had a talk with him and he only said that because his little sister made him apologize to her ex for being an ass.

I loved that moment. It was so subtle and natural and it just was perfectly Pete and Myka.

Kinda makes you wonder if she took HG out of the ball and had her own side conversation to apologize to her too, for cutting her off to deal with Pete.

That's what happened in my dreams.

how does that little ball work? Because HG jumps right into that conversation in the beginning complimenting Myka about being right

H.G.'s consciousness had to be put into the ball and the ball transported to the Warehouse so she was probably briefed on the situation before she was transferred. Whatever Myka wrote to the Regents was probably given to H.G. to read (or at least summarized for her).

As for how she knew what they were talking about, they all turned to look and/or glare at her, so I figured she just immediately was like "Myka was right, I know what's happening and can help so just gimme a chance okay" about it.

I just wanted to say thank you for the episode, it was way too sad though but it was so good to see Helena happy before she was bronzed and I did like Woolie. Pete really annoyed me, but under the circumstances it's understandable why he acted the way he did.

It was also nice to see Helena's reasons, though I really hope they take her out of limbo because honestly this punishment seems to breaking what little strength she has left, and she honestly seems sorry.

I rewatched the episode and then rewatched their goodbye scene about 3 times -- you're right.

Jaime was working it super-duper hard, especially in that last scene.

H.G.'s face was: I love you-I miss you-I need you.

And Myka's was: I miss my goofy-intelligent girlfriend. Until that "Goodbye, Helena" and she was sniffling back tears and you could see that she really wanted to say more but Pete was there.

I'm in Liverpool so it's been not so good here the last few nights. It's not right in my area - thank goodness, but it's no that far from mine. About 5 mins in a car from mine some idiot drove a JCB into a post office to try and rip out the cash point and my friend friend lives above it! Idiots! It's no longer anything to do with politics, but it's basically groups of young thugs looting and robbing businesses, many of them local and even people. They even smashed up 4 fire engines last night. Makes me SO angry. People are actually dying, it's really frightening. The police can only do so much in their numbers, last night in Manchester they couldn't cope with the sheer numbers. Now the public are taking it into their own hands and are basically taking to the streets with bats to stop the the people causing trouble and protect their own. As much as this can't help things, people need to protect their livelihoods. Shoot them on the spot I say. I have no sympathy for someone who would knowingly set a shop on fire knowing their are families living above.

End rant! ;)

And back to HG and Myka. This episode was FAB! I was literally mouthing to myself at the end scene... 'kiss, kiss'. The tension and feelings in that scene were too much!
