Okay, um ... that was Evil. Seriously, deliciously, wonderfully EVIL.
It was a bit anti-climatic after last weeks double-bang (yes, I said double-bang) and seemed a bit rushed in parts, and YES the 'infected' essentially being zombies was kinda lame and stupid (though the make-up effects were good), but I still dug it.
First off, the Sydney/Nadia interactions were awesome:
-Their shared spidy-senses tingling = awwww they have a connection that goes beyond words.
-And the train scene was heartbreaking (jeebus, that zombie took Nadia out like a line-backer. Seriously, I was like WHA????) but awesome for spycest. Sydney's worry when she realizes Nadia isn't on the train, the run to get to the back, calling out for Nadia near tears. Their fingers grazing and then DEVASTATION! I thought Jen did an amazing job in that scene, you could really feel Sydney's love for Nadia.
-Nadia completely shutting Elena down, with repeated and firm 'I would never betray my sister' retorts. Certainly appealing to the ties between sisters isn't a concept Elena really got, per se, but it was great to show the love and dedication Nadia has to Syd. Not even being turned into a zombie was enough of a threat to get her to even pretend to turn on Syd. From a spy point of few that's probably another 'worst spy ever' for Nadia, but from a 'tru luv' point of view it's "especial" (thank you "The Orphan"!).
-And finally Sydney ignoring everyone's warnings and advice to kill Nadia. You go Syd. No way she was gonna kill her sister/the love of her life. Seriously though, it was really touching seeing Sydney refuse to give up on Nadia in the face of her obvious zombie-osity
*Note: Mia Maestro looked freaky as hell in that make up. But still hot. How is it possible for someone to be a HOT!ZOMBIE? I don't know, but congrats Ms. Maestro, congrats! You've achieved a feat bravely attempted by Michelle Rodriguez and succeeded where she failed. Brava, Bra...va!*
Other Likes:
-Irina gunslapping Elena. She had it coming (since she was 11 apparently)
-Irina taking out Elena. Damn, that was sudden and cold, and totally called for.
-Jack's joy at getting to torture Elena, and she confidence in Syd.
-Elena and Nadia's little scene. Sonia Braga certainly brought the inappropriate sexual tension like a superstar in that scene. Trying to steal Ron Rifkin's spotlight I think she was. The cooing-ness mixed with the viciousness of her appeal to Nadia was interesting and messed up. And I loved Nadia sassing her. She was much sassier this time than the last time an 'inappropriate toucher' kidnapped her (oh, Anna).
-Jen's hair in the last scene. It was all Elektra curly and HOT
-Marshall and Weiss (and the lack of Neiss. Stay away!)
-Nadia's still alive! YAY!
-Syd and Sloane at the end. Oh, they've bonded over their love for Nadia. So sweet.
Dislikes:
-Irina's seeming lack or concern and/or mourning for the PossiblyDead Nadia. Yeah, I know she only met her like 24 hours before, but I don't think she would have been so quick to tell someone to shoot Syd.
-Clifford. Clifford the big red ball of Doom seemed particularly lame this episode. And the dismantling of clifford almost ridiculously easily. What's that word? Oh, yeah ANTI-CLIMACTIC
The ending was shocking and manipulative, but it makes me excited for next season. I'm actually somewhat interested in what Vaughn had to say (which never happens), and I'm kinda hoping that he'll be dead/horribly disfigured in season 5 (oh, I know they won't really hurt the pretty, but as far as writing fics goes in the summer, he IS SO DEAD!)
Overall, I'm happy and looking forward to next season!
