"Fingersmith" oh how I love thee

So thanks to aphrodite_mine I was able to watch the brilliant BBC miniseries "Fingersmith" and ... instant love!

In London 1862 a young orphan Susan Trinder grows up among petty thieves or Fingersmith as they are also called, raised under the rough but loving care of Mrs Sucksby and her `Family', when the devious Richard Rivers aka The Gentleman comes up with a plan to marry a rich heiress and to try to defraud her out of her inheritance, with the help of the young Sue Trinder on the condition that she get a tidy profit as well , Sue finds that her mistress Maud Lilly to be virtual prisoner having every bit of her life being controlled by her eccentric Uncle Christopher Lilly , Soon a curious intimacy and attraction develops between Maud and Sue and as Rivers plan starts to take form, Sue begins to have doubts. - written by sweet


This show was just riveting. I spent four hours of my life (that I should have spent preparing for work tomorrow) watching, completely engrossed. Not only was I captivated by the luminous beauty of Elaine Cassidy (perhaps the only sexy lady to play a person named Maud) but the utter cutifulness of Maud and Sue's love made me *swoon*. Seriously, the chemistry between these two actresses was crazy delicious. And while I could go on and on about Elaine Cassidy's sinful hotness (she's also a really good actress. When Maud cried I got misty eyed), Sally Hawkins (a.k.a Sue, a.k.a. Alanis Morrissette 2.0) also turned in a stellar performance. In fact the whole cast was really good. Charles Dance played a magnificent bastard magnificently (which is pretty much what the man does), Rupert Evans turned in a wonderfully slimy, sleazy, and creepy performance as "The Gentleman", which I wasn't expecting after his adorkable acting in "Hellboy". And the movie had a really strong supporting cast.

Mostly, though, between Imagine Me and You, The Spashley on 'South of Nowhere', and Fingersmith it has been an absolutely delightful month for positive lesbian entertainment with really hot girls and happy endings (*glares at SoN, it better be happy dammit!*).

Anyways, totally two very enthusiastic thumbs up!

Yes, I definately agree on the AMAZINGNESS of that whole cast.

And Imagine Me and You had BETTER come to my area. DAMN bible belt small town! I want to see it sooooo bad.

I love Fingersmith. Some of the looks between Maud and Sue were possitively heartbreaking, and I just adored the scene with Maud's sharp tooth.
