Kitty smirked at the compliment cocking her head to the side as if she already knew it.
Storm smiled before shaking her head and looking towards the other new recruits. Her eyes soon found Kitty’s again however, a soft smile coming to her lips when their eyes met.
Kitty ran up to her in the garden later on that day, wrapping her arms happily around her waist, Storm’s arm falling easily around the young woman’s shoulders.
Kitty asked when she’d get to learn how to fly the plane.
Storm laughed and promised to teach her.
They walked easily, side by side around the grounds, hands brushing against each other too often to be accidental by the time they reached the patio doors.
Upon later reflection she would come to realize that she wasn't really surprised when she awoke later that night to find Kitty standing silently by the side of her bed. However, the suddenness of the girl’s appearance forced Storm to react immediately, to act on instinct instead of consideration.
Consideration would’ve have led her to tell Kitty to leave.
Instinct led her pull back the sheet.
Kitty’s body slid against hers as the young woman pressed herself against her side.
Storm remembered her face as it had been earlier that day bathed in sunlight.
Kitty’s lips fluttered against her bare collarbone the movement half nuzzle and half caress.
“It’s a perfect fit,” the girl whispered.
