Had a fun shopping trip in downtown Toronto today. Got the newest issue of Runaways (Nico you are such a whore! And acknowledging that your easy doesn't make it any less slutty!) Got myself a wicked new velour jacket and two kick-ass polo dress shirts from American Apparrel with a V.I.P. discount thank you very much (*woot*)

And I saw Brandi from 'Canada's Next Top Model'. I seriously cannot believe she lost (travesty! travesty! Okay fine, she's kind of a lush, but still...), she is STUNNING in person. It was like sunbeams were shinning down on her obscuring everything around her so that you could only see the pretty.

Now onto Blade ...

R.I.P. Glynis. You were really hot and we'll miss you. Thanks for at least giving us a kick-ass fight before you bit it. Also, Krista looked really hot snarking about your death so that's another bonus. Wish you could have stayed around for a while longer. Looking forward to Charlotte avenging your death. It's so hard to find good, sexy minions that she'll be feeling your loss acutely. See you on the 4400 (where sadly you are not quite as hot).

Wow Krista, great babysitting skills. Way to fucking lose your mom! Yeah, alright you looked all hot and shit, but seriously where the hell were you looking for her before Blade showed up, the Fight Club? Honestly, where did all those injuries come from? I don't know but I guess it looked cool and dramatic. But really, you couldn't think of going to see UncleAngry ... um, I mean Uncle Pat without Blade's growly two cents?

Chase's bum!

R.I.P. Uncle Pat. I'm not gonna compliment you a whole lot cause unlike Glynis I didn't like you. You were less douchey this episode but I don't really miss you (and apparently neither does Krista). Bye.

Chase, Chase, Chase. Damn you were looking fine tonight girlfriend. And thanks for confirming that vampire sex is growly and hot (though it would have been hotter if you were with Krista, or Glynis, or hell even Marcus). I just love that everyone is in love with Chase (spin-off series Everybody Loves Chase, anyone?). It must be hard to be so mad hot all the time.

I'll say though that she had be fooled. That was a really good con. I seriously believed Chase was considering leaving Marcus for a while, and wanted to kick Marcus's smarmy ass for turning on her like that after decades in his service. The way she looked all teary and vulnerable, and especially the 'domineering husband' scene when Marcus showed up in her hotel room. Dayum. That Chase is quite the little actress. I didn't catch on to the fact that they were totally playing Alex until Marcus asked Chase to fix them all a drink. Then I was like "you're going down Mr. PurebloodMan". R.I.P. Alex, I didn't really dig that you tried to buy Chase (and you totally underbid on her!) and you were kind of a dork so I won't miss you. (P.S. see you on Stargate Atlantis and The 4400, Kavan!)

Are they intentially trying to make the purebloods seem like asshats? Because really, for beings that are supposed to be immortal and mad powerful they're coming off ... well, really none of those things. Charlotte's cool, and evvvvil, but Marcus is totally playing her. Alex was totally unimpressive, I mean he seemed like a rich kid whose only accomplishment in life was spending daddy's money and somehow managing never to have held at job. Sure he has good taste in women ... well actually not since Chase totally led him to the slaughter. Anyway, the purebloods are kind of coming off like lazy royals right now, with no real skills or abilities who have gotten complacement in their high positions and in having their infected vampire cronies doing all of the heavy lifting so that they can sit about eating cake. And by cake I mean pastry chefs who bake cakes. Anyway, if that's what they're going far I like the idea and would kind of like to see it expanded upon.

Chase's bum!

The House of Chthon (or at least Marcus's lair) is tres chic. Seriously, Krista must be the bum of the house, cause everyone was dressed to the nines. No wonder Chase was trying to help her dress a few episodes back - though I personally enjoy Krista's casual hotness. Also, Marcus in smarm mode was pretty amusing. He's so smarmy.

R.I.P. Krista's mom. We hardly knew ye. Felt kinda bad for her when she was all huddled in corners looking like a bag lady and when she came running into the House of Chthon all crazy cat lady like. I knew that it wasn't going to end well for her but the last scene was still really effective and well done. When she went all vamp voice calling Krista a bitch, I was like "Blade is gonna cap a mom!" I felt really bad for Krista and her mom at the end but it had to be done. Plus, Jill Wagner does her best acting when she's killing her mom ;)

Next week looks good! Postal!Krista, Charlotte, male vamp fight and more :D

Chase's bum!

I saw your post and then another by a poster called 'fembuck' and I was all 'whaa? janine likes marcus!?! When did this happen?'

Me? Like Marcus? Never! Fearing that someone stole my LJ name and was besmirching it with Marcus loving I checked the thread and that post was by femvamp (*phew*) The day I start worrying about Marcus is the day I need to be put down like Krista's mom.

The biggest part is TPTB are *way* too invested in Krista, a character that just screams spinoff. Which is fine but during the first season? And why even bother pitching a show about Blade if the character they want to sell is Krista?

So true. I mean I love my Krista, but really Blade should be a significant focus of the show. The writers are saying that it's an ensemble show and yeah I get that, but it's also called Blade: The Series and he should be the focus. Afterall, Angel and Buffy were emsemble shows, but the action always revolved around the title characters. Blade is very reactionary in this show, almost everything he does it motivated by someone elses actions (i.e. this episode it was all about helping Krista deal with her mom issue).

*sigh* Rip, Mark Frankel. Julian Luna, now there was a man who could be menacing *and* sympathetic. Between him and Steve Bacic you've now given me even *more* reason not to like Marcus/Jackson!

Imagine Marcus seeming powerful without being smarmy. Seriously, Julian was a leader, Marcus seems like he'd slip girls rufi's. *le sigh*

The problem with the Agent Collins storyline is he's a character who's about 5 steps behind the audience, basically playing a game of catch-up, and we're all watching him learn shit we already know. Which, again, boring.

Very true. The one episode that Collins was interesting in was the one where he was searching Boone's house and found that book on Armaya. That was cool because we were actually learning something along with the character. But having him discover things that we've known from the pilot is not good tv.

It's just something I read on a message board so, grain of salt. But, I do know Michael Jai White, an actor/martial artist (who would've been my choice) wasn't even asked to audition.

I've seen a few things with him in it and he would have been an excellent choice. He's not Denzel, but then again to play Blade you don't need to be and his acting certainly couldn't be worse than Sticky's. And then we'd have KICKASS fight scenes. Plus, from what I remember of him, he wouldn't have to try to bring the menacing, he just has it. I feel with Sticky like he's trying to be badass, when just looking at Blade should make you wanna run in the other direction.

I pretty much imagine every black male with an SAG card probably sent in their resume. And yet.. they chose Sticky. Which again - why?

When you put it like that ... truly incomprehensible. Especially since almost every black male actor they've had on the show (with the exception of Roundtree because he's too old) could have made a better blade. Seriously, the guy they had playing his father in the flashbacks, was a good actor, a handsome handsome man, and tall and well built ... hello charismatic Blade who could emote. And really his fighting couldn't be any worse so ...

*Thinks about good casting decisions like Jill Wagner, Jess Gower, and Nelson Lee and how they make up for some of the other casting decisions*

*snerk* I love it. Marcus Van Sciver as the Joe Francis (Girls Gone Wild Founder) of the vampire world.

Hee, I know. Seeing Sticky makes me wanna grab my car keys when I'm supposed to be peeing my pants. I just.. all I want from Sticky is just a *glimmer* of charisma. Is that too much to ask? Although, I will say I saw more sexual tension between Blade and Krista in episode 8 than anything between Marcus and Krista.

I was reading an interview with Jill Wagner and it kinda seems like once they got the green light they kinda zipped through the casting process. Iirc, Wagner was hired after only a week's worth of auditioning. Imo, they were going with style over substance and just got lucky in some of their casting choices. Sure, I'll kiss the feet over whoever it was who chose Gower and Wagner but then slap'em for Sticky and Jackson.

Marcus Van Sciver as the Joe Francis (Girls Gone Wild Founder) of the vampire world.

That would require him to have some fun. And be charismatic. I mean he would have to talk girls into taking their tops off. Actually, being the charisma vaccum that he is, Marcus would probably get Chase to talk the girls into taking their tops off and then reap all the rewards. Banker with fangs.

I just.. all I want from Sticky is just a *glimmer* of charisma. Is that too much to ask?

It's really not. But I have yet to see it either. It's like when Blade stopped reading comics and wearing bell-bottoms he lost all his personality. At least in the movies he brought the badass ("Some motherfuckers are always trying to ice-skate uphill" "Kill you? Motherfucker I'll kill you!", his total distain for the Nightstalkers and Hannibals quips "Hello my name is 'Fuck You'? What is that? Is that suppose to be funny?") Now we've just got raspy cardboard.

Although, I will say I saw more sexual tension between Blade and Krista in episode 8 than anything between Marcus and Krista.

They definately had their moments. I kinda dig their vibe. In fact I think Krista (if they were allowed to be around each other more) could be very good for the character. He actually showed some emotion this week, she's not just an asset to him, he went against his instincts and code to help her. She could really humanize him, give him some flavor and a chance to display some emotions. And Jill Wagner seems to love her some Sticky so I'm sure she'd love to work with him more, and they already have more chemistry than she does with Jackson.

Iirc, Wagner was hired after only a week's worth of auditioning.

Yeah, I was just reading an interview with her where she said she auditioned on the Monday and was like on her way to Vancouver on the Sunday. I wonder is there was a reason for the short period of time, like they were really rushed to start production or if they were just half assing it. Because if they'd had time to do some fight scenes run throughs, or have the actors read with each other they might have realized Jackson and Wagner have little chemistry and that Sticky can't seem to lift his leg above waist height.

Oh well, thank goodness for dumb luck giving us Gower, Wagner, Lee, and Emily Idon'tknowherlastname who plays Charlotte.
