Kristanna Loken is Painkiller Jane ... yeah, no matter how cheesy this show is I'll watch it. Because, Kristanna Loken, kicking ass on my TV screen once a week for at least 22 episodes is golden.

Even better, now that I know she'll be starring in something on the SciFi Channel, I can skip watching her in The L Word!! Sure, I'll totally still watch it because the lure of KL making out with another chick is too good to pass up, but still, there is the dream.

Hopefully, a) the show won't suck and b) get cancelled before the audience has a chance to help keep it on the air. Why yes, I'm looking at *you* Spike and your stupid cancellation of Blade!

Hey, do you think we could start a letter writing campaign to get Gower and Wagner on 'Painkiller Jain'?

PS - Dexter totally rocks!!

LOL! I had the same thought (though I too decided that I would still watch or at least preview episodes of the L Word to see KLoken make out with a chick ... though likely Loken's scenes will be the only ones I'll watch ... unless Jennifer Beals appears in a bra for some reason.

Still, if the L Word is as unbearable as it was last year, it's nice to know that I can be all like "Frak this shit" and see Loken in Painkiller Jane a few months later.

Hopefully, a) the show won't suck and b) get cancelled before the audience has a chance to help keep it on the air. Why yes, I'm looking at *you* Spike and your stupid cancellation of Blade!

a) I hope so too. The tv movie wasn't really that great, but they've retooled it so I'm hoping they've done so for the better. Plus, Loken is executive producing so she has a chance to ensure that the show doesn't suck and she has a job next year ;D

b) Since SciFi is a real network I'm hoping they won't make boneheaded decisions like "He-man, Woman haters" Spike TV. *seethes with rage over the cancellation of Blade* But yeah, I'm so sick of networks cancelling shows after three episodes, it's like give it a chance people. I like that the deal for this is 22 episodes though, it bodes well for network support. Plus, with Alias now off the air there are no real 'female hero kicks ass' shows on the air, so hopefull Painkiller Jane can fill that niche.

Hey, do you think we could start a letter writing campaign to get Gower and Wagner on 'Painkiller Jain'?

OMG! Loken, Wagner and Gower on the same show *goes to a very, very happy place. Tears form ... it's really beautiful there*

I saw Jill in a Mercury commerical a little while ago and went on like a five minute cursing rampage about SPIKETV which I'll never turn to again (sorry TNG, but I'm taking a stand).

PS - Dexter totally rocks!!

*fist pump* Another "Dexter" fan. Awesome! Yeah, I really like the show (I actually bough "Darkly Dreaming Dexter" after the pilot and read it in two days). Michael C. Hall, was never really on my radar but I love him in this role (and now longer find me boring looking like I did whenever I saw Six Feet Under ads).

Too bad it will probably be cheesy.

What I didn't understand about Blade's cancellation is this - the ratings finally settled around the 1.3 mark. Now, a 1.3 is also the average ratings for the Stargates on Sci-Fi. If a 1.3 is good for SciFi, what the Hell was Spike expecting from an original series on a niche network such as Spike. And what the Hell kinda ratings do their other programs get?

I think what bugs me the most is that since the series was already 'in the can' when it aired, TPTB had *no chance* to retool the series to try and boost the ratings until the second season. It's like Spike didn't even wanna try that just kills me about the whole thing.

OMG! Loken, Wagner and Gower on the same show *goes to a very, very happy place. Tears form ... it's really beautiful there*

Dude, I've already started thinking about crossover fic! Painkiller Jain versus a Pain-inflicting addicted vampire and the woman torn between the two of them.. the possibilities are endless. And with Loken Exec Producing, there's a modicum of possibility for hot girl-on-girl action!

*fist pump* Another "Dexter" fan. Awesome!

At first, I was ambivalent about watching it because I wasn't sure I could handle a series about a serial killer. BSG pretty much fills my depressing television quota. But, I happened to catch a piece of episode 3, ended up watching the whole thing and got hooked! Plus, Dexter's sister is hot and there just *has* to be some kind of HateSex in the future between her and Lt. Laguerta!

PS - Is Dexter's sister adopted as well?

*groan* you know I'm in.

Does this mean you'll be writing Painkiller Jane fic?? pretty please. I mean, someone has to make her feel...something, right? *g*

*head hurts* I have no idea what Spike was expecting from the show. It's like they decided to cancell it just because they were bitter there was a drop off from the pilot. Blade was getting hella good word of mouth, and I'm sure the ratings would have gone up in the second season. I just can't for the life of me figure out what Spike was thinking (especially having read an outline for their new drama "A.M.P.E.D." which sounds cliched as hell - two dectectives investing people in their town who are manifesting strange genetic mutations that threaten others lives. It's like "The 4400 are Heroes fighting for Law and Order in Jericho" *sticks tongue out*)

I've already started thinking about crossover fic! Painkiller Jain versus a Pain-inflicting addicted vampire and the woman torn between the two of them.. the possibilities are endless.

I soooo want to read that fic! I will be the first in line squeeing and fainting from excitement!

And with Loken Exec Producing, there's a modicum of possibility for hot girl-on-girl action!

Represent sistah! I certainly hope the show will rife with subtext (like BloodRayne ... only, you know good)

Plus, Dexter's sister is hot and there just *has* to be some kind of HateSex in the future between her and Lt. Laguerta!

Hee. I would totally read that fic. Laguerta just hates Deb because Deb makes her question her sexuality by being all Butchy McFabulous (and Laguerta knows that giving into her insane lust for Deb would ruin her political ambitions)

PS - Is Dexter's sister adopted as well?

No, Deb isn't adopted. She's Harry's biological daughter.

I've never read the comic but I saw the scifi tv movie last year. Is the comic worth checking out? I love reading the original material (or at least some of it) before seeing adapations.

Any show with a girl kicking ass I'm watching.

Are you me? lol. That's totally how I feel. I'm known for it. At work now whenever there's a movie trailer that shows a female so much as throwing a punch my co-workers are like "so you're seeing Aeon Flux/Ultraviolet/Underworld/any movie with girls kicking ass, on the weekend aren't you?" ;)

The fact that the girl kicking ass is Kristanna Loken is just gravy.

I'm hoping that it will surprise me and not be terribly cheesy, but kinda gritty and badass like Blade turned out to be. I'm hoping it's the new Blade (only, you know not cancelled after the first kickass season).

Woot! I love that we've already got a Painkiller Jane bandwagon going!

I foresee this in the future. As long as the show is at all watchable and there is another female featured on screen with Loken at some point I'm gonna have to try and slash it. It kills me that I haven't slashed a Loken character yet considering my huge girlcrush on her so ... *crosses fingers*

The comic is variable, written by different people at different times. I'm not certain of good issue numbers, it's not one I own. I mostly just like the idea.

Ah, alright good to know. I love the idea as well, so I'll let the show stand for itself. It really is an interesting concept, lets just hope they do it justice *warning fist shake at PTB*

Honestly, this does sound kinda stupid. I feel like watching it now just to see how bad it is. And my luck I'll get hocked on it and blame you for it. *sigh* It'll be Blade all over again.

I obviously have no choice about staying away. I just hope they won't pull a 'Blade' again. Still in the Land of Bitterness about that.

The sad part is I'll probably end up watching this too. It sounds too much like 'local police fight zombie infection' for me to pass up. I'm a sucker for good/bad/godawful just as long as there's a zombie in it tales.

Laguerta just hates Deb because Deb makes her question her sexuality by being all Butchy McFabulous

Plus, you have the whole woman boss hating on the sole female subordinate angle. Laguerta is both threatened by and attracted to Deb. So, she projects that anger onto Deb, while projecting her lust for Deb onto Deb's brother Dexter. It's all very twisted and Freudian. Thank God Dexter's a serial killer, or else things could get *really* complicated, lol.

lol.

Well, the good thing is that Sci-Fi isn't likely to go 'ewww girls' and cancell Painkiller Jane because more females than they counted on were watching it. I'm hoping the fact that Sci-Fi is an actual network with an emmy caliber show *hugs BSG* on it signals that if Painkiller turns out to actually be decent like Blade (R.I.P) that we'll get more than one season.

As it stands, at least they've ordered 22 episodes which means it'll be on for longer than other shows I've loved and lost half-way through the first season.

So, let's hope that I have the opportunity to stare at Kristanna Loken for 3 or 4 seasons ... um, I mean that the show is decent ... yeah, yeah that's what I meant ;)

Yeah, I know. Blade was like the straw that broke the camels back and now I'm hestitant to be excited about or like any show because I've been burned so badly so many times in the past. But, the lure of girly ass kicking and Kristanna Loken is drawing me in, and so let's hope that the show is good and that Sci-Fi has people with a least a few neurons firing in charge of it! *kicks Spike TV in the head ... not that it would do any damage*

They don't care who's watching their shows, as long as people watch. Too bad other networks don't have the same philosophy.

As long as it doesn't turn out to be another Tru Calling. I loved that show and Fox goes ahead and cancels it. Yeah it was kinda cheesy, who cares really?

lol, I felt the same about Tru Calling. I got to stare at Eliza Dushku everyweek...I mean...see Vancouver landcapes that I recognize...wow that was a crappy excuse...
