Kristanna Loken is Painkiller Jane ... yeah, no matter how cheesy this show is I'll watch it. Because, Kristanna Loken, kicking ass on my TV screen once a week for at least 22 episodes is golden.

Date: 2006-10-20 08:32 pm (UTC)Hopefully, a) the show won't suck and b) get cancelled before the audience has a chance to help keep it on the air. Why yes, I'm looking at *you* Spike and your stupid cancellation of Blade!
Hey, do you think we could start a letter writing campaign to get Gower and Wagner on 'Painkiller Jain'?
PS - Dexter totally rocks!!

Date: 2006-10-20 08:52 pm (UTC)LOL! I had the same thought (though I too decided that I would still watch or at least preview episodes of the L Word to see KLoken make out with a chick ... though likely Loken's scenes will be the only ones I'll watch ... unless Jennifer Beals appears in a bra for some reason.
Still, if the L Word is as unbearable as it was last year, it's nice to know that I can be all like "Frak this shit" and see Loken in Painkiller Jane a few months later.

a) I hope so too. The tv movie wasn't really that great, but they've retooled it so I'm hoping they've done so for the better. Plus, Loken is executive producing so she has a chance to ensure that the show doesn't suck and she has a job next year ;D
b) Since SciFi is a real network I'm hoping they won't make boneheaded decisions like "He-man, Woman haters" Spike TV. *seethes with rage over the cancellation of Blade* But yeah, I'm so sick of networks cancelling shows after three episodes, it's like give it a chance people. I like that the deal for this is 22 episodes though, it bodes well for network support. Plus, with Alias now off the air there are no real 'female hero kicks ass' shows on the air, so hopefull Painkiller Jane can fill that niche.

OMG! Loken, Wagner and Gower on the same show *goes to a very, very happy place. Tears form ... it's really beautiful there*
I saw Jill in a Mercury commerical a little while ago and went on like a five minute cursing rampage about SPIKETV which I'll never turn to again (sorry TNG, but I'm taking a stand).
PS - Dexter totally rocks!!
*fist pump* Another "Dexter" fan. Awesome! Yeah, I really like the show (I actually bough "Darkly Dreaming Dexter" after the pilot and read it in two days). Michael C. Hall, was never really on my radar but I love him in this role (and now longer find me boring looking like I did whenever I saw Six Feet Under ads).

Date: 2006-10-20 10:48 pm (UTC)I think what bugs me the most is that since the series was already 'in the can' when it aired, TPTB had *no chance* to retool the series to try and boost the ratings until the second season. It's like Spike didn't even wanna try that just kills me about the whole thing.

Dude, I've already started thinking about crossover fic! Painkiller Jain versus a Pain-inflicting addicted vampire and the woman torn between the two of them.. the possibilities are endless. And with Loken Exec Producing, there's a modicum of possibility for hot girl-on-girl action!

At first, I was ambivalent about watching it because I wasn't sure I could handle a series about a serial killer. BSG pretty much fills my depressing television quota. But, I happened to catch a piece of episode 3, ended up watching the whole thing and got hooked! Plus, Dexter's sister is hot and there just *has* to be some kind of HateSex in the future between her and Lt. Laguerta!
PS - Is Dexter's sister adopted as well?

Date: 2006-10-21 12:12 am (UTC)*head hurts* I have no idea what Spike was expecting from the show. It's like they decided to cancell it just because they were bitter there was a drop off from the pilot. Blade was getting hella good word of mouth, and I'm sure the ratings would have gone up in the second season. I just can't for the life of me figure out what Spike was thinking (especially having read an outline for their new drama "A.M.P.E.D." which sounds cliched as hell - two dectectives investing people in their town who are manifesting strange genetic mutations that threaten others lives. It's like "The 4400 are Heroes fighting for Law and Order in Jericho" *sticks tongue out*)

I soooo want to read that fic! I will be the first in line squeeing and fainting from excitement!

Represent sistah! I certainly hope the show will rife with subtext (like BloodRayne ... only, you know good)

Hee. I would totally read that fic. Laguerta just hates Deb because Deb makes her question her sexuality by being all Butchy McFabulous (and Laguerta knows that giving into her insane lust for Deb would ruin her political ambitions)
PS - Is Dexter's sister adopted as well?
No, Deb isn't adopted. She's Harry's biological daughter.

Date: 2006-10-21 02:51 pm (UTC)The sad part is I'll probably end up watching this too. It sounds too much like 'local police fight zombie infection' for me to pass up. I'm a sucker for good/bad/godawful just as long as there's a zombie in it tales.

Plus, you have the whole woman boss hating on the sole female subordinate angle. Laguerta is both threatened by and attracted to Deb. So, she projects that anger onto Deb, while projecting her lust for Deb onto Deb's brother Dexter. It's all very twisted and Freudian. Thank God Dexter's a serial killer, or else things could get *really* complicated, lol.
