Lena Headey is Sarah Connor!

Lena Headey (Imagine Me & You) has landed the plum leading role in the Fox pilot "The Sarah Connor Chronicles," reports Variety.

The project, from Warner Bros. TV, continues the "Terminator" movie franchise storyline by focusing on Sarah and her 15-year-old son John, as they fight attackers from the future in present-day Los Angeles.

Headey takes over the role made famous by Linda Hamilton in the first two "Terminator" films. Josh Friedman will write and David Nutter is set to direct the pilot.

Please, please, please do not let this show go the way of Ultra. Lena Headey as Butchy McFabulous Sarah Connor is like a dream come true. If it couldn't be Linda Hamilton I will totally take Lena (LH and LH, it was meant to be). 2007 is shaping up to be a good year for kick-ass females in sci-fi series. My only worry is that it's on Fox, which means it will be brilliant, I will love it, but it won't be getting a bajillion viewers after like 8 episodes and will get cancelled (*flips Fox the bird*).

Yes! Two of my favourite things; Lena and Sarah Connor, rolled into one. This is a good day.

lol, yeah I know. Individually, awesome ... together double-awesome and if they have a scene of Lena doing the chin-ups of badassery in a tank top *gets a little misty eyed*

Huh. Huh!

David Nutter is the showrunner -- credits include Supernatural, The Sopranos, Dark Angel, Smallville, Entourage, and Nip/Tuck. All decent-to-good shows, and hsowing variety.

Okay, that shows promise . . .

*pets Dark Angel DVDs* I like the the previous work, Dark Angel was a passion of mine, and Supernatural, Nip/Tuck, Smallville and Entourage are all shows that I've enjoyed though haven't necessarily been able to keep up with.

Good sign, at least it's not like his previous credits weren't like Relic Hunter or something.

*becomes cautiously optimistic*

Lena Headey kicking ass, I'm so looking forward to it. David Nutter is the guy behind Roswell (1st season) and Tarzan. Two shows that were doomed before they started, but which I'm nonetheless inexplicably fond of. Should be interesting...

I'm all for the Lena Headey kicking ass. And I dug the first season of Roswell, and liked Tarzan dammit! Dammit (I said it again because I did like the show, and was starting to find it's stride when it was cancelled. Plus Lucy Lawless smarming her away around as the sexy, and devious Aunt Kathleen was gold).

Let's hope The Sarah Connor Chronicles at least get as much of a chance as Roswell did.

Oh, oh. I heard about this pilot a couple of months ago, in the pre-casting stages and thought, "it will only kick ass if they can find someone who can rock Sarah like Linda did." And.. well, they have. My only question, will she bulk up? Hmmmm....

Me too. Cause Linda Hamilton totally ruled, pwning everything in sight as Sarah, but I'm very pleased with the casting of Lena "nod of death" Headey (yeah, I've been watching the "300" trailer too much, lol).

And.. well, they have. My only question, will she bulk up?

I doubt it, at least not to the degree that Hamilton did for T2 because that would be a hell of physique to maintain if the series goes on for seasons, but a little more arm definition would be nice and probably not too taxing. After all Sarah doesn't have superpowers like Buffy, or Max to explain why a skinny woman kicks so much ass.

Donald Rumsfeld resigns *and* Lena Headley is cast as Sarah Connor!?! Man, it's like Christmas came a month early or something!

lol. *looks up to see if the sky is falling* Tis, a beautiful, beautiful day. Plus in the promo pic Lena is rocking the jacket over a hoodie look that one Jill Wagner made me fall in love with over the summer. Lets hope the show is as good as Blade, only gets to stay on the air!

I hope this comes out well, too. Though, I'm leery about James Cameron not having anything to do with this.

Yeah, it's always slightly worrying when the originator of something has nothing to do with a contination or revamping of it. But David Nutter has a pretty good resume, and I loved the post-apocalyptic world of Dark Angel, so maybe some fresh blood won't be too bad (because despite my love for the franchise, and my girl Kristanna T3, was kind of a hot mess).

I guess we'll see. Yeah, I wasn't too thrilled with T3 either. Loken was good in it, but it just didn't feel like a Cameron movie. Plus it did away with a lot of stuff setup in T2.

I hate to be 'the glass is half empty' but it might end up like Tru Calling. Tru had loads of viewers in the beginning (mostly Buffy fans more than likely), it went strong in the ratings, slowly lost them, got a second season and was cancelled.

Eliza Dushku was here in Vancouver goddamnit! They filmed the morgue scenes at UBC for crying out loud. My dad's company had the security contract for the set (at least I think they did...). Ok, Tru Calling was kinda hokey but who cares? They cancelled Family Guy and brought it back. I hate Fox. They get rid of the best shows.

Well, if the show retcons away Sarah Connor dying of breast cancer (seriously, T3, WTF?), I'm fine with it. Although if I know anything of fandom, the main OTP will turn out to be Sarah/John and they'll start calling it Connorcest or something and then where will I be?
