Ugly Betty you slay me!

Quoteables:

Daniel: "Are you going to kill me?"
Amanada: "Hey, accountantman. Looking for Betty? She's down here."
Marc: "I'll put out a Gay-PB!"
Amanada: "Grow some, Bambi. Release your inner MODE woman. MODE women are NEVER the other woman, we are the only women"
Willy: "Stop fondling my limes."
Amanda: "Ugh, I'm still bored. Watching nerd love is so tedious."
- Willy: "Be her new Betty."
- Marc: "Guess I'll have to start eating potatoes."
Christina: "I'm Scottish, not an Australian hooker."
Grace: "Was so excited with my date with Daniel Meade. Instead, I ended up back in the dormroom playing Wolfenstein on my computer all night long. Wolfenstein, Wolfenstein, Wolfenstein!"
Hilda: "Justin honey, don't dance near the guy with the hand under his coat."
Wilhelmina: Pardon me. I was was rude in not introducing myself earlier. punches the transphobic jerk.

The Commentary

Aww, Alexis *hugs* You stubborn, splendid, adorable fool!

Since the Alexis reveal I've been wondering how she could be so up on her high horse about Daniel being mad at her for faking her own death, and while I'm still clueless as to how a grown ass adult couldn't anticipate family and friends reacting negatively to death!faking, tonight's episode established that Alex just really was that clueless, or at least so determined to go through with the sex change that he probably purposefully didn't think about the effect his actions would have on others.

But it hit Alexis tonight, and *wipes tear*, poor baby.

Now, Alexis sitting in her huge-ass, expensive office, dressed to the nine's eating a burger and fries was pathetic (and and kind of hilarious), but then when she admitted that all of her former friends wanted nothing to do with her because of the death!faking I was 'awww'ing and totally wanted to give her a big hug.

Then my heart got all warmed when Alexis was all in her element in the sports bar looking all happy and radiant. She was all ravishing, and being all cute like "I threw that [basketball] like a girl, right?", being flirty with (a scary-faced) Jerry O'Connell, and I started to feel a bit better for her (though secretly I was sad for me since it seems like they're making Alexis into dudes, which means no RR GoGA, which brings sad tears to my eyes).

But then, then Ugly Betty had to go and crush me (and Alexis), by having Jerry's character play Alexis, getting her number on a dare from his friends before telling her that he knew she used to be a dude and calling her a freak. *tear* Of, course this allowed for the kick-ass shot of Vanessa Williams decking the loser which was awesome, but still ... sad. Then, as if that wasn't bad enough 'Alexis Meade's no good very bad day' just continued with Wili totally abandoning her moments after defending her and telling Alexis that she would always have a friend in her, leaving Alexis alone, friendless and disillussioned with humanity.

AWWWWWW! Alexis! *hugs*

Now, I've never thought much of Rebecca Romijn as an actress (I found her performance in Femme Fatale absolutely painful to watch - except for the parts were she was making out with Rie Rasmussen), but the last few episodes of Ugly Betty made me admit that she could do comedy, and "Derailed" has now convinced me that she can do dramatic as well now too. Because, dude, she killed me tonight.

Such heartbreak.

As for the rest of the episode, Marc and Christina rocked. I loved them together. Not quite as much as Marc and Amanda, but they were definately tons of fun to watch. Also, I liked seeing that split second for humanity from Marc before he ran off to do Willy's bidding again.

Wilhemina: You're not here to stitch, you're here to snitch.
Marc: She needs some information, bitch! What? I thought we were rhyming.

Oh, Amanada, I loved you for like all two minutes you were on screen. Her little pep talk to Betty about how she had been at Mode long enough to start being a bitch was awesome, espeically since Becki Newton and America were all up in each other's faces and it looked like they were going to kiss. Betty having visions of Amanada inspiring her to do evil was also the bestest!

Also made of win, was Santos standing up for Justin on the subway! Now that Santos is not being a complete ass I can resume having a crush on him (mmm, sexy Cesar!) Justin also continues to be awesome and the actor that plays him has a surprisingly nice singing voice ... but, if I was on a subway that had stalled and some kid started singing showtunes and dancing around I would have been as unamused as the bystanders on the show were.

LUCY LIU, rocked as Ling Lite. "Like how I was standing outside in the snow crying icicle tears!" lol. As long as The Chin doesn't lose all of her edge now that she got herself a little Meade I'll be looking forward to seeing more Liu on the show.

Overall, kick-ass episode that brought the funny and the sad!

Tonights Betty totally rocked hardcore. It touched on all the basic emotional stepping stones I enjoy watching. It had the funny, the sad, some smut (PG-13 rated of course, it is after all ABC), a little violence, witty dialog, cuteness and beautiful people doing all or some of these things.

And that whole "I threw that like a girl, right?" scene was priceless.

Overall it left me extremely satisfied, but now that you mentioned the probability of no RR GoGA it does dampen it a bit. Awe... it makes me sad too.

So true. It was a nice complete viewing experience. Just everything you could want from a show was in there and done so well. Like I went from smiling at Alexis and Daniel at the beginning to wiping tears away with Alexis at the end. I was so happy to see Santos except Justin, and was totally into the Betty/Charlie bonding before it all went down hill.

So good.

And that whole "I threw that like a girl, right?" scene was priceless.

That was gold. I love that they're not forgetting that Alexis is still learning how to be a woman. I loved her eating the burger and fries for the same reason. It's just such a dude meal, that stood in sharp constrast to her dress and surroundings. Although I have to say, RR was shooting that basketball like a girl (I wonder if that was concious on her part, or if she just really can't play basketball, lol)

but now that you mentioned the probability of no RR GoGA it does dampen it a bit. Awe... it makes me sad too.

I mean, come on. Seriously, I know the lesbians in fashion are less common, but they exist and need to represented on the show as well. I mean I doubt they would show anything too sexy, but I wanna see Alexis flirting with girls too. Get like Amanada Moore on the show, or RR's gal pal Rie Rasmussen or something to play a model Alexis hits on. It would make me ever so happy. Hell, I'd like an Alexis/Willy or Alexis/Amanda hook up as well! You choose producer people, but give me something!

P.S. Icon is Jordana Brewster, yes? So pretty!
