Picture your ideal movie for whatever fandom you choose, then tell us about the first fifteen minutes of it. Who's the villain, who's the hero, what's the cast, what's the cinematography like? Even write a snippet; prose or script equally accepted.


EXT. A BARELY WORN DIRT TRAIL - WILD COUNTRY - DAY

A close-up of a horse’s feet running at full gallop. We follow it for a few seconds before slowly panning up to see the figure seated in the saddle.

It’s a woman, JULIA, she’s a wild woman dressed in leather and fur. Her clothes, hair and face at splattered with blood, her clothes are ripped, and dirty. There is a frantic, desperate look in her eyes, and we see her look behind her worriedly (camera is tight on her face so we don’t see much more than her and blurs of green behind her).

She doesn’t know if she’s being followed and at this point neither do we.

She rides up to a rock face. There’s a waterfall beside it and the area is surround by trees. We get a good look at her surroundings. It is wild country; untamed, the trees that surround her are dark and threatening. We get a sense of the foreignness of them that were she stands is new and intimidating to her as well.

She brings the horse around and looks around her carefully, fighting to study the horse for a few seconds. She ‘shh’s’ it as she listens carefully to the sounds around her.

Satisfied that no one is around she spurs the horse into motion and we see her ride through a part of the rock face that was covered in some kind of hanging green vegetation. We discover that the plant is covering an opening to a series of tunnels.

Inside the tunnel system JULIA rides grabbing a torch off of the wall and lights it. The orange glow of the fire casts a creepy and mysterious light over her surroundings.

We follow her as she rides through the tunnel.

She breaks out into a glen. As the sun hits her eyes which have adjusted to the dark we see a flash of green (trees, grass) and a blinding white light (the sun in her eyes) before she slides off of the horse (we see the fall from her perspective).

As she lands she looks out and we see booted feet and feminine legs running towards her. People are speaking but the sound is muted, their appearance blurry as they crowd in around her.

They begin to pick her up and everything goes black.

INT. TENT - NIGHT

Firelight flickers, then goes black, then flickers again.

We are seeing JULIA awaken through her eyes.

Finally her eyes focus. She is in a room lit by fire coming from somewhere off to the side, it is dark outside. We pan back to see the room. Furs cover the bed she is lying on, and another lies on the bare earth by the side of the bed. The room is cozy, yet rustic. Weapons hang on the walls.

Suddenly a voice rings out.

HIPPOLYTA
You had me worried, Julia.


Julia looks to the side and we follow her gaze into the corner of the room. The voice has come from the shadows but soon a tall, impressive figure emerges from it.

She is dark haired, her eyes are steady and calm and there is an air of authority about her. She is HIPPOLYTA, and right away we know that she is someone important, that she is someone to be respected, feared and loved.

JULIA
Your …

HIPPOLYTA
(softly, hand raised in protest)
Easy, child.


Julia quiets watching as HIPPOLYTA walks towards her and then perches herself on the edge of the bed.

HIPPOLYTA
(quietly)
Say it then.

JULIA
(roughly, her throat is dry)
They come. I was riding when I saw smoke. There was only one column but I sought to check it and …


Julia begins to cough.

HIPPOLYTA reaches to side and a second later a sheep skin flask is brought into view. She brings the tip to JULIA’S mouth and begins to feed the contents to her.

JULIA looks up at HIPPOLYTA and the only word to describe her look is “adoring”.

As JULIA drinks HIPPOLYTA brushes some wild hair off of her face gently. JULIA has been cleaned up a little and we get our first good look at her features.

She is younger than we originally assumed, 17 or 18 years of age (HIPPOLYTA’S use of the word ‘child’ becomes clear now). She has dark hair, and brown/tanned/olive skin (race unimportant as long as appearance is exotic/visibly mixed, a mash of cultures or at least looks that way), and the eyes that stare up at HIPPOLYTA are a piercing blue/green (real or fake).

HIPPOLYTA
(gently)
Slowly.

JULIA
They … they have reached the Kura.


We do not know who they are other than the enemy, but ‘they’ is clearly enough of a descriptor for HIPPOLYTA.

JULIA is referring the lowland area of the CAUCASUS MOUNTAINS (a mountain system in Eurasia between the Black and the Caspian sea in the Caucasus region). They are very far away from home.

HIPPOLYTA
How many?

JULIA
At least three legions.


HIPPOLYTA looks off to the side. Her eyes are dark and troubled, haunted. It seems as if she was expecting the news but it had upset and angered her nonetheless.

HIPPOLYTA
Rest.


She looks back down at Julia and pets her cheek softly, fondly. There is history in the touch, a genuine fondness. What their relationship is exactly is unclear, but HIPPOLYTA clearly holds a great affection for the young woman.

Julia watches HIPPOLYTA as the elder woman stands. We then follow HIPPOLYTA (the camera tracking her) as she moves towards the door and strides out.

EXT. CAMP - NIGHT

HIPPOLYTA begins to walk purposefully and powerfully away from the tent she has just exited.

We see more of the village as she walks. It consists of huts and tents and not much more. It is inglorious, impermanent. We get the sense of a recent settlement, this place is not home, it is just where they happen to be at the moment and they are not happy about it.

A figure moves to her side from off camera and we follow them both. Around them we see people watching HIPPOLYTA and again we get the sense that she is a powerful figure.

DESMA
(breathless)
My Queen, what news? The women, they …

HIPPOLYTA
(clipped, she is not in the the mood)
Get, Aelia. Send her to me.


HIPPOLYTA increases her stride leaving DESMA behind her.

Others watch but do not speak, cowed in the wake of their Queen’s fury.

The camera stops on one figure, her look and demeanor are similar to HIPPOLYTA, but this one is younger and there is a disgruntled aura about her. She is ELENI, the Queen’s younger sister, and she is keen and trouble.

ELENI
And so it begins again.


ELENI’S gaze is hard, her tone sharp and icy as she stares after HIPPOLYTA. She then turns in a snit, her fur cape whipping around her, and strides away.

Note: Recent excavations have found artifacts and the remains of women warriors in Mongolia that are speculated to be the descendants of the Amazons of Greek myth. Taking this into consideration, my dream movie would explore a kind of last stand scenario for the Amazons who have been chased out of their original lands in Greece, increasingly north and east. They have run, but having been chased all the way into the wilds of the East they realize that those hunting them will not stop until they are eradicated, and that they can either stand and fight like warriors, or run and hide like animals and no longer deserve to call themselves Amazons. They stand and fight.

An amazon version of the battle of the thermopylae? I am so there. Just thinking about all the fabulous abs that would be showing off...not to mention possibly they would be going around with a breast uncovered like they're supposed to in Greek mythology...now I'm really going to a happy place :)
So who would be cast in the movie?
