So, I watched Ghost Rider last night (don't you judge me!) and I can suspend my disbelief like a mofo, I love sci-fi and comics so suspension of disbelief is not a problem for me. That being said, this movie just asked too damn much!

I mean, selling your soul to the devil, okay, fine, whatever.

Becoming a flaming (no, not like that) monster that makes people relive the pain of people they've hurt, okay, great, they deserve it.

Suspension of disbelief firmly in place.

But asking me to believe that Nicholas Cage and Eva Mendes are the same age is taking it too far! Watching Ghost Rider drive up buildings and explode the air with his chain of fire and I'm all "ooooh, fire, cool", but every time Johnny and Roxanne were on screen together I was like "I can't watch this shit!"

Also, Cage randomly sounding like an Elvis impersonator at various points of the film was extremely annoying.

*cries for the career of Wes Bentley*

wow, I'm suddenly glad I haven't seen that movie...
saw a review about the game for it though and the reviewers (the oh so funny Adam Sessler and the loverly but kinda insane in a good way Morgan Webb) said it's just as bad as the movie (especially since Nick cage didn't do any voice acting in the game)

^the review, vereh funny ^_^

There's absolutely no reason to see it unless you are in love with Eva Mendes, and even then you might just wanna rewatch 2 Fast 2 Furious (and yeah, that's how bad GR is that I just said you'd be better off watching 2 Fast 2 Furious).

said it's just as bad as the movie (especially since Nick cage didn't do any voice acting in the game)

Nic Cage not doing the voice for the game can only be a good thing. He's so horrible.

but still, it's a game based on a movie he's in
it's just so cheap not to have one of the stars - no matter how terrible
if it were based on the comics directly I wouldn't give a rats ass, but it's based on the movie *shrugs*

and I watch 2F2F for Devon Aoki mostly (and the first one for Jordana brewster ^_^)

I know, I just think this is one of the times when the company being cheap or the star being an ass, worked out BETTER for people. Because really, listening to his Elvis impersonation for 2 hrs. = annoying, but playing a game wear you have to listen to it for weeks or months would be almost unbearable.

and I watch 2F2F for Devon Aoki mostly (and the first one for Jordana brewster ^_^)

*sigh* I need more Jordana Brewster in my life. I'm bitter that Mr. and Mrs. Smith didn't get picked up because I was looking forward to seeing her on a regular basis.

yeah, it's irritating that she isn't in more things and IMDB doesn't show if she's got any project lined up *sigh*

and I see your point
lame elvis impersonations throughout an already poorly thrown together game would lead to mass killing sprees
but on the plus side, if I buy it and eventually go on a killing spree, I could probably blame that game and get a lighter sentence... hmm... *writes that down on "Not guilty pleas" list*

Ghostrider & Wes Bentley

Uhm. Guilty admission. I paid $9 to see that movie in the theatre. TWICE. I am such a dork. I'm a big Ghostrider fan (I used to work in a Comicbook shop). I loved it, though I have to agree with you on "asking me to believe that Nicholas Cage and Eva Mendes are the same age is taking it too far!" & "Cage randomly sounding like an Elvis impersonator at various points of the film was extremely annoying." Dead on!

As for Wes Bentley: I think he's a great actor with a lot of potential. Blackheart wasn't that bad on his career. It's not like they burried him in makeup like the REAL Blackheart should've been. He's just getting his feet wet. Doesn't want to be type-cast as the creepy quiet guy with a video camera.

I own BloodRayne so I can cast no stones. I love comic movies as well, and have paid good money to see some completely horrible films, so I feel ya on this one.

I think he's a great actor with a lot of potential.

I think Bentley is great too, which is why I was sad when he disappeared for a few years there. I'm glad to see he's working again, and he as good a job with Blackheart as was humanly possible, but I look forward to seeing him in something that doesn't make me embarrassed for him, lol. Although if Ben Kingsley can be in the aforementioned BloodRayne then I suppose Wes doesn't have anything to worry about ;)

i hope you realize that your first mistake was watching *anything* with nic cage in it...dude, he sucks harder than richard simmons at a boy scout jamboree...

lol, that's so horrible *grin*

And yes I know, in fact he's the reason that I didn't see it in theatres, because I'll go see any comic book movie in theatres. I only watched it cause I was able to get a copy of it for $2, and I want about $1.90 of that back now.

ah, you live and you learn...i'm so torn about the "golden compass" because it's right up my alley but i swore a vlood oath never to watch nicole kidman, nic cage, russell crowe or tom cruise ever in life...and i've been pretty good with that so far...

You know Tom and Nicole were perfect together in that they both have this insidious talent to star in movies I want to see even though I kind of loath them both (him more so however).

Like Nicole had to go in be in "The Invasion" which I want to see, and now "The Golden Compass" as well, though I must admit I think she'll do an admirable job of Mrs. Coulter though Catherine Zeta-Jones would have been more accurate with the literary description and much, much ... much hotter. Also, Eva Green is in "The Golden Compass" which means I must see it, because I'm Eva's bitch (I saw "Kingdom of Heaven" for that woman, and she fucking owes me for that shit!)

But yeah, Tom Cruise, Nic Cage and Russell Crowe all bother the hell out of me. I like "Gladiator" in spite of Crowe (*sigh* Connie Nielson *sigh* Joaquin Phoenix).

So, I'm gonna go ahead and recommend "The Golden Compass" but support your ban fully in every other respect :D

I cannot stand Nicholas Cage, he has the acting talent of a gerbil. Unless he suffers from Multiple Personality Disorder, and it was actually his other self in Leaving Las Vegas (I've not seen it), I can only assume he bribed the judges for the Oscar.

I haven't seen Leaving Las Vegas, that movie and Jerry Maguire were like two that I decided a long time ago to boycott for life and I don't regret the decision at all. I'm sure he sucked in it anyway and just got the Oscar cause he sucked in a different way than he usually does.

Horrible, horrible actor. I was cringing at his delivery of the lines, and in movies like that I should be cringing at the dialogue while giving credit to the actors for delivering it with a straight face (like Sam Elliot, I really liked Sam Elliot in this movie. However, it made me think mostly about how I'll like to see him playing virtually the same character even more in "The Golden Compass" which likely WON'T suck)

lol Same here. I only watched GR because duh, Eva and because the story. i wanted to give it a chance at the movie because the plot looked cool (i don't know anything about the comic I have to say)

Yeah, Eva Mendes in a comic book movie was my main draw as well. And, well I got to see Eva Mendes in a comic book movie and that's about the only good thing I can say about this film ;) Though I have to admit if they'd cast someone else in the role of Johnny it probably would have been a decent guilty pleasure film

Imagining Nicolas Cage as a Elvis impersonator is for some reason, extremely creepy. I'm not sure why that is.

It's even creepier seeing it. Hell, just thinking about or looking at Nic Cage is general is creepy. He actually took his top off in the movie, and I threw up a little in my mouth. *shudder* He's so horrible in every respect

I can't actually remember the last time I watched a movie with him in it...

It may have been The Rock.

Oh, you think Nic Cage and Eva Mendes being the same age suspends ones disbelief, try watching Jessica Biel falling in love with 'psychic who sounds an awful lot like a bad Elvis impersonator' Nic Cage in Next. Add in the fact that he gets the girl by using his psychic powers, ie, he can see two minutes into the future, so he keeps using bad pickup lines until he finds the words she wants to hear, and there's this whole creepy, manipulative vibe.

I just want to know why Hollywood keeps thinking Nic Cage is a bankable action star? It's like 'people, his *best* performance in the last decade was as Fu Manchu in the 'Werewolf Women of the SS' trailer in Grindhouse!!'.

I couldn't even sit through trailers of NEXT because the idea of Jessica Biel kissing that thing made my skin crawl sooo much. Especially since he looked even crapper than usual in the trailer for that movie. I know it's like saying shit stinks MORE, but it's true.

Great, because Cage and Biel wasn't creepy enough, they had to add in creepy manipulation. Dude, I am so glad I didn't see this movie. Just thinking about it is scaring me.

I know! The guy looks like a date rapist, sounds like Elvis, and delivers about one line a minute in the SAME voice. I have trouble believing that Nic Cage could save money by switching to Geico let alone that he could save the world.

*sigh* Hollywood sucks.

I must admit, I went with my friend to go see this movie in the theater. Yes, I knew it had Cage in it, and that he has the delivery of a bar of soap, but I went with my friend anyway. I've stopped having high expectations when it comes to comic-to-movie adaptations. It just doesn't have a good track record and sticking Cage in the lead role..*shudders*, well, that only makes things worse.

But, my friend and I are both big comic book fans, and we still managed to find it more funny, than disapointing. My friend and I were in the back of the theater cracking jokes like Statler and Waldorf. I can't help but laugh every time Cage delivers a line that's not emotionally on par with the scene. It kinda makes my brain go a little numb there for a minute. If they'd kept the teenage 'Johnny' who was in the begining of the film, it would have turned out a lot better.

Welll.....i liked the movie, my issues with blackheart aside(is it too much to ask for him to somewhat resemble the character from the comic). It's not that hard to believe, in the comic the characters were a few years apart in age, can't remember exactly. In the film they were supposedly a few years apart as well. In real life they are 10years apart, tho cage makes it seem like 15 years or so. Really i try not to compare it to the comics, cause it usually just upsets me lol. I still say that cage peaked at moonstruck then went downhill from there.
