I like Monica (is "I learned it on TV" the new "I know Kung Fu"? It is for me!). Also, was it just me or was she channeling S1 Peter with all of her doe eyed "I'm meant for something more than this" talk?
Micah looks older. The hug was sweet, but what was with the close up of his hand on her back? Was it meaningful, or just another example of Heroes being creepy with family dynamics?
West is still creepy even when he's not actively being an ass (was creepy!West the one responsible for those wind chimes jingling, or was it the Haitian?)
Parkman's dad is an ass too. Niiiiice.
Angela stepping up to the plate for the episodes inappropriate relative chemistry! Niiiice.

Um, yeah ... still mostly bored. Monica was like the only thing that genuinely kept my attention this episode. Although I do like that they've gone back to the murder mystery (and that we got to see Nathan!) and that we're getting some info on Freddy!Parkman and learning a bit more about the Golden Age heroes.
Next week ... the return of Niki (let's hope she gets to do more than walk dramatically), Veronica Mars, Peter's Lucky Charms, and Journeyman Tokyo Drift.

*wipes brow* Good. Now as long as they manage to make her a kickass dreamer, instead of an emo!dreamer I'll be all on board with that. Actually I really liked Monica and I think Dana Davis is a fantastic actress, so I'm really hoping they don't screw up the character.

*sigh* I know, I have how they have to ration characters. I feel like I'm never gonna get an episode with ALL of favorites in it (and honestly, some have gotten their fair shake *I'm looking at YOU Claire and West) and should give the others a chance!

I think Niki should go kill West. And unless they do something with Maya/Alejandro (and QUICK!), Sylar should eat their brains. Or put them in little tiny jars. Whatever he does with them.
Really, the only new character I like is Monica. If they'd give Maya/Alejandro a good storyline, I feel like I could like them. KBell's character seems like it has badass potential, but we'll see. I think she and Niki should team up, just so there's an excuse to have two girls on screen at the same time. You know HRG wouldn't let Claire run off and do it.

Simon and Monty had more screen time in this ep than Niki's had all of season 2!

I was really hoping this year would be more of an ensemble with them working together after they had all gathered in the same place last year, and now we're back to the season 1 formula of the separate story lines. But I've been there and I'm bored. Ali has talked in interviews about actually getting to work with the other cast members though, so I'm hoping Niki being with the company will get her involved with the other characters. Still, Peter in "Ireland", Hiro in FEUDAL Japan, Claire in L.A. ... it's like could you get them farther away from each other *huge SIGH*
Really, the only new character I like is Monica. If they'd give Maya/Alejandro a good storyline, I feel like I could like them.
Monica rocks. Love her. Maya I was really excited about (mostly cause I LUST after Dania Ramirez) but the character has been disappointing so far. I think Maya had potential though (Alejandro is more dead weight I think it's likely he'll die). I liked her using her powers for personal gain last week, and her bonding with Sylar this week could led to interesting things. She NEEDS TO STOP CRYING though.
I think she and Niki should team up, just so there's an excuse to have two girls on screen at the same time.

I have an insane personal grudge against that name. I used to know this boy who would act like he was picking his nose and then try to touch you and his twin sister was Lisa and I've hated it ever since.

Also, there is no denying that GG may have the best dressed cast on TV right now, but I am loving Sarah's clothes on Chuck. Particularly their first date outfit which was all kinds of edgy. ANd then the scene out in the desert where she was investigating the car bomb on Zarnow and she had on that jacket and the sweater and tennys and I was like, that is the most adorable/casual outfit ever. I kind of heart her.

Well, in it's defense it didn't start to get super awesome until around episode 5 or 6 last year. Then after that it was really good. Although, this year getting off to a slow start as well is using up my good will. If I don't love next weeks episode, I'm gonna ... well, I'll keep watching but I'm going to get bitter!

Well, when it's not being boring I actually like the show and the other characters. Ali isn't the only reason I watch. I just want her on screen more, and for everyone else's story lines to stop sucking so much.

But agree with you about the boring thing. It's really a pity because the show is one of my favs.
Last season got off to a slow start too, so I'm hoping that's what the deal is this season and with next weeks episode they'll start to kick things up. I mean, this episode was marginally better than the ones that came before it, so hopefully next week will actually be good instead of slightly less sucky.
And Ali one of the main things why I starting watching on the first place!

i could have sworn that i saw his hand glowing when he was touching her back and it seemed like he kinda "activated" her powers or something, but that didn't make sense, since she had already made the tomato flower earlier unless she went from having mere just an eidetic memory to being able to actually "download" information which would kinda make sense of what micah did...either way, i think her powers are kinda cool...
i had a thought too...i mean, do we know for sure if DL is dead, because one would think that being about to "phase" through matter would come in handy if you're killing people on the DL...*no pun intended*...

Date: 2007-10-16 08:43 pm (UTC)This episode sucked less than the ones that came before it, and there were some parts of the episode that I liked (Maya, Alejandro and Sylar's Excellent Adventure, Nathan and Angela, pretty much everything with Monica) but overall I can't really say that it was a GOOD episode. It was better though. And I totally agree with you about last year starting off slow as well, so I'm hoping this year is a slow burn too and that it's about to heat up. Because really, I think it's a bit much to bore your audience almost to tears for like 6 episodes before it gets good. If next week doesn't kick ass, I might get genuinely pissed at the show.

Yeah, that's true. I get a kick out of Molly's two Dads (although Parkman is such a douchebag that he ruins the awesomeness whenever he speaks). I also enjoyed seeing Monica have a friend who was a girl. I don't think we've seen a female character with a friend since Texas Tina went away (*I miss you Texas Tina*) Oh wait, laughs! I said that like there were more than two semi (in Niki's case anyway)important females on the show.

She must have always been able to download the information though because carving the flower tomato thing took skill just like the twirling kick thing, it was just a different skill set. At first I was wondering if there was some sort of mechanical component to her power/body that Micah was scanning/reading, but I can't really see that being the case. *shrugs* I was probably just bad editing. In any case, I think her power is cool too, and I like the character (and LOVE the actress *hugs Dana Davis*)

Because he looked very much alive at the end of last season, and we haven't seen a body and didn't see an onscreen death, I think it's pretty likely he IS still alive.

You think he's the mystery killer? We know he's capable of it (hello Linderman's braaaaaains!), but can he actually become invisible. We saw that Angela was actually fighting with air, which seems out of DL's range. Also, Angela seemed to know EXACTLY what she was up against.
I do think that he's on the DL *nice one* somewhere though. If Niki's in on it and told Micah he was dead though, that's some Eleanor Waldorf still crap parenting right there.

I hated West slightly less this episode. Slightly. Although I can't quite get past his snooping and asshat behavior. Being nice once he's gotten what he wanted doesn't require much character. And because of his sneaking I still he was the one that set off the wind chimes. Also, painting 8 makes me suspect he'll have something to do with trying to hurt HRG, and I like HRG.
