Gossip Girl 1x16 - All About My Brother
May. 5th, 2008 09:11 pmOMG! That end scene was perfection! Seriously, concerned Blair is the cutest, most adorable, most amazing thing ever. Blair is the best boyfriend ever (Serena has officially lost her title for the moment. And I can tell you the exact moment the sash and tiara fell off, right after she ditched Blair again in the face of Blair's "Don't go to France, I'll be there for you" reminder).
Seriously, it's ridiculous how much I love this show.
Jenny is SO unlikeable. There were so many times during this episode that I wanted to smack her upside the head. I mean, intellectually I think I kind of sympathized with her a bit, but emotionally I just dislike her so much. Every time Jenny had one of her bitchy lines, all I could think was if Blair said that I would think it was the greatest thing ever, but when it's Jenny I just want to dump yogurt on her head. TPTB were really, really lucky to get Leighton (because she makes bitch so very, very good).
Speaking of Leighton in all her bitchy glory, I loved the final showdown at Asher's party. When Blair gets her bitch on, it's like everything is right with the world. Especially when she manages to be Queen B, and defend a van der Woodsen at the same time. Sure it was Eric, instead of her girlfriend, but I like the Blair/Eric pseudo-sibling thing. Also, Leighton looked absolutely amazing in that scene.
In addition, I love that Nelly Yuki is now part of Blair's Girl Gang (Is must be so happy to have a Kati replacement, though I doubt Nellie is as fun to shop with). I just really love saying Nelly Yuki (always the whole name, just like Blair). Seriously, once Blair turns her doe-eyes on you it is impossible to resist her pull.
No Chuck makes me sad :(
No Nate makes me happy.
Lily/Rufus makes me very happy. It was nice to see the return of Rufus/Lily. Rutherford and Settle have so much chemistry together (and Settle was having a really good hair episode. Really, Rufus was particularly DILF-y tonight). The scene with the wedding dress fitting made me 'aw' and pat my heart. And the calls to each other over their parental woes made me grin stupidly. It did crack me up that Rufus went to Lily of all people for parenting advice though. I mean, I love me some Lily, and bless her heart she does try, but really.
I knew all about Asher being an undercover gay, so the real revelation was that he was an undercover-douche-bag. Seriously, I never liked the guy, he seemed way to good to be true, but his whole "Did you really think someone like me, would date someone like you?" speech made me want to kick him in the nut-sack. ERIC YOU CAN DO SO MUCH BETTER HE DOESN'T DESERVE YOU! (which I'm glad Eric figured out)
If I wasn't totally convinced that sometime before the end of the season we're going to see Georgina plant on Serena, I would really, really hate her. Again, she's with the not-charming bitchy that I don't love so much. Though, her menace and crazy do make her much more tolerable than Jenny. I give props to Trachtenberg for making Georgina seem like a total sex offender though. She's as smarmy as Chuck from the pilot episode. Every time she is on screen with Serena I just fear for Serena's physical safety. Georgina is such a sexual predator. [small voice]I'm still looking forward to her making out with Serena one episode though.
I loved Jenny calling Dan out on his judginess. And that is the only time I will use 'love' and 'Jenny' in the same sentence unless that sentence is "I would love for Jenny to DIAF!"
Leighton fucking Meester! (I just needed to say that because ... well, because. Who doesn't feel like exclaiming Leighton fucking Meester every now and then?)
And the end of course, was sogay heartbreaking. If I had Blair's open arms to run to every time I was upset, I would never leave them. Blair would be all "Sweetie, what's wrong?" and I'd be like "M-m-my nail broke" and collapse into her arms. As far as I'm concerned after the episode faded to black, Blair wrapped Serena in a hug and gently led her up to her room, undressed her and got her situated on the bed, and then held her all not in a complete "best boyfriend ever" way.
As for Serena's "I killed someone", I kind of thought that's what it would be, especially after last week, but still ... DAMN. It'll be interesting to see what the situation around it is, because I mean I know she's all remorseful and everything, but it's a ballsy to have your led character have killed someone (unless of course your show is called DEXTER).
Looking forward to next week, and the return is drunken, wild girl Serena (Georgie will be so happy). Although I don't know who the writers are trying to fool with random guy, if Serena was going to have "I need to forget about how shitty the world is and lose myself in you" sex, we all know that it would be with Blair. And if she was going to have dirty, drunken, "I'm so fucked up right now I don't know what I'm doing sex" we all know that Georgina would be standing in front of her grinning, willing to drag her to the nearest washroom stall/backseat of a taxi/alleyway/semi-private booth.

All is all, that scene makes Blair the best boyfriend ever. Seriously, she is the romanticest romantic ever.
If Serena didn't drop the "M" bomb afterwards, it would have been a Waldsen dream come true.

Date: 2008-05-06 03:37 pm (UTC)anywaaaaaay...i actually hoped eric and asher would really kiss..I thought that scene was kind of clumsy and the writers didn't have the guts to actually show the kiss..which makes me wonder, if there will be a Georgina/Serena kiss, will it be as lame as that? or as lame as Marissa and Alex's kiss from the O.C.?
