True Blood - 1x10 - I Don't Wanna Know
Nov. 11th, 2008 07:46 amKeep on wearing those sunglasses at night Pam! Fierce bish!
Michelle Forbes! Naked! ... with a pig WTF? Um, yeah, I don't know what that last part was about but Forbes looked sexy as shit, and that smirk on her face after the car crashed made me think that she will stir things up in Bon Temps in a truly delicious way.
My heart aches for Tara. Jeebus, man. This girl cannot catch a break. First heartache this episode, and then humiliation upon humiliation. The prom dress and make up made me cringe so much, and then her throwing herself at Sam. CRINGE. *hugs Tara ... dodges fist flying at my face*
How much do I love Layfayette? A lot, that's how much. First him acting out the movie on his TV, and then him pushing the shit out of Jason Stackhouse and verbal kicking the crap out of him! Perfect! God, someone needed to hand Jason his ass and I'm so glad that it was Lafayette.
I don't care how hot Lizzy Caplan is, Amy needs to die ... horribly. Her speech about her lecturing Eddie on morality as she tortured him was terrifying. That bitch is crazy as shit, and she doesn't give a shit, she doesn't even know it. She is a twisted, narcissitic fuck and will do ANYTHING to serve her own needs.
Not enough PAM! *cries* My Pammy didn't even get a speaking line, she just stood around looking all glamorous and hot and shit (which is nice), but it needed MOAR Pam.
Also, don't front, you all were turned on by Pam's fangs at the end too, I know you were. Mm, bite me Vampire!Pam, bite me!
Bill was actually quite terrifying at the end there. It'll be interesting to see what happens to Jessica next week (and to find out the real reason she was seleceted, because I doubt that it was really random. The Evangelical mention had to mean something).
The vampire court itself was scary was fuck too. I didn't expect larger vampire society to be so dark and cruel. I'm not sure I'm understanding the metaphor of the show any more, because if vampire's are supposed to be a stand in for disenfranchised groups, minorities, and gays etc., then there's a really fucked up message going on, because the majority of vampires (except for Bill and the pretty vampire CNN lady) all seem to be egomanical, murderous, condescending douche-bags. Seriously, like everything muttered by the Magistar was horrific. AB, MAKE METAPHOR CLEARER PLEASE.

Date: 2008-11-12 07:14 am (UTC)Heh, yeah, I think I may have squealed when they showed her face.. but not like a pig!
My heart aches for Tara. Jeebus, man. This girl cannot catch a break.
I mean, you *knew* it was going to end badly but I always figured it'd be because Mom went back on the bottle (which I'm sure is going to happen eventually) but, Jeebus, it was just one kick to the gut after the other for that poor girl.
God, someone needed to hand Jason his ass and I'm so glad that it was Lafayette.
And for once it looked like what Lafayette might have actually stuck. Sadly, I've discovered the person on the writing staff with a serious boner for Jason is none other than Mr. Six Feet Under himself. I think this ep struck the right balance of Jason without going overboard like the past few weeks but.. still, I could do with a little less of him.
Bill was actually quite terrifying at the end there.
As intrigued as I was by the vampire courts had they not cutaway to Bill I wouldn't have missed him during this ep.. at all.
Also, after this episode I'm beginning to think Anna Paquin was miscast as Sookie. I don't know, I wanna say the writing isn't doing her any favors but compared to the performances of the supporting cast (Hell I might hate the character but I think the guy playing Jason is doing a great job), I'm not finding the character as compelling as I think I'm supposed to. Let alone a character who's shoulders are supposed to carry the entire show. Heh, she's like the Meredith Grey of vampires!
Oh, any bets on if we'll see Pam and Michelle Forbes sharing screen time?

Date: 2008-11-13 01:05 pm (UTC)lol! I kind of did a little clap. And then I squeed when she smirked. I love Michelle Forbes, I can't wait for her to have dialogue (and hopefully screen time with Pam)

Word. In fact, when Tara rushed home and mom was sleeping on the couch, I thought that she had gone back to the bottle. Tara's everything is just heartbreaking right now. I need things to start to get better for her. She's got like no light at the moment.
Sadly, I've discovered the person on the writing staff with a serious boner for Jason is none other than Mr. Six Feet Under himself.
I figured as much. Unfortunately, this means we're stuck with lots of Jason for the long haul.

This.

Me too. I was giving her the benefit of the doubt at the beginning, but I definitely feel this way too. Sookie comes off too whiny, spastic teenager the way Paquin plays her. I mean, the writing isn't really bad, and I think another, slightly more mature actress could deliver these lines without making you want to smack Sookie upside the head. Even the "Shut the fuck up" line, which should have been awesome, was just OKAY because of the delivery.
but compared to the performances of the supporting cast (Hell I might hate the character but I think the guy playing Jason is doing a great job), I'm not finding the character as compelling as I think I'm supposed to.
Word. Everyone else has deepened their characters and given them layers, and made them feel REAL, but Sookie's just there. Everyone else is always more interesting then her when they're on screen with her.
any bets on if we'll see Pam and Michelle Forbes sharing screen time?
I certainly hope so! I don't know for sure, but I don't want to believe in a world cruel enough to keep those two characters separated. I mean, if Bauer managed to generate some heat with Paquin, then the Bauer/Forbes pairing will make my computer screen explode!
