OMG, Dushku can act!
Feb. 14th, 2009 12:33 amDon't get offended, as smoking hot as she is, you know you were kinda wondering if she could really act too! I know you saw Tru Calling and doubted, just as I did!
And now for some ramblings on The Sarah Connor Chronicles new episode ...
1. Stupid ass VCR cut off the first couple minutes of the show *sobs* I'm gonna have to download it now, cause I was like "whaaa ... where'd Kyle come from?" and I realized I probably missed something pretty important!
2. One thing I love about this show is that females are allowed to interact. I really liked Sarah's interactions with Felicia. And on a more pervy note, I really liked Riley and Jessie interacting again, but only because Riley's girl!crush presented itself again. Jessie changing her bandage, while Riley begged to be able to stay with herin bed for just an hour, was hot. Jessie is such a sexual predator sex goddess.
3. Red Delicious is a scary mofo. Seriously, watching her mo people down was so pretty, and badass, and scary as hell.
4. John Henry, you are creeping me out. I'm totally fascinated by you, and your new Daddy Ellison, so just keep up the good work.
5. Minimal John! Yay! ... ... ... minimal Cameron. NAY!
6. TRIP! ... you bastard! I was so happy to see Connor Trinneer being all southern and dapper and shit, and then he's a crazy ass abusive husband. Sorry, Trip, but in this I'm glad your ass got shot!
7. Lena is so good. She's so good. She's got chops that one, and she got to show them this episode.
I really like this show so much. Until Dollhouse came along, SCC was the only show I made a point to watch life. Oh, I hope, I hope, I hope, it gets picked up for another season. Losing this one is gonna hurt so bad.
Alright, I is tired now so I'm going to bed ...
I was very pleased with the pilot episode. It didn't BLOW my mind, but it was good and after the second act I was really getting into things. I'm definitely stoked for the next episode, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to be in love with the show by the end of last week.
Things I Liked:
1. As previously mentioned, Dushku can act! Who knew? After the opening sequence I was expecting to be in for some bad acting, but she was good. I actually really liked her as Eleanor Penn (even though she looked about twelve in those glasses), and all of the different incarnations we saw of Caroline and Echo were different.
I was also pleasantly surprised by the equally pretty Tahmoh Penikett. Like we all know that Helo is a sexy mofo, but Helo is somewhat of a wooden Adonis, which left me wondering if Tahmoh could actually act. He can. HUZZAH!
2. Olivia Williams is the shit. Seriously. Adelle is so evil and smexy. I want her to do naughty things to me.
3.FRED! Amy Acker! Didn't see too much Claire, but I liked what I did see. I'm intrigued by her, and Amy looked ravishing. I know Clair is scared, but I didn't actually see the scars, only movie star good looks (thought that was possibly because I watched on a comically small television set that University students would laugh at) Also, I thought it was sexy when she talked about protecting Echo (before she went all Rachel Morgan and was like "No homo!" when Echo tried to touch her ... oh, okay. I know she's just sensitive about her scars and probably traumatized by how she got them and was reacting to that, not internalized homophobia. I just really like dropping a 'no homo' every now and then. It makes me giggle)
4. Really like Boyd. That's not surprising though, I like Harry Lennox ... always.
5. Sierra was hot as fuck as a commando at the end there. Damn. Dichen looks kind of funny in pictures, but whatever the Dollhouse makeup department is doing, they're doing it well because girlfrien looked smoking hot! I also enjoyed Echo and Sierra's little exchange in the shower! I can't wait for when their future BFF status is realized. There'll be so much les!yay.
6. Guy at the end = Alpha, the name from Adelle's file? What do you think?
7. Topher DNW (though I do approve in his choice of women)
8. Echo's white dancing dress. It gets a point to itself because, goddammit it earned it!!! Ho-ly.
So yeah, liked the pilot and I'm not only in for next week, but anxiously awaiting it!
Oooh, promo for next week! Matt Keeslar!! Yay! *misses The Middleman like whoa*

Date: 2009-02-14 07:37 am (UTC)Heh. I thought she was strong for the most part but there were a couple bits where she was shaky. I'm in it for the long haul because, honestly, this is the first time in a *long* time I sat down and watched three hours of network tv in a row (TSCC, Dollhouse and BSG).
I was a bit iffy about the show beforehand because of the whole 'Dollhouse as high-end brothel with the added bonus of mind control' angle. So I was pleasantly surprised when the Dollhouse was presented so.. creepily. That and the fact that we learned some of the, uh, 'dolls' were taken by force and, I'm pretty certain, what Echo signed up for was nothing close to the truth.
I thought the first half was a bit too slow and (as someone else elsewhere put it) felt too much like Whedon imitating JJ Abrams. Although I'm sure that has more to do with FOX's notorious interfering than anything.. I hope.
re: Sarah Connor
Once again, we get another episode where a complete stranger meets Sarah and is all 'sure, you have a gun in my face but I'll totally do whatever it is you want me to'.
One thing I love about this show is that females are allowed to interact.
Heh, I loved the shot where Sarah's lying on the bed and Felicia's digging the bullet from Sarah's leg and, for a second, it totally looks like Felicia's putting her fingers in a quite different hole!
Oh, and I call complete bullshit on Felicia just cutting Sarah's pants. Dammit Felicia, when examining Sarah's thigh, the first response isn't 'I need to cut a larger hole' but 'you need to take off your pants'!
And on a more pervy note, I really liked Riley and Jessie interacting again, but only because Riley's girl!crush presented itself again.
Ha! Then there was Riley implying she cut herself to get closer to John. And Jessie's all 'really? that's kinda devious. Devious makes me hot, let me play Doctor'.
Red Delicious is a scary mofo.
I think I may have squealed a little bit.. okay, maybe a LOT!

Date: 2009-02-14 06:49 pm (UTC)Totes. That opening scene with Olivia Williams was really shaky, and I was getting scared, but she improved. Dushku's not a brilliant actress, she's just not as terrible as I feared, lol.

Word. I haven't see BSG yet, but TSCC and Dollhouse is the first time that I have recorded something in a long time, because I simply HAD to watch.
So I was pleasantly surprised when the Dollhouse was presented so.. creepily.
Yeah, I like this too. That they want us to be weary and creeped out by these people. Topher is especially creepy.
That and the fact that we learned some of the, uh, 'dolls' were taken by force and, I'm pretty certain, what Echo signed up for was nothing close to the truth.
Oh yeah, coercion and lies. Adelle is a scary mofo. I'm really looking forward to slowly learning more about all of the characters and the background information on how the Dollhouse works and how it came into being.

No one can resist the animal magnetism of Sarah Connor. No one!

*goes back to watch tape*
Heh! *giggle*

This! Such a wasted opportunity to showcase Lena in her skivvies (with another woman touching her). Damn you, FOX! Damn you!
And Jessie's all 'really? that's kinda devious. Devious makes me hot, let me play Doctor'.
lol, the fact that deviousness turns her on makes me like Jessie all the more. The fact that Riley seemed to know that that would turn Jessie on was also awesome. Seriously, I'm beginning to love these two together. Riley's scenes should be like 70% with Jessie and 30% with John. If that happpened, I would probably love both of them loads more.
I think I may have squealed a little bit.. okay, maybe a LOT!
As it should be!

Date: 2009-02-14 10:58 pm (UTC)Yeah, I thought the first half-hour was a bit clunky. I can think of a dozen ways it could have been better, like flashing back to the 'the thing' Echo did that was so horrible as opposed to 'Echo's last night of free will' that went on for *way* too long and didn't really add anything to the plot, but I'm going to go with not analyzing this show too much for the sake of my sanity.
I think my biggest problem with the premiere is the 'you only get one chance to make a first impression' since networks are way too quick with the cancellation axe. And Joss creates a show where people are programmed to be *anything* and, for the first episode, Echo's programmed to be a 'hostage negotiator'? The glasses and power suit was cute but we're not tuning in to watch Eliza Dushku play dressup.. more guns and ass kicking please!
Oh yeah, coercion and lies. Adelle is a scary mofo.
Yes, who totally has Topher program her some sex-bots for erotic massages and tongue baths. You know she's someone who has to taste the goods before her clients do for.. quality control!
Riley's scenes should be like 70% with Jessie and 30% with John.
Heh. Her character's definitely taken a turn for the better since we found out she was a plant from the future. All I want to know is WHEN do we get some Jessie/Sarah or Jessie/Cam interaction? Is it because Derek knows the moment he introduces Jessie to Sarah he can kiss getting laid EVER AGAIN goodbye?
