Alice in Wonderland

I saw Alice in Wonderland in beautiful IMAX 3-D last night.  It was a fun little adventure and visually really stunning. 

Helena Bonham Carter is the official HBIC of the film.  She really does steal the show.  Not only did I find the Queen of Heart hilarious, I also really sympathized for her.  Even with that planet sized cranium and Lady Gaga lipstick Helena managed to infuse the Queen with a lot of humanity.  I felt like if someone had just given her and her huge head more hugs as a child that all of Wonderland's Underland's problems could have been avoided.

Anne Hathaway was HBIC in training.  I was skeptical about the White Queen based on the few glimpses of her we got in the trailer, but she ended up being my second favorite character after the Queen of Hearts.  She was also in a lot more of the movie than I thought she would be which was nice.  Kudos to Anne for the way she made the White Queen move so delicately, but also managed to make her creepy as hell and intimidating at certain points.  I also have to say, that was not expecting The White Queen and Alice to be so femslashy together.  I loved the White Queen wanting Alice to be her champion and then dressing her up in flashy pants suits and sparkling armor.  And the two of them exchanged some looks that were just, 'oh get a room you two!'

Mia Wasikowska did a really good job as Alice too.  For the most part her role was a lot less flashy than the other roles in the movie, but when Alice decided to get her Muchness on, Mia was really able to step up and became quite engaging.  Plus, she was very good at making eyes at Anne Hathaway.

Overall, it was a really enjoyable movie.

TBH though, one of the best things about watching Alice in Wonderland was  ...

The TRON LEGACY 3D TRAILER!

That movie looks sick as hell!  Honestly, I didn't even really love the first TRON and I was fangirling like crazy.  And ladies!  LADIES YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE!  You get your first look at Olivia Wilde in the movie, and she is glorious.  Seriously, it's like think of how hot Olivia Wilde usually is, and then like triple it.  She's lying coquettishly on a couch people.  That image is seared into my mind.  I cannot believe that this movie does not come out until December.  The wait makes me want to cry.

I saw it last week (including Tron trailer), and HBC was awesome. hilarious, evil, and still she had my sympathies - I have to admit that me being the black sheep of the family with a wonderboy as a brother understood her cry for acceptance and recognition. thank God at least I look better than my brother.
anyway, AH was quite creepy and I am glad I wasn't the only one who thought so.
and the whole thing was quite femmeslashy on top (srsly, the knight thing?).

Hahaha, I love that your favorite part of the movie was the trailer...

HBC rocked my socks off. I'm in love with her first scene, because the poem they based it off of is my favorite nursery rhyme EVER. You're totally right about her making the character sympathetic- I felt so bad for her when she found out everyone was lying to her! "You're right...it is better to be feared than loved." You could pretty much see her heart hardening. And the speech impediment was endearing..."I'm the eldest! It's my cwown!"

Anne Hathaway was totally rocking the "Creepy Aunt" vibe. Especially when they were in the kitchen. The way she dodged the Hare's flying concoctions was epic :)

I saw Alice in 3D Saturday with some friends and, gawd, it was amazing! I still can't get it out of my head. I so wanna see it again.

And I was totally digging the femslashy vibe I was getting from Alice & the White Queen. I thought Anne played the character quite beautifully, and now I officially have a crush on her. lol.

Oh did you see that apparently Resident Evil: Afterlife is coming out on September 10 of this year(and apparently in 3d as well)?

On her Twitter feed earlier this evening, actress Milla Jovovich announced that the first trailer for the fourth installment of the "Resident Evil" franchise, "Resident Evil: Afterlife", will be premiering at the end of April in front of New Line's remake of "A Nightmare On Elm Street". The first 3D installment of the action-horror series is scheduled for September 10.

I was a little hesitant about seeing Alice In Wonderland because of all the mixed reviews, but I trust your opinion and I'm going to see it soon. :)
Also, this talk about chemistry between Alice and the White Queen has piqued my interest. :P I'm very interested in seeing that, haha.

I blushed and giggled like a schoolgirl at the part where the Red Queen says that the White Queen can make anyone fall in love with her, including men, women and furniture. Les!yay + Anne Hathaway = a very happy me!

Also, for the purposes of possible fic, the White Queen's real name is Mirana. I imagine typing out 'the White Queen' over and over might get awkward. :)

I agree with everything you said. I totally thought that Alice and the White Queen were totally femslashy too, but I wasn't sure if I just wanted it to be there lol.

Helena is my favorite actress of all time, I've seen nearly all her films haha. She is so versatile, and I think one of the best character actresses out there right now. I srsly want some Helena gifs. but I can't seem to find any.

That potion scene when Alice's eyes followed the queen every move.. (may be out of fear of what she would use in the potion, but hey!) that set my femslashy bone to overdrive.
