Rizzoli & Isles - 1x05 - Jane and Maura's Big Fancy Gay Date

I think the episode is actually called "Money for Nothing", but the promotional stills tell another story.  It is clearly Jane and Maura's Big Fancy Gay Date.

Visuals never lie.

Once they arrive at the fancy party however, Maura finds herself more-a than entertained (hey, it's no worse than Maura Bore-a, okay!)

And who can blame her really.  Especially when Jane goes all field-hockey attacker in her sexy little dress.

(seriously, is there a gayer way to hold a clutch purse?  That combined with the hand on the hip does nothing to obscure Jane's natural Butchy McFabulous-ness)

Jane, the thought of having to sit through Maura flirting with Zack Morris makes me feel the same way.

Smooth, Maura.  Game recognize game sista, and you lookin' mighty familiar!

Makes you wonder just what Jane has in that clutch purse, doesn't it? *wink*

Here's hoping. The more femslash subtext there is, the more obligatory attempt at heterosexual romance there is. I hope it's not as gag-inducing as Jane's face seems to imply.

But the truth is that Maura really reads as bisexual to me. It's Jane who feels like a straight-up lesbian. Maybe that's just me.

Yeah, with this show that's definitely a trade off we have to make. I wish it weren't so, but ...

I hope it's not as gag-inducing as Jane's face seems to imply.

lol! I'm hoping that Jane's distress over her fancy foo foo dinner will end the 'flirting' between Maura and Zack Morris before it can get too painful. And that then we'll get a cute subtexty scene of Maura telling Jane all about her dinner while Jane continues to make faces, and then Maura finally just smiles at her indulgently and passes her the bread basket.

But the truth is that Maura really reads as bisexual to me. It's Jane who feels like a straight-up lesbian. Maybe that's just me.

That's actually how it comes across to be as well. Jane is just so Butch McFabulous that I can't buy any of the obligatory attempts at heterosexual romance with her. Maura's flirting scenes with men as less painful and seem less forced.

Jane's just a big ol' gay mo', but Maura should remain faithful, especially when Jane is sitting right beside her ;)

I agree about Maura. Jane, otoh, I've found feels ace to me - but maybe that's just me (being ace here). Not only can I not buy any of the attempts at heterosexual romance with her, but I can't buy any of the femslash either, at least not the physical part. Jane just reads "uncomfortable with sex" to me - like she does it "because it's expected and it does feel kinda good but the whole doing it with someone else is just really awkward and can I just go back to not having sex?"
