Ladies and gents, you are in for another Dr. Lauren filled episode, with a pleasing assortment of Dr. Lauren science-girl awesome-ry.
Thoughts:
That pizza guy was totally a Canadian Kellan Lutz, which gave that scene a really weird Twilight meets porn vibe to me. I kept on expecting Emmett to ask Kenzi if she had a little vampire in her, and if not if she wanted to *smirk*.
Bo carries around an axe for protection? To protect her and her lady friend? Oh, Bo. Bo. Your weaponry brings all the girls to the yard.
Murderous Grannies ... surprisingly scary.
Kenzi is ridiculous. That outfit, that act, that accent. It's like she graduated from The Evil Morgana Smirking School of Subtly.
Evil giant spiders and killer grannies ... if this episode has a murderous clown with a giant bird that plucks people's eyes out for a pet, I'm outta here.
Lauren was rocking a Blake Lively-esque Mane of Awesome Warrior Queen hair in that first bar scene. If she'd had on shoulder pads as well, they could have had Lauren catch bullets with her teeth and I would have completely believed it, because gurl was looking FEROCIOUS!
Bo/Lauren/Dyson interaction is really, really, really painful watch. Also, Dyson is a bitch! Fuuuuuck. I called Cenred a Mean Girl, but Cenred has nothing on Dyson. Dyson is a 'spreading rumors about someone's wide-set vagina and telling people Cindy lost her virginity to a hot-dog' BITCH. Though the 'threesome' comment was kind of hilariously awful.
"I can speak for myself." Mmm, Assertive!Lauren. I want to have her power-haired babies!
"Do you always have to be you?" Ha! Seriously, though Bo, you're the one that forgot about your date with Lauren when Dyson asked for your 'help' on a case, so the toxically uncomfortable conversation that followed was in essence your fault.
"Poor Bo. So many choices, just one vag?" LOL. Kenzi, that line almost completely made up for your ENDLESS STUPIDITY and VAPIDITY last episode.
"My head is pounding harder than a sailor on shore leave." LOL! Oh Kenzi. Zing!
So, the Lauren/Kenzi kiss ... actually, really pretty hot. Bo's hallucinations are my kind of hallucinations.
Lauren husking, "Time for a little quid pro quo" with latex gloves on was inappropriately hot. Almost as hot as her motioning across her chest before saying, "Unbutton your shirt".
Random: Lauren and Dyson bitching at each other is kind of hot. I never, ever want to see the hate!tension acted upon, because ... yeah. But it is hot. I think that's mostly due to the fact that Lauren practically seethes in his presence, and her intensity is hot. It's also why I find Lauren's bitchiness awesome and Dyson's bitchiness infuriating.
Dr. Lewis! Dr. Lauren has a last name and it is ... LEWIS! Lauren Lewis. If that's not a classic super-hero name I don't know what is.
"Wee? You could put a saddle on that thing!" Kenzi, yet again! Girls on a roll!
"It tried to bite me In the face! In the face part of my face!" LOL! Kenzi, another zinger to add to the total.
"At least I don't have man-feet!" LOL. Kenzi.
It's awful, but I'm actually kind of upset that we didn't get to see a Bo/Kenzi almost make-out as well.
Serena's fierce! Lauren can hook up with her later if Bo continues to be a clit-tease.
"Feed how exactly from Hale?" BITCH! Damn, Dyson you are such a bitch!
DYSON YOU ARE A FUCKING BITCH, DUDE! You are a bitchsquealing bitch! Lauren just told you ONE of those spiders killed 600 people one time, and that one other time ONE was responsible for a genocide, and you're response is "You didn't even give Bo a chance?" Your comment about Lauren just being a human working for your people already proved that you're an ignorant shit, but now it becomes clear that you are an ignorant, dumb shit! On another note ...

"You're the one that almost got her killed." UGH, DYSON YOU BITCH! The LSD spider almost got Bo killed. Lauren saved her life by being smart and pragmatic while you wanted to go all Dyson, Smash and risk killing an entire city cause your dumb, ignorant ass was too dumb and ignorant to understand what you were dealing with. Yet, Lauren's the asshole?!?!?! UGH x infinity plus one. I am honestly at the point where I hate this guy now. He is an unmitigated shit!
Preview for next week:
Bo is looking into her past (read: her mother) and is going to be kicking all sorts of ass (and looks to get her ass kicked - badly - as well). The preview ends with the line ... "Tell me who I am or I will cut it out of you!" as Bo holds a knife to Dyson's throat. Looks like it's going to be an intense one.
Overall, very good episode with some funny Bo/Kenzi interactions, badass assertiveness for Lauren, and some progress forward with the Bo/Dr. Lauren relationship. Dyson is beyond obnoxious this episode though, so be warned. This episode took me from being irritated with him to wanting to kill him in the face.

Date: 2010-11-01 10:52 am (UTC)The showrunner seems to be pretty sensible, and so I doubt we're going to get an Evil Lauren, like we ended up with Evil HG or in the Merlin-verse Evil Morgana.
It does worry me a bit that Zoie Palmer is still a guest star though. But from comments the showrunner has made they've already got arcs planned for season 2, so I'm hoping Dr. Lauren will be a regular cast member then.

No, even with the end it really wasn't since Bo is still hesitant about hurting Lauren, but well it's a step. I have to say that Bo going to Dyson to get healed in the preview really took some of the umph out of that declaration from Dyson at the end of this episode though.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a real step towards Bo/Lauren next episode though. I mean, I think the season is only like 10 episodes long or something, so there better be SOME development (read: KISSING! LOTS OF KISSING!) between these two before the season ends!

Whereas dear sweet wolf-boy has been lying to Bo about his allegiances since the first episode. God, he really wound me up this episode.
On a happier note, Lauren was magnificent, and she handled the situation and Dyson's stupidity with just the right amount of brains and back!off!bitch! I hope we have many more Lauren-heavy episodes in store.
Kenzi was funny and I liked her relationship with Bo, even when it turned homicidal, although I wish Bo had shared her Lauren/Kenzi hallucination with her, just to see the reaction.

This! Characters motivations are this show are really murky. Other than Lauren, I never really understand how any of them react in certain situations or say the things they do. Kenzi hating Lauren is mystifying. Dyson hating on Lauren for being loyal to the Ash when he is supposed to be loyal to the Ash and was the Ash's right-hand man in the pilot is mystifying? Bo, BO THE SUCCUBUS, being the one pining for monogamy is mystifying. Honestly, the writing often leaves quite a bit to be desired.

Kenzi speaking Russian was awesome, and she had some great one-liners. I think Ksenia Solo has really great line delivery. And the kiss with Lauren was the high-light of the episode for me. I was surprised it was as hot as it was.
Bo/Lauren really does need to start making some real headway. Especially with Bo being kind of a douche right now, I'm not shipping them as hard as I was at first, and that's sad-making. It's feeling like Lauren is the only one really invested in their 'relationship' right now, and Zoie Palmer brings the heat, but the writing needs to help her out.

I know! I really galls me that Dr. Lauren is the only person with any sense on this show, the only person that uses her brain and all of the other characters shit on her (even Bo is douchey to her at times). It's like she's saved Kenzi's life twice, she saved Bo's life (and likely stopped a city from being wiped out) this episode, she's honest and straightforward and yet somehow the other characters act like she's some shifty, two-faced asshole. *is so confused ... and angered!*

I know right! I would be a huge slap in the face to anyone with a working brain if Dyson turns out to be right. If they make Lauren, Evil Smirking Lauren I'm totally out. I like the idea of the Light Fae being light only in name. My only worry is that they'll have Dyson rebel and Lauren tow the party line and while she won't be Smirkingly Evil she'll be set up as the bad choice and Dyson as the good choice.

But nope that is so not the case, the writers just throw this whole 'there's something fishy about Lauren and I don't like her' attitudes and we're just supposed to buy it.
I mean could it have really hurt to show Lauren and Kenzi meeting each other for the first time? The only good thing about Kenzi being antagonistic towards Lauren, is Lauren's annoyed reactions. The looks she gives Kenzi crack me up, because I'm doing the exact same thing while watching.
And I'll be right there with you. Kenzi's one-liners amuse me and Anna Silk is hot and all, but if they ruin Lauren, I won't be sticking around. Especially if she's used to prop Dyson. The show isn't that good.
