What a clusterfudge!

I feel like this week the fate's conspired to make me ship things to a ridiculous agree while simultaneously breaking my heart.
Lip Service - 1x05 (clicky clicky)
I'm probably one of the three people on the planet that not only likes Frankie, but actually wants her to end up with Cat down the road, this weeks episode was pretty great for me. I am shipping Cat/Frankie really hardcore right now. They were too adorable with their trip down memory lane at their old school, reminiscing about Frankie looking down Cat's shirt and the two of them carving their initials into the blackboard during detention. Awww.

And although most people will probably question my sanity, I thought it was super romantic that Frankie took the blame for everything with their boss so that Cat could get back into his good graces (even though he's an asshat that doesn't really deserves to have anybody working to get into his good graces). Cat trying to control her smile when Frankie walked back in to grab the bag with the vibrator in it also charmed the pants off of me.
And while I'm on the subject of Frankie, I'll stan a little more by saying that cowgirl!Frankie is one of the hottest things mine eyes have ever seen. Okay, that might now be true, my eyes are open for many hours every day so I've seen a lot of hot things, but cowgirl!Frankie was definitely really, really not. And Ruta Gedmintas is just stunning.

My Cat/Frankie OTP aside, I actually felt really bad for their significant and not so significant others this week. Sadie actually resembled a human being and made me feel really bad for her. Natasha O'Keefe really nailed those scenes with Sadie realizing that she had lost Frankie (or really even worse that she had never had Frankie in the first place to lose). The, "I really liked you" was simple, but poignant.
And Sam *sigh* Poor Sam. Most of the Cat/Sam scenes this episode filled me with such uncomfortableness because I felt really bad for Sam. I know that Cat dropped the "L bomb" (I refuse to use the other phrase) at the end of the episode, but I don't think that she really meant it. I think she wants desperately to mean it, but I don't think she actually feels it. Sam is wonderful for Cat, but for the last few episode Cat has not lit up around her like she does around Frankie. *braces for heartbreak*
OMG TESS! *HUGS HER FOREVER* This episode was really brutal for me because it was brutal for Tess, and I love Tess. During the awkward flirting with The Sexy as Hell neighbor I was like, "maybe things are looking up for Tess", but oh how wrong I was. Seeing her come completely undone this episode broke my heart. The writers honestly better start to turn things around for her next episode, because this week was like watching a puppy get kicked repeatedly (actually, if you throw Sadie and Sam into the mix it was like watching a whole litter of puppies get kicked repeatedly) and I can't take much more of that. Please, give Tess some smoochies with the hot neighbor

(or in my dream world, have Lou show up again - but in a positive context, not just to have one more person shit on Tess).
And because you can't mention Tess without immediately thinking about Ed. *sigh* I knew it was coming, but it was still brutal to watch. Ed is such a decent, funny, nice guy, so it was hard to see him get his heart smashed to pieces. I knew it was going to end that way, but it still hurt to watch it. I hope that he and Tess are able to patch things up, but I anticipate angst between the two of them probably until the end of the season which makes me sad.
Jay is an asshole who I will not waste anymore text on. I hate him more and more every episode. He has got a major case of Dysonitis. Seriously, [Kim Pine]if Jay's life had a face I would punch it[/Kim Pine].

Date: 2010-11-12 01:37 am (UTC)Like you, I feel like I'm in a minority, but for a different reason - I've actually liked Sadie from the get-go, and this episode really made me feel for her. She made an effort (something I can believe she doesn't do that often), and got shot down spectacularly.
I have to say though, that this is the second time we've seen Frankie as a pushy bi*ch who people have had to say no to repeatedly, and that is something I'm seriously not down with, no matter the situation. No means no, people. No matter the emo situation, no means no. And that makes me spectacularly unsympathetic toward her.
Tess! TESS! I love her. And I quite like the chemistry between her/her neighbour, and I hope they take that somewhere. To be honest I don't care how everyone else ends the series - I just want her to be happy. She's suhc a sweety. (Ed I love, too, but I don't think he and Tess should end up together).

Date: 2010-11-14 06:01 pm (UTC)So true. The taxi ride home was a nice, but painful, contrast to last weeks episode, where it was all The Taxi Ride of Raw Sexual Desire. This time, Sam really seemed resigned to the fact that she's Cat's "smart" choice instead of her "you make my heart light up" choice.
Sadie's been crazy, but I've actually enjoyed her scenes with Frankie. So yeah, I felt really bad for her this episode as well, because like you said she was making an effort with Frankie and putting herself out there in a way she doesn't seem to. Only be get caught in the cross-fire of the Cat/Frankie epic romance, just like Sam.
and I hope they take that somewhere.
This. Although, with only one episode left they'd only really be able to introduce the idea of Tess/NeighborLady. Which ...
IS WHY WE NEED A SEASON TWO ANNOUCEMENT! COME ON BBC! Don't let us down!

Date: 2010-11-14 11:51 pm (UTC)Yes, exactly. I so want her to be the endgame (I'm all for sexy and stable), but...I'm starting to think I wouldn't be totally upset if Frankie/Cat ended up together. And The Taxi Ride of Raw Sexual Desire? Kinda hot.
I wouldn't be upset even if they just implanted the IDEA of Tess/NeighbourLady...as long as Tess ends the season on anything resembling a high note, I'll be happy.

I think I'm willing this to work even more as this is my national channel, and I'm all DON'T LET ME DOWN UK. DON'T DO IT. I LOVE YOU, FLY THAT GAY FLAG.

Date: 2010-11-15 12:57 am (UTC)This. I need to see some light at the end of the tunnel for Tess by the end of the season, and neighbor lady seems like she would be a good person for Tess to be involved with. She's a hotty, she seems stable, and calm enough to deal with Tess's drama (i.e. her not over-reacting or getting bitchy when it became obvious that Tess had lied to get her up to the apartment).
I so want her to be the endgame (I'm all for sexy and stable), but...I'm starting to think I wouldn't be totally upset if Frankie/Cat ended up together.
I've been a Cat/Frankie end-gamer from the beginning, but it's going to be bittersweet when it happens because Sam deserves better than to have her heart broken this way.

Date: 2010-11-15 01:16 am (UTC)This! Light at the end of the tunnel, exactly. I kind of loved Tess's improv to get her up to the apartment, and her trying to cover and failing when she realised everything was still on, and I would have loved to have seen where it went had Tess's ex not 'conveniently' called at that exact moment. That was some heavy handed writing, right there, in my opinion.

Sam does! But...I'm just kind of excited to see which way it goes on Tuesday (thank gods for having a programme that I'm watching that I can actually enjoy AS IT AIRS for a change, it's so nice to actually see it on my TV and not have to wait for it online - the way you must feel about Lost Girl?), and I'm not sure that as long as it's done well, I wouldn't be thoroughly interested either way.

Date: 2010-11-12 02:52 am (UTC)I like Frankie! I just really like Sam a helluva lot too. ;) However, I do like Cat with Frankie better. They've just got that inevitable epic romance about them. *wiggle* I also laughed out loud when I saw Cat barely manage to rein in her smile when her boss looked at her.
And Ruta Gedmintas is just stunning.
MY HEART. Between her and Heather peace, I'm just a pile of goo the entire episode.
actually, if you throw Sadie and Sam into the mix it was like watching a whole litter of puppies get kicked repeatedly
That's exactly how I felt. I'm watching this group of friends slowly get caught up in a swirl of a shitstorm. I'm hoping at least half of them come out somewhat happy. :x

Date: 2010-11-14 06:05 pm (UTC)This is it exactly. I like Sam as a person, and I don't want to see her get screwed over, but I have to ship Cat/Frankie. Their chemistry is just incredibly. They both light up when they are around each other. And the whole schoolgirl romance angle just gives them an epicness that I cannot resist.

*sigh* I know. Jay can go die in a fire, and Ed, well he's going to have to well and truly accept that he and Tess aren't going to happen before he'll find any happiness. Hopefully, Tess will be on the road to recovery by the end of the season, and I want Cat/Frankie to end on a positive note as well (though I don't expect them to get together), but of course that means heartbreak in the future for Sam.

Date: 2010-11-14 06:07 pm (UTC)And yay for another Cat/Frankie shipper! I'm happy to see the Cat/Frankie shippers coming out of the closet now. I was feeling really alone there for a few episodes.

You are so right! I love you for pointing that out. way to go wardrobe department!

Date: 2010-11-14 06:13 pm (UTC)I think you're right. Cat seemed to be in a place where she was thinking, "maybe" as she spent so much time around Frankie, and heard Frankie talking about wanting to make better decisions. She maybe thought that Frankie was starting to grow up. But the Jay reveal just reminded her what Frankie is like.
I don't think that Cat dropped the 'l bomb' to be cruel, but she probably shouldn't have said it when she's more hoping to love Sam desperately, as opposed to already being desperately in love with her. That and the moving in thing is leading towards a really painful disaster and Sam will suffer more than Cat I'm sure.
I'm still for a Cat/Frankie endgame however. You can see their issues when they interact, but more than that I see their love and the way they light up around each other. And I think that when Frankie can get her shit together, that those powerful feelings they have for each other could lead to a good relationship.
But yeah, this show is all about suffering, romantic disasters and misery so the happiness will likely take a while.

Date: 2010-11-12 06:28 pm (UTC)Lou definitely needs to come back and make amends but the neighbour lady does look like she has potential.

Date: 2010-11-14 06:15 pm (UTC)Definitely. Even though she's aware of her screw-up tendencies, Frankie is still a screw-up and needs to mature some more before she could be with Cat without breaking her heart again. THIS IS WHY THERE NEEDS TO BE A SERIES TWO! This and finding Tess love!

Date: 2010-11-14 06:18 pm (UTC)Word. Cat/Frankie is my OTP, but they are not an OTP I want together romantically right now. They are a down the road OTP.
Please give Tess a taste of happiness next episode - just a sliver of a possibility? :)
This! Please, please, please give her some nice flirting with hot neighbor lady.
Remember her from Iron Jawed Angels.
I've never seen that *goes to look it up* My first introduction to Laura was in "The Investigator" with Helen Baxendale. Laura was playing another gay lady in that and she's been on my favorites list ever since.

Date: 2010-11-14 06:30 pm (UTC)I'm not going to lie, I swooned. I swooned hard. Frankie being all protectively gets me right in the heart (and the pants). I also loved her going to Tess at the end, and cradling Tess in her arms. It was another swooning moment for me (even though I felt awful for Tess)
Yeah it didnt seem like Cat meant it. She's totally inlove with Frankie still I dont think she wants to hurt Sam.
Yeah, it didn't seem like she meant it. I think she WANTS to mean it, and I think that she likes Sam a lot and is very fond of her. But madly in love with her? No. Those super-intense feelings are still for Frankie. Cat is going to end up seriously breaking Sam's heart, for real.
I hope they write that sexyneighbour into Tess' life. I really really hope they do.
Me too. She seems nice and stable. And she's HOT! Tess could use someone with less drama in her life. Both Chloe and Lou were pretty high maintanence.
